    Would have been nice to show how those parts were removed and reinstalled, as well as what type of grease. (You gave a brand, not the type). Thank you.

    Thank you for this. I got their Fj40 and it’s bone dry. None of the “influencer” reviewers don’t talk about this sort of stuff, especially for this model. Much appreciated.

    For a crawler with all a full interior, lights and a hard body with removable top for $329 , I will grease my own axles. The big companies could take note.

      I agree. But i did this for the ones that just think its there. And its always good to check all of your rtr’s anyway.

      How well will this compete against trx4/axial scx 10?

      Agree 💯, they can also take note of the carry case FMS provides with their rigs , haven’t seen anyone else do that .

    Thanks for your explanation and the look in the drivetrain!!! I remeber mine FMS 1/6 Willys MB 3 year ago… the drivetrain of the 1/6 Willys was well greased(i change it to Bel RAY)It is newer wrong to get to the bottom of things. You get to know your RC car and know what‘s going on with it. By the way: i use BEL RAY WATER GREASE for Outborder, it does not absorb water and also protects against corrosion in/with salt water… Have fun with your FMS 1/10 Jeep YJ and have a nice day!!! 👍😀

    With the configuration it has it seems that you will likely end up with grease on the slipper clutch surface after some driving. Just seems like an engineering oversight to me. Every reviewer I've watched that has gone into the gear boxes and axles has the same lack of grease situation you had. As a YJ owner i purchased this vehicle and have plans to do a complete teardown and rebuild before I apply power for the first time.

    What's the difference in using a diff oil vs grease in the axle?

    • @DixielandRC
      @DixielandRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Diff oil generally goes in a sealed unit and not open gears. Grease is better because it stays on what you put it on.

    • @SimplyMustGo
      @SimplyMustGo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DixielandRC Thank you. I got The Mashigan and local hobby shop told me to use the Diff oil but I'm seeing everyone else use grease.

    • @DixielandRC
      @DixielandRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. Please use grease. I have Jims Bearings grease in stock in a little syringe that makes adding grease super easy. Its listed under Fluids on my site Dixielandrc.ecwid.com

    Them shaving their pins down ain’t a bad idea .smaller hole ..SSD use stock pins and I’ve sheared no end of their pinion gears on the axles ..even new gears have broken on their first run .

    While I prefer kits it seems like most people buy RTR’s. For RTR folks who buy FMS I think most folks don’t plan to maintain them. No grease makes me think there’s other things they cut corners on maybe quality of metal half shafts, cvd’s, etc.

      Well any actual hobbyist tears down there RC vehicles to do mantinace every couple of runs anyways, so fully tearing down an RTR is just even easier than building a kit being you get to see it come apart as you tear it down & then reassemble it again properly.

      You will have to cut a bit of the front battery tray thing. But wont be much to have to remove.

    Why you need the grease? all 1/8 bashing/racig cars, dont use grase on the pinion/spur gear

    • @DixielandRC
      @DixielandRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not really in that particular spot. But everywhere else its a good idea. Plus we run these type of trucks in water. Grease is a great water deterrent. Rust is the biggest issue.

    While you are a lucky one the rest of us will never get to buy one unfortunately they have removed all there Crawlers that look like Jeeps. Jeep has sent them notice to remove them including the new Jeep you have. The value just went way up. It was high on my list to buy.
