If it was my child I would be on my hands and knees turning every rock over. Second was the Go Fund me who was started within no time. And then his criminal history that was covered up and his mum lying about him being an angel
Same. I have 4 teenage sons and have to use a wheelchair to ‘walk’ any distance due to spine damage. If one of mine went missing, regardless of terrain, I’d be out there in hiking boots and scooting up and down on my arse, if that’s what it took. None of this sits right at all.
I cant think why he would leave the road unless he was worried that someone might see him as they drove past. Like maybe the two men from the villa, it's said now he was scared when he left. Maybe he didn't want to wait at the bus stop which was visible from their villa or walk the road where he could be seen if they drove past. It's the only reason I can think for going off the road.
Apparently the road is so windy, that it doubles back on itself. I guess if you can see where you need to be & it's straight across, you would most likely cut across to save yourself a lot of walking. It's not safe though, as Michael Moseley discovered.
@@gaysy1st fair point but it depends on how easy the terrain, is if there are open paths maybe you would take a shortcut, but if not, or if there are obstacles or thorns maybe not, personally the critical factors, his fear, reluctance to wait for the bus, the theft of either a watch or drugs and his apparent desire to leave the road suggest that the two geezers are involved, reckon he got on the wrong side of them somehow and he was caught and removed using a vehicle, forensics should be all over the apartment, the two geezers, their vehicle etc
yeah what makes most sense to me is that he didn’t wanna wait around for the bus after stealing these guys’ rolex because they could catch him, and probably thought his only option was to go through the mountains to not get caught and have his ass beat by the guys he just robbed
So only 20 minues after Lucy speaks to Jay his battery dies. And a few minutes later she reports him missing. Hes miles away from the town and claims to be on his way back. Why report him missing at that point. As far as she knows he just thirsty and on his way back.?
There's a lot about this story that reeks, to be honest. After all, he's right around the corner from houses and a bar, which given the route he took, he would have seen and it wouldn't have taken long to walk there. Why ring a friend with 1% to complain of being thirsty (he's just left an Air BnB), has no battery, a d doesn't know where he is, or attempt to tell her any location? Why attempt an 11 hour walk rather than wait two hours for the next bus? Who was this woman he spoke to that drove past him not long after (and why was she there?) This all sounds like bollocks, and Peter is starting to sound more like a cheesy crime documentary presenter than actual detective
That’s if it was even him that was messaging her. Could’ve been somebody else with his phone out there, knowing the GPS coordinates would be looked at.
It's like a desert out there, very arid, no water...if you are thirsty you are already dehydrated and won't last long. Thete is no such thing as being just thirsty - thirst is life-threatening.
He said he was lost didn't he? Having no water in that kind of heat is very dangerous - she did the right thing. He should have stayed where he was when his phone died.
The question is... Why would Jay honestly go back to the house with these men? Where were his actual friends? Why did he not go back with anyone else. I think they know far more than they are letting on.
Yes what ever jay stole I think theyv stolen from him if it was valued 12k.the drug dealers all abt money.maybebtheybdrugedcthe boy & followed him .but the dealer lying .our police need to be over there.
Substantially punished ??????? How far from reality can you be. No one would be saying that if it was thier own son or daughter with a skull cracked open and the person got community service.
Masca is a long way from the resorts, I would be asking why these two men picked Masca for a holiday? there is absolutely nothing to do there other than walk the rugged tracks, the starting point has to be with the two men he left the event with.
I’ve ended up in a similar situation. Tried to walk home drunk ended up lost in the country side at 3am with -4 temperatures and my phone had died. Collapsed in a doorway of a small church in the middle of nowhere and was found by a dog walker next day. It’s easy to get yourself into trouble like this

It’s all too late to mention the details that have been revealed the last 5 days or so now. I understand everyone takes grief and tragic situations differently but everyone of them have been like that in the interviews they’ve done & they done them all separately at different stages of the search but all seem to act similar. Also Lucy calling out police & the fund me page literally the same day within hours of him calling her. Maybe after 3 days or so but how did she know he was going to be lost for any period of time!!! Within hours of his call saying he was thirsty and his phone has no power. That wouldn’t make me call up the police straight away & I’d certainly not even think about the fund page for at least a 3 day period not within hours. That wouldn’t cross my mind atoll. All doesn’t add up as we all know now. ✌️
Lucy knows. The first thing the mother said was I'm not Sharon Matthews - the mother who reported her daughter missing when she'd hidden her with a friend. Why on earth say that ? Lucy sets up a Go Fund Me. He is supposed to owe £30,000 to dealers. Then it all went horribly wrong. He should have come out of hiding within a week.
She said it because that's what people had been calling her I saw the comments myself. One of the few people I believe has no idea what is going on is his mum.

Since the main characters involved in this all reside in the UK, can they not be hauled in and made to answer questions by the UK National Crime Agency?
There would seem to be no apparent crime relevant to UK soil at present. You could be questioned if you had assaulted someone abroad but this is officially still a missing persons case according to local police as far as we know. Lots of people go missing abroad and it is usually left to local agencies to deal with it.. If the local police say it is now a murder investigation then things could change.

I think that he did something to upset the men, or stole something from them and made a sharp exit. That's why he was not stood by the bus stop. He ran off, cross country, thinking he would find an easy route back to where he was staying. Instead, he found himself in a fix, possibly descending a hill that turned into a steep climb and found he could not get back up. He fell, or died of dehydration. Unfortunately, the police had no grounds to hold them. It's still a missing person case and not a criminal one. If the body doesn't turn up looking suspicious, or other evidence of violence isn't found, they'll get away with whatever they did, assuming that they did anything at all. Also, the police, both Spanish and UK, probably know a lot more than they're letting on to the media, but proof is always the problem.

