      That’s a shame, but I understand.
      I haven’t made any videos in a while. I’ve been really busy, but that should change soon. Hopefully we both will be able to use our Ronin-S’ again soon.

    That's amazing! Do you know if you can use two focus wheels and one motor?
    It's probably a silly idea but is that works you use it to do a super smooth dolly zoom. Or am I wrong?
    Nice video btw :)

      Sorry you can’t use two focus wheels, by default.
      You can buy an after market wireless remote focus wheels and motors (Tilta and other make them) to control the zoom. While using the OEM focus wheel to control the focus.

    Looks good, shame it’s not a touch smoother though. I think the focus motor although bulkier would do a much better job?

    • @IsobarBrokenFlame
      @IsobarBrokenFlame  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      James Sonfield, that’s a good point. I suspect I could have been smoother on the focus wheel.
      Your feedback is appreciated, as I’m still new to making videos, and I might not be focusing my attention in the right places.
      I’ll try to make a video comparing the pull-focus motor against the lens’s focus motor, when used with the focus wheel.

    • @jamessonfield
      @jamessonfield 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Inspirationfree I don’t think it was your smoothness on the wheel, I thinks it’s just the way it works through camera. You can see it stepping. You’ll get much nicer results with focus motor. Maybe it’s something they can fix as I believe they are focus by wire lenses on Fuji and pull focus smoothly with focus ring so in theory they should be able to pull smoothly??? I’m no expert either!

    Hi ! I wanna mention that it's not a simple usb C cable. I lost it and it does not work with any other. I was about to buy an other one (quite expensive for this piece) and I found it in my mess. It works (before I tried with xt3 and now I have xt4).
    Don't lose this cable ! It really looks like a normal usb c cable (except for the 90 shape) but it's not.
    If I had focus peaking on monitor, I would use it. Just set the smooth settings and you'll have beautiful focus transition. Actually I do it on my normal screen too. Check my videos :)
    XT4 is amazing, bleach bypass and Classic Neg are awesome !

      I bough ronin SC for use it with my x-t30. It suposes to work just with the usb-c cable as trigger and follow focus (without focus motor). In fact, I updated the Ronin and camera firmwares, the notes from fuji says that now the camera can be controlled and have compability. After that updated for my camera, it appears a new option in the conection settings, almost the same as the x-t3/4.
      1.20 Gimbal / Drone support (*)
      This firmware adds the following function to complement the current support for still image shooting via USB communications:
      ・Starting and ending video recording
      ・Adjusting exposure settings (exposure mode, shutter speed, aperture, ISO sensitivity, exposure compensation) for video recording
      ・Making manual focus adjustments for video recording
      But I cannot control even the trigger funtion. When I connect the cable to the camera start to charge it, but any else.
      Has anyone achieved full control of their X-t30 with the Ronin SC? Thanks

    • @k1k13004
      @k1k13004 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@VictorAlmarza in the settings (connection settings 》 usb) you can set what the usb connection will do. It should be tethering. Xt30 can not be tethered but maybe that had changed

    • @VictorAlmarza
      @VictorAlmarza 4 ปีที่แล้ว

       @k1k13004 Thanks for your response. In the firmware update 1.20, Fuji says the camera can be controlled by gimballs via usb, they added a new function called "USB MOVIE SHOOTING AUTO (and MANUAL too)", similar to the thetering option from the X-T3.
      The AUTO mode notes says:
      "The camera's movie-recording features can be controlled from gimballs, drones, or other devices connected via USB. The camera automatically enters "tethered shooting" mode when the external device is turned on...... "
      So, I can not achieve to control the camera record/stop function, and it seems that nobody else has try this combination of equipment: x-t30, ronin sc, and just the usb-c cable (not the focus motor). I had trying to find someone who can work as well with the x-t3.

    What is the little monitor that goes along with the focus knob called?

    • @IsobarBrokenFlame
      @IsobarBrokenFlame  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The tiny monitor between the focus wheel and the body of the Ronin is the DJI Ronin Control Unit.

    • @IsobarBrokenFlame
      @IsobarBrokenFlame  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Carl, the 16-55mm lens is generally too heavy for the Ronin SC. You need to use a counter weight, if you want to use this lens. SmallRig provide counter weights.
      It’s not a pretty solution, but it works.

    Hi, does it only work withe the SC Command unit?

    • @IsobarBrokenFlame
      @IsobarBrokenFlame  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Command unit is not required for focus control on the Ronin. However, you will need the focus wheel. You can mount the focus wheel on either side of the Ronin-SC. Many people choose to have the focus wheel on the right side, if they are right handed.

    Whats that gadget in between follow focus wheel and the body, cheers?

    • @IsobarBrokenFlame
      @IsobarBrokenFlame  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Bran Ristic this the Ronin-S Control Unit. It is not as fully featured as the Ronin App, but if you don’t want to use your phone it come in really handy for quickly checking the Ronin’s balance, adjusting the controls (stick inversion), or adjusting the motor strength.
      Because I film in really cold weather this is really useful to me, as my iPhone would shutdown in cold weather, and it’s also really hard to use an iPhone wearing thick gloves.

      Bran Ristic I’ll do a strip down of my Ronin S / FujiFilm build. I did a buildup, but it was too slow to watch so I didn’t post it.
      But essentially I recommend getting the following:
      - SmallRig quick release plate for the Ronin SC: www.smallrig.com/smallrig-arca-type-quick-release-clamp-for-dji-ronin-s-ronin-sc-and-zhiyun-crane-2s-weebill-s-series-gimbals-dbc2506.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIkeqLz9rJ6wIViO3tCh2xfQHmEAAYASAAEgJo9_D_BwE

      - 1 SmallRig 50g weight: www.smallrig.com/smallrig-counterweight-50g-for-dji-ronin-s-ronin-sc-and-zhiyun-tech-gimbal-stabilizers-aaw2459.html
      -1 SmallRig 100g weight: www.smallrig.com/smallrig-counterweight-100g-for-dji-ronin-s-and-zhiyun-gimbal-stabilizer-2284.html
      - A cheap 40mm Arca-Swiss quick release plate. One with an movable screw, so you can mounted it flush with the back of the camera: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0776SXQCZ/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_api_i_hRYtFbZ44X935.
      I usually balance with the lens set to 23mm, and with the lens hood attached. This gives me a little bit of wiggle room on the zoom without stressing the motors too much. I work in the range 16mm-35mm most of the time. But for indoor recording 23mm is a nice focal length on the APS-C frame.

    • @BranRistic
      @BranRistic 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@IsobarBrokenFlame only thing I haven't got there is the 50g weight, the way I've been balancing my zoom's was at extended max, that way when you retract it doesn't put too much strain on the motors to overbalance, I did that successfully with ak4000 with X-T3 and 18-55, lens being much lighter, also did it with Sony RX10 m4 24-600mm

      DJI active tracking works when a phone is place on the Ronin and Active tracking is activated.
      There are a few tricks to getting the XT-4 to keep you in focus though. face detection, and minimum/maximum auto focus settings for instance need to be configured.

      At this point in time all of the Ronin S and family including RS 2 and RSC 2 is compatible with the FujiFilm X-T4, for pull focus and shutter control via the associated control cable. So there is no need for the pull focus motor.
