HOW ERIK TEN HAG IS FIXING MANCHESTER UNITED'S DEFENSIVE PROBLEMS IN PRE-SEASON! - TACTICAL ANALYSIS

In today's video, I wanted to take a deep dive into how Erik Ten Hag has been setting up #ManchesterUnited in preseason so far. Mainly against #Arsenal, where we have seen EtH utilize various different defensive structures. With him using different formations and pressing triggers. It offers us a really good look into how EtH wants to play this upcoming season in the #PremierLeague. Playing high pressing football, resulting in high turnovers and chances in transition. It will be building on what EtH has implemented in his first few seasons at the club.
With new signings coming into the club, it will only be a matter of time until we have the right personnel to be able to play how #ErikTenHag wants to play, both on the offensive and defensive side of the ball.

i’d also love to know what you think about mount playing a deeper RWB role in a back 3 and possible garnacho or antony doing the same on the opposite . i feel they’ve got the work rate to do so and would just need to be instructed to do more defensive work and it would just create massive overloads in the wide areas but also allowing people like rashford, bruno, amad and zirkzee to seriously drift inside and have a freeroam role without having to work all too hard out of possession. maybe having a counter balance as well, if garnacho or mount is on the opposite flank would have someone like dalot or shaw so they can slot back into a back 4 when necessary and on paper go back to a 433 with rasmus as a “RW” player for the defensive structure?

In regards to your second point, I think with how close and difficult the premier league is, defensive solidity will be the highest importance to us next season. With that said, we could use a back 3 system where one of the fullbacks, either Shaw or Yoro who could easily play there would come across and have a back 3 shape with a more attacking fullback the other side. Especially with new signings! If Mount is to work, he needs to be used in a higher area of the pitch, anywhere across the front three really. Mainly to utilize his good engine and pressing IQ. With our lack of domination against most top sides possession wise, I wouldn't see that being an option with how you suggested it. I really like the idea and concept of a back 3. It's my favorite system to play and manage (when I did IRL).

@@royalkings254 That’s very true, but at the time of making the video. Reports were very unclear and no update to his injury was out. It came out after I uploaded the video that he will be out for 3 months and now is having surgery