It wouldn’t surprise me if they were dealing in drugs and Jay was selling them on at the festival. Jay couldn’t pay them the money for the drugs he was supposed to sell because he had used most of them for his personal use. I think his friends, Lucy and the boy, know this and tried to raise funds to pay the dealers back. Maybe Jay will appear soon or maybe the two blokes just took him out. Either way I think there are people not being entirely honest about what they know about his disappearance.
As soon as the Spanish police knew Jay had stayed at that Airbnb that should have been taped off searched and gone over forensically to rule it out. The two men should have been taken in for questioning photographed and fingerprinted so they could determine who they were. None of that was done. They assumed because his phone was in the mountain that Jay was not necessarily so. The phone could have been left there. Have they asked Jays phone provider for his call data. Did they check Lucy and Brads call data from their provider. Did that check the two men’s call data. Did they locate the hire car and forensically check that. Have they checked around the immediate grounds surrounding the Airbnb perhaps something been burnt clothing. And if one of these guys was running a cannabis cafe in Player De Americas wouldn’t he have had accommodation there. Why would he be staying at least an hour away for one or two nights. But travelling in to the bars and clubs. Why were they allowed to leave Tenerife without being checked out first. Sorry Peter but with new information now coming out such as Lucy knowing these guys and pictures of her in one of their company I’m not believing that this lads disappearance is nothing to do with them or Lucy or something nefarious going on in Tenerife.
If he was that worried, he wouldn’t have been walking up the road in the unknown wrong direction.
Who was this woman he spoke to that drove past him not long after (and why was she there?)

Why would the law abiding Lucy ring the police to report him missing when his phone died??? That's very strange
Unless she knew something else
Off his face on drugs in unfamiliar, mountainous area with no battery and dehydrated with no drink. That might be why
He couldn't have been off his face that much, he was asking for bus times?? And the lady said he was walking fast.. that's quite a feet when your K Hold or on E's.
Those two "British" guys know more than they are saying

@@MrJeffHead Dehydrated? he was walking for 30 mins only just left the air bnb?
@@jamielfc9232 probably been on pills etc at the rave which would have made him dehydrated. Reported to have said he was thirsty. 30 mins until his phone ran out of battery, might have hiked for another 5 hours
The two men from the B & B are key to what happened to Jay. The Spanish police were wrong to let them go.
A substantial punishment? You're having a laugh eh?
I agree
If you knew the “kid” they attacked and the sort of person he is, you would tell yourself it was justified and they shouldn’t have been punished at all.
The most insight I’ve heard ...
A few assumptions made. No proof it was Jay in the cigarette photo. No proof it was Jay who called Lucy Mae. No proof that Jay was with his phone when it went to 0% battery in the mountains.
@@CelticSaintwell said. It's awful the amount of misinformation going around.
Really?
I love peter he's so specific in his work
Finally someone with knowledge. And experience.
Easy to hitch a lift by sticking to the main road. When things don’t make sense all types of conspiracies float about. Great report 👍
Even if you missed the bus you could start walking and try and hitch or stop at the next bus stop. But then why didn't the friend say sit tight at the bus stop I am on my way, because she knew where he was.
Easy to get the bus that comes every 10 minutes
Those two guys must know more.

Unless hes hiding, for whatever reason, hes dead. No food or water for 2 weeks....no way.
🤔I think so too… but where is his body?
@@Oceansgreen Bottom of the atlantic ocean most likely
Very very weird, sad for his family nonetheless
Where's the car that might hold some clues!!!
What goes around comes around it Always catches up to you in the end Why can't the mother spend some of that money And get people in to help.
So glad you've said about embracing social media detectives, I've thought for a while they're a great source of info and could be a fantastic help to the police.
Love this retired British inspector 🏴🇬🇧
How does anyone know the photo on the doorstep is him?
That is why the legs are covered......
Strange photo why would you take and send a photo of a door step with just a bit of legs and holding a cigarette at 7.30am. Very strange!!
Imo the picture of the feet is not weird. I see my teenager do it all the time & their friends. What i find weird is the floral/ multicolor skirt? Or what is that...

The two men who he got in the car with look like gangsters
They are known drug dealers who know Lucy !!!
They ARE gangsters.
@@andersondasilva1334 This makes sense. What then do you imagine happened to Jay?
@@andersondasilva1334 The family does seem to be on the working-class-under-class border…You think JS has been eliminated?
The whole lot of them need going over with a fine toothcombe and brought back for questioning.
The Guardia Civil is a very professional, experienced and efficient part of the Spanish police force. Get properly informed before making ridiculous accusations.
@@DulceN whose making accusations I’m making suggestions as to what could or should have been done. Rule everything in until it’s ruled out. If the GC are as professional as you’re claiming they would have done all of that.

Here is another question...were the Police immediately made aware of what kind of person Jay was and his past? For future reference, here's another saying: play stupid games, win stupid prizes and here's another one.. Karma never loses an address 🤷
Valuable time was wasted portraying Jay as an innocent 19 year old on his first holiday abroad.Obviously I don’t know what the family and friends told police but if it had been investigated as drug related perhaps they would have solved this by now .
defiately dryg related-he owed a lot of money!!
