Great analysis! Only thing I'll say for right at the end of the video where you compared United signing Zirkzee to Chelsea, is that it's clearly night and day difference. Last season when Hojlund got injured United had 0 strikers (bar Rashford playing out of position). This is more a case of having 2 quality options, probably more similar to City having Haaland and Alvarez. Chelsea having something like 9 CB's and 6-7 young RW options certainly isn't comparable to United having 2 strikers!
Zirkzee is force nine sometime he can play sttacking midfielder. So we will see bruno and Zirkzee also Hodjund and Zirkzee. The sim is to rotate to keep from injury also to confuse opponent
@@akshayb884 he also played as a left back and as a CDM in Argentinian football because he was too small for center back role on his first seasons. so he's used to play in build positions with the opponent's press against him
i really like the idea of having Bruno in a deeper midfield role. The few times he was deployed deeper we saw the best of his passing capability since he has more time on the ball. I really would like to see the second tactic of Zirkzee and Hojlund up front but it'll mean we have no sub striker unless we decide to put an academy graduate on the bench
Considering that they're still closely linked to signing Toney, I think the latter strategy is much more likely in Ten Hag's mind, I believe he will try to fit 2 strikers in with one of them being Zirkzee, but they really need Ugarte if they do, barring that another solid CDM, they're also linked to Fofana and Zubimendi, but neither of them are quite the profile to play single pivot with 5 offensive minded players.
Absolutely. Ugarte fits in perfectly. I think that's why they went for him. I also think United have shown solid interest in him, that's why PSG have gone ahead and signed Neves. That signing was hinged on the exit of a midfielder (ugarte). I think Ten Hag really wants him as he is going to play with a single pivot on transition and no one else would suit that role. He needed a proper CDM like the prime Matic, hence Ugarte. It's going to be an exciting season, also considering the demeanor of players we are signing. Players who have pure love for the game, exhibit leadership qualities, are warriors, and have the desire to succeed at the club. Not players with big egos or are primarily focused on money.
3-2-4-1martinez yoro and someone else as CBs, mainoo and ugarte as two 6s, bruno and zirkzee as two 10s, garnacho on the left, sancho/antony/whoever on the right hojlund as the striker
Utd still desperately need a box to box (Fofana), another CB (De Ligt) and a reliable LB for Shaw's injuries Without these, Utd will still not be competing for top 4
a CB for sure.. But united only finished 8 points off top four in a season where United massively underperformed.. United are closer to top 4 than you think...
@@Akeem-uk6pl yeah but the competitors are getting stronger as well, especially Tottenham, Aston Villa, Chelsea is unpredictable but could do well we never know
@@BlazySM-qp4yn you are right but again.. united underperformed last season with so many injuries.. with players back.. united are stronger than last season if those players’ can stay fit..
Great tactical analysis. EtH has historically favored link up forwards e.g. Dusan Tadic, who open up the game with their press resistance and technical prowess. Just like Bobby Firmino at Liverpool. He tried Bruno there multiple times coz hojlund doesn't quite have the vision and technical ability as a creator, rather a late game finisher providing deadly pace and shooting accuracy a la Haller. Going forward we should see multiple attack points open up with JZ in the CF role. Excited for this season.
Its simple if you have Zirkzee up top you need wingers like Rashford and Ganacho or Antony. Amad wouldnt do bacause they like to shoot and finish attacks. With Hollamd up top you need Ganacho on the left amd Amad on the Right simply bacause they are creators and they can create for the striker.
Rashford needs to improve his dribbling, finishing and heading to unlock himself. You can't be beat your chest that Rashford will score when he is 1 on 1 with the goalie. With his years of experience and talent, he should be closer to Salah level finishing.
They don't play the system Bologna played under Motta. Motta played a 2 - 7 - 2, which sounds absurd but that formation is read horizontally. This channel broke down how it functions nicely. The point is Zirkzee was the "side to side midfielder" (essentially what a box to box midfielder does for a vertical formation) he was free to leave his position but at United he'll have to play as a more conventional foward. He excelled playing in an unusual role that was not well understood by opposition vs. having to play one well understood by most oppositions. Reserving judgment till he takes to the field.
@Akeem-uk6pl The assumption was United are going to play in a 4 2 3 1. They have Bruno Fernandez to play behind the striker which would make him the striker. Looks like 10 Haag might go 2 strikers this season.
@@austinedeclan10 but our wingers dont really suit a 2 striker formation… IMO Zirkzee seems to have been bought so the wingers can be the goalscorers..Rashford specifically…
No united lack everything needed to replicate the prime Liverpool squad. They need more box2box and fighter midfield. And more explosive winger like salah and mane (can work more with garnacho maybe). 2 Superb fullback with great crossing. Every one in the Liverpool prime was OP, and united need more work for it, or create new tactics that more OP.
@FootballMeta Playing Rashford and Hojlund as inside forwards with Zirkzee playing in the 9/10 role or as a false 9 will greatly increase Manchester United’s attacking potential
Also Zirkzee and Fernandes will be able to do 1-2 with each other cuz we know that's something fernandes is very good at first time passing (FA Cup Final to Mainoo)
Zirkzee will play and it will be rashford and garnacho as the attacking scorers in a false nine sort of role. Amad will come on for garnacho on the right and hojlund will be at striker then
It would be nice if hojlund could play in the LW with zirkzee through the middle,he'll no doubt create chances for like and you could almost see that hojlund like getting in those left wing positions
Actually love your stuff but occasionally they are a bit less objective... As a Serie A watcher it's not hard for me to see from Day -100 that Zirkzee is NOT a fit for ManU or even Premier League. Maybe you could consider more posts for non Premier League teams so we can learn more. Thanks.
I disagree that Bruno and Zirkee occupy the same space. Bruno isn’t comfortable in tight space whilst Zirkee is. Also when Martial played CF you in Bruno’s first and second szn, Bruno would make runs ahead of him and CBs couldn’t pick him up which is why he scored so many goals.
9:22 I don't think we will get into a situation like Chelsea where big players are not getting enough game time. They now have 8 goal keepers. 17 CBs. We have signed two, likely to sign another two. We are extremely vulnerable if one of our first-choice players gets injured. We have a relatively weak squad depth. We need these signings, so I don't see any negatives in having a little bit bigger squad.
The thought that United will be dependent on Bruno in a deeper role if Zirkzee is also playing is worrying. His speculative, wasteful, and hurried balls has given away chances and goals.
Darn, that Zirkzee looks GOOD. Ugarte could be a fantastic signing too. But I still have little confidence in Uncle Erik, and am doubtful about who the team will come together this season. With these two on board, and the defence hopefully a bit more stable than last year, there should be a chance for a significant improvement at least - but maybe not quite top four again yet?
WRONG. Bruno can go up and finish also. You’re locking him next to zerksee and behind him.I loved your video till you got to the point of 442 onward. Why in your two ideas of ten hag system bruno can’t go up?
The point is that by having a midfielder who makes runs to the box and a false 9 is that no one is there as fixed target to move the defense (either through crosses or diagonal balls for one twos) And Bruno is a player who doesn't like to shoot as much as other midfielders... it's also seen in his heat map how he just drops deep down to help United in the build up. But I guess having a player who does that instead of him can help him free up like he played in Sporting or in his first United 2 seasons where he just made lots of runs and ended up in many 1 v 1s against keepers.
@@mariadanielalavia8877 you answered your self at the end to your statement that bruno doesn’t like to shoot as other midfielders.
