    This is awesome. Every grip Ive ever had for Canon and Sony cameras had to be inserted into the battery slot, so you could only have 2 batteries in the grip. This lets you keep the one in camera and have 3. Excellent.

    I've been on the fence about this very expensive grip the entire time the camera has been out and this has sold me on it, I was worried I wouldn't feel comfortable using the controls in portrait mode compared to my landscape ones but all my functions are there! thanks so much for the review!

      Renata Vanadia I was concerned too be for buying the grip. I was pleasantly surprised; now even though it weighs a bit more and makes the camera bigger, I only ever take the grip off to use the camera with a gimbal.
      The upsides of having the grip far outweigh the downsides.

    As for the cap for the pins on the battery grip. Well I carry an old 35mm film canister container to put it in to put in my camera bag. Yes I know it sounds stupid, but I have a far better chance of finding it again when I separate out my camera again.

    Hey there! Great video! I'm really interested into getting this camera for still and movie. Now may question ist why does the grip doesn't work with the ronin rsc2? Because my thoughts was for some occasion it would be very practical to balance the system. For example with the 50-140

    • @IsobarBrokenFlame
      @IsobarBrokenFlame  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s awesome that you are interested in getting in to photography and cinematography.
      However, the grip cannot be used with the Ronin SC or even the Ronin S. With the grip attached to the camera, the camera sits too high and cannot be balanced correctly to allow a full range of movement.
      The original Ronin-SC can’t balance the 50-140mm 2.8 lens.

    Does the camera work if you have a battery in either or both grip bays, but not in the camera itself? I've heard that leaving the battery out of the camera itself helps with the overheating issue when doing 4k60FPS.

    • @IsobarBrokenFlame
      @IsobarBrokenFlame  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can place the batteries in a any combination of the available slots. I’ve ran the camera with just a single batter in the grip.

  • @theinsiderstv

    Why can’t you use it with a gimbal - because it makes it too heavy? Would it work with the RS2? Thanks!

    • @IsobarBrokenFlame
      @IsobarBrokenFlame  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It won’t work with the original Ronin S because it makes the camera too tall, and the center of gravity to heigh up, meaning it can’t be balanced.

    • @IsobarBrokenFlame
      @IsobarBrokenFlame  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Occasionally, the camera doesn’t recognise the grip. Switch off the camera. Disconnect the grip, clean the contacts on the camera, and the reconnect the grip. Then switch the camera back on and try again.
      If this doesn’t work, you may have a faulty with either the grip or camera. You can try taking it to a camera shop and asking them to try the grip on one of their demo cameras. This will help you to determine if it is an issue with the grip or the camera.

    • @IsobarBrokenFlame

      There is a small draw on all the batteries, but my unit tends to draw most the power from the right battery, followed by the internal battery, then the left battery (As viewed from the back of the camera). They won’t all drain at the same time. I used this on a wedding shoot, and finished the shoot on a single battery.
      I’m unaware of any update or camera setting for the way the batteries are used.

    How many hours you can shoot with that in video?

    • @IsobarBrokenFlame
      @IsobarBrokenFlame  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Each battery will last over an hour with continuous recording of 4K DCI at 24fps to an external recorder. But I have never tied just recording till the battery goes flat. However, it is going to depend on the condition of the batteries as well. My batteries are still considered to be new so they are able to store a bit more charge than older batteries.
      I would guess if I tried I could shoot for 3 hours straight with the three batteries. But as the Ronin S doesn't really accommodate the battery grip with the top mounted GPS unit, it is unlikely that I would ever try. I'm reasonably happy swapping out the batteries every 1 hour or so, or charging off the USB port while recording.

      Najm Gamer I have to be honest, I live in a moderately cool climate. So overheating isn’t an issue for me at all.
      Sony’s autofocus and object tracking is simply the best on the market at the moment. Object tracking is missing from the X-T4.

    • @IsobarBrokenFlame
      @IsobarBrokenFlame  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Najm Gamer the. X-T3 is a good camera, and it is very similar to the X-T4.
      As production quality has improve dramatically over the last few years with most people using gimbals, steadycams or some other mechanical device to get smooth movements. You’ll probably find IBIS isn’t good enough for TH-cam or even home videos now.
      I use a Gimbal (Ronin S) if I’m doing video with the X-T4, or I’ll use a GoPro with HyperSmooth switched on. So for video an X-T3 with a Gimbal is a good way to go.
      However you should consider the improvements provided by the X-T4. A larger battery, an improve facial recognition and focus.
      One the biggest issues with the X-T4 and the X-T3 is the lack of object tracking, which means you’ll often find yourself pulling focus manually or tapping the screen to focus on a different area.
