- Police told a lesbian campaign group to leave a gay Pride march after members clashed with transgender rights activists.
Members of GetTheLOutUK had joined the Pride Cymru event in the Welsh capital on Saturday, during which they displayed banners reading “transactivism erases lesbians” and “lesbians don’t like penises”.
Members of the group were asked to leave by police after one of them and a transgender rights activist started shouting at each other. Organisers of the march said that GetTheLOutUK was not officially registered to attend.
LGB Alliance's Bev Jackson criticised the police for removing the protestors from the event.

As a gay man I don’t want to be associated with these people at all and it makes me embarrassed to be gay. I’ve only been to pride once and I was disgusted at what I saw. I literally just want to be left alone with equal treatment under the law
I worked in interior design and lived adjacent to The Village in NYC for two and a half decades, so I was very immersed in the gay culture for much of my life. My gay friends (and I had a lot of them) were educated, monogamous professionals, They didn't do the club scene, or go to the Pride parade, which is a real scene in NYC. I always spent that night in myself. Anyway, I completely hear you. The radical part of this transgender scene is a complete drag.

As a member of Gen x I have to say all of this labeling is very frustrating. The thing about my generation was escaping labels, being non judgemental. Now all of a sudden these younger generations are labeling everything including me. I was actually attacked online by a trans male to female youtuber who insisted that I use the term cis gendered to describe myself. I said no. I am a hetero female. I tried to explain that if you want me to use your terms and labels for you, then I get to use my own labels for myself. That didn't go over very well. I wasn't trying to be difficult, I try to keep up with all the terminology and try to support all "alphabet" communities. But this particular youtuber was so hostile. It was very off putting. It makes me wonder if it has something to do with horomone treatments. I'm not a doctor so I don't know.

There are many factors that are in play here but one relates strongly to your comment. Labels.
Unfortunately by wanting to make life better by removing them we created an even bigger issue.
Humans need labels to function, it comes from our primitive brain and is now part of our most profound instincts because it's supposed to makes us safe. You deal with something once and then you know it, it has a label, safe/dangerous, family, food etc... If every time you come across something or someone you have to reassess what it is and how it relates to you and your life not only does it get exhausting but also it can be deadly, prehistoric humans who did so were killed and didn't reproduce, the ones that passed our genes to us are the ones that were quick to put labels on things, like for example lion = danger no need to wonder if maybe this one is friendly. Sure it has it's drawbacks, 2 similar things that will be labelled the same way when they are in fact different but also it makes it hard for us to change our minds on things we have already classified be it for good or bad.
But it's a survival necessity that has been written in our genes. When we tried to remove it it backfired.
The more reasonable and useful thing to do would have been working on having people be more welcoming of exceptions or a more loose definition of the labels. But removing them was bound to fail.

I'm a straight Christian female. I would be very upset if somebody enamored me only to find out they are a woman. I figure a woman who wants only another woman would feel the same way. It's the other person's lustful desire and lack of self esteem that makes them insist everybody agree with them and desire them back. Someone who is focused on only sex most of the time behaves that way anyways, from my experience. I had one person tell me that what the heart wants, is what the "heart" wants, I told them that " that's not what my heart wants, so you need to tell your "heart" to shut up". The over denanding person's rights and desires end where mine and yours begins. I do have life experience, I haven't always been a follower of Jesus and I still have to work and live in the real world. I think it does verge on a type of strange religion. When you try to talk to them about logical and fair things, they get a strange light in their eyes.

When did it become 'hateful' to not want to date someone of a particular gender, ethnicity, religion, etc. The criteria for who we choose to have sex with, or who we choose as a life partner, is ALWAYS more stringent and less inclusive than who we choose to have as friends, associates, etc. We also include/exclude on the basis of eye colour, hair colour, political affiliations, ability/disability, etc when making choices on potential intimate partners. How long before it becomes unacceptable to have any criteria at all, and we have to just date, or have sex with anyone who asks. Hmmm.... who has read Aldous Huxley's Brave New World?

I am so sorry you feel that way. You are a beautiful human being that I'm sure has suffered so much, I can't even imagine. I myself was beginning to lose hope watching society deteriorate around me, but I have been seeing more and more people every day stand up to this insanity. It will take time, but I truly want to believe that this wont last forever. I may not have a very loud or influential voice, but I try to spread love in ways that I can to truly support the LGB community.
This was called out years ago along with women's sport and pregnancies in women's only prisons. It was described as extreme at the time and look where we are.
I know a lesbian who said she never attended a pride march, she is 62 and is a dignified and humble. So pride is the last thing she would identify as.

I don't think there is anything wrong with being a survivor of discrimination. Things have changed a lot since your friend realized she's a lesbian, though. In Western countries, people who are LGBT"add what you want" are rarely discriminated against, they are praised and celebrated. Unless they are very old-fashioned and/or God-fearing, most Westerners are not homophobic and many will respect if you identify with another gender than the one assigned to you at birth as well. Really, those who are elderly today had hippie friends in their youth or were hippies themselves. Those who were part of those older vintages who butted heads with flower children are in their late 90s or older, and even some of those changed their mind since. If you come out as gay or trans today, you will have plenty of supporters, more than adversaries, I think.

It is completely unnecessary and should be done away with because all it does is create a divisive climate. Heterosexuals don't have to put our sexuality in the streets in a big celebration. I sleep with women, big deal. Why do I need to have pride about my sexuality. It's just part of life.

I must say I a straight female am actually quite angry for these lesbians to be ousted from a gay parade. I am a nurse and believe in xx xy and an extra letter here and there is a trick of nature, however I don't object to anyone deciding they want to present themselves as something other than how they started. If I can remain non judgemental, taking care of everyone in hospital why can't others be non-judgmental in the street parade?
And even that extra letter is either X or Y. It's binary and only binary through and through. As a nurse you know that everyone carries estrogen and testosterone, too. Imagining some thing beyond or outside two gender categories requires detachment from reality.
Because "being judgemental" is the point of the exercise.
Because it is about victimhood gaining political power.
Because it is arteficial not real.

If you're not a citizen, you have no business being here. Thus, such a person would require forcible removal...Any resistance should be met with lethal force. There is no objection that the quality people raise that is not perfectly logical...We ran everything til the mid 60's...and we did VERY well. Things like sanity, order, prosperity...hell, even beauty, quality, superiority...such things will always terrify the less-endowed. But that's no reason that the better half should not be running things. We've seen what happens when we allow the ghetto...or perhaps I should say, the BARRIO...to exert undue influence. Time to get everybody back in their proper place...and I do not mean VOLUNTARILY...

The job and training of the Police is to maintain the peace and if that parade is threatened by internal disagreements among paticaments, then they have a duty to remove the threat. So, in this case, the Police were protecting gay pride, to ensure the march is orderly, which was independent of their own personal opinions.

I have a friend who is a trans man. He thinks only people who are bisexual in some way can be attracted to him once they know what he is. Mind you, he is bisexual himself.
