how it's _not_ great to *see* that they not only release an unfinished product, they lied and lied the entire way through it. How are they so far off from the real 7850U handhelds after so much time? Scamming, lying thieves is what they are!
Big props for the Asus ROG crew for following up and supporting this handheld so much and interacting with the community like this so openly. And for seriously and quickly acknowledging bugs and issues that have arisen both prelaunch and post launch. Quick question, and it’s probably a no, but is there currently any way to get Armory Crate SE to remember your sorting selection and just go back to the last selected sorting when you reboot? Needing to keep changing the sorting every time is kinda tedious.
Appreciate you guys for right away commenting on the deadzone issues…I was real surprised going into AC and seeing the zero deadzone setting active. Thanks Whitson man for responding on discord
Thank you for doing this. Hopefully the community appreciates and supports ROG so they can continue to make great products and challenge the competition.
thank you for doing what? Damage control for their own ass? "Great products"????? How is an unfinished piece of garbage that cannot even compete with smaller companies a "great product"???? 😂😂😂 🤡🤡🤡🤡
yeah, something they should have done _before_ they started asking for people's money, and _before_ they release it. They had multiple chances, and a whole lot of time. They have 2 weeks before just about everyone I personally know returns theirs to Best Buy - and I know a *ton* of people in my group who got it and feels the same; as it is, it's a piece of garbage, plain and simple.
we really need more streams like this now that more and more people are buying the device : some in depth amd graphics customisation, some windows optimisation for gaming , some news on the things you are still fixing and so on
Thank you for working that BIOS update . I have both a SD and ALLY now. So far I’ll be honest, I’m enjoying my SD more but I know with more updates my opinion will change . So thank you !!

Happy to be here, loving my Ally, and can’t wait to see how much better it gets.
Thank you for an easy to follow instructional video for a senior. I have just purchased my ROG Ally and haven’t used windows software for a very very long time. I bought this mainly for gaming. I did find this new device a bit challenging in setting up in some areas. I don’t even know how to save the progress of my installed game yet because it’s so different to a Switch.
I just got mine on drop and I am enjoying it very much after I figure everything out and watched a couple videos on it but I’m really happy to hear that there is going to be support of this device keep up the hard work guys !!
So I’ve been a console gamer my whole life and just found out about the ROG ally from my cousin just this week. I barely ever touched anything PC related. I ended up buying my own and I’m having a great time with it
You don't have to disable embedded controller, if you have another controller connected. Just go into your game controller settings and select a "preferred controller". That worked for me.
Awesome video! This definitely is very encouraging to see videos like this from you guys. Hope to see more in the future and continued support of the ROG Ally like this!
I'm so glad I watch this video because I did not realize that the power button was a fingerprint reader and was able to do a complete factory reset before I fixed everything and cut out a piece of grip tape from pulsar to match the button to cover it and block that sensor

@@kacketnaopacke Perhaps so. After they fix these performance issues, i'd love to see it be a priority, it's an incredible game changer to have good gyro
Integrate gyro into the controls so that we can map it for aiming and such. The Aya neo 2s is the only Windows handheld I've seen integrate it natively
I've had a couple of hiccups with mine, but so far, it's almost what I expected! I knew it was a portable PC, but I thought there'd be more of a focus on it being a gaming handheld that can be a PC and not a PC trying to be a gaming handheld. I definitely do not regret my purchase and I'm excited to be part of it! I started a tech channel because I wanted a Steam Deck, but I'm so happy with my Ally! I would still like a Steam Deck, but the Ally is worth every penny ❤
Thanks for acknowledging the deadzone issues and glad to hear it is being looked at for a fix the inner and outer zones are definitely out from my testing and give a really fast acceleration curve because of that reduced shape making esports games hard to controll with precision
This is perfect this is exactly what people need . Liek they should of just automatically opened this video when u girst start ur rog ally so u know exactly everything
I’d like to see the Command Centre be a mappable button please! Can’t access it via an external controller. Also I’d like the mouse to become available when an annoying dialog window pops up on some games asking if I’d like to start in safe mode or adjust settings so I can dismiss it without undocking please. Or make it dismissible via the controller when docked. If the community has any ideas on how I can fix all this myself other than “just get up and press the button” I’d appreciate it please.
So I've had a chance to play around with the ROG ALLY for about a week now and here's what I can tell you from a consumer's perspective Don't get me wrong its not all bad but its not all good either and thats what I'm here to talk about. I'm going to list the things I like about it first. 1. The performance of this handheld is incredible. From AAA titles to emulation. 2. The screen is beautiful and makes gaming on a handheld worth leaving your big screen either just to game on the couch or on to go. 3. This one might be more of a preference but the fingerprint sensor saves me time from a password or pin login every time put down and pick up my device. 4. The RGB lighting is really cool to look at especially when docked. 5. I like the fact I don't need a third party software to play non steam games or emulators the game pad just works. 6. The easy SSD replacement and bios cloud recovery process is great. 7. Dedicated button for quick access to settings like TPD/ Power Wattage, Airplane mode and switching on/off fps stats 8. The fans are quiet Now let's move on to some of the thing I personally don't like about it. 1. The battery - I would have gladly traded a little extra weight for a bigger battery instead. 2. I don't like the fact the bumper and trigger buttons are even on the top, I found myself repeatedly mistakenly pressing trigger instead the bumper as they are hard to distinguish between the two. 3. Updates - now I don't mind them but there have been times when I'm gaming away from an outlet and for some or most updates it won't let you do so on battery alone and requires you to plug in. I wouldn't mind if it detected 10 to 20 percent battery and then required it but I was well over 70% 4. The rear buttons to me seems more out of placed and annoying than useful as I don't use them. 5. The grips on the side could've had a bit more of a curve to it making it feel more comfortable to hold. 6. The screen could have been brighter for outdoor use which is it's purpose. 7. Navigation, I wish this thing had track pads like the steam deck as the joystick mouse is wonky and hardly accurate on a small screen. 8. The cheap ass paper stand that came with the device, might as well have sent nothing lol but it serves its purpose. 9. Proprietary eGPU - this one I really dislike, the fact that after paying almost a thousand bucks on the device although it's just an option, you want us to pay a ridiculous price for XG mobile eGPUs instead of being able to use our own. That sucks! 10. I don't like the microphones on on any handheld as I highly doubt I'd be doing much multi-player gaming on it and If I did a gaming headset would do just fine as it would be far superior. To me it just boarders privacy concerns. 11. Full blown windows - I just hope with all the handhelds coming out with windows installed that they make a dedicated windows specifically for handheld gaming devices. I would love to see a replacement back cover with lower trigger buttons to distinguish between LB/RB buttons Now would I recommend the ALLY? The short answer is yes If you're into picking it up and just gaming with no tinkering I would say try it anyway and you just might like it.
19:06 I think its showing 15W because you haven't clicked on apply yet so your manual mode is showing 15W On mine I've got it set to 30W and it definitely says 30W on my manual mode Love these vids by the way, been using it as a reference when tinkering with my Ally :)
18:40 there are some bugs in the manual mode profile. I created 3 different manual profiles which are 25W, 20W and 15W, each has all the power settings set at the same value. If I switch from 25W to 20W or 15W, many times the lower power profiles would have one or two power settings remain at the higher settings rather than my set value.
please let us organize games in armory crate. Kind of like how you can move apps around like on an iphone. I find myself going to steam often because you can make collections there.
Heads up if you use a powerful enough third party charger but it says 25w turbo, test some games out. I think the 25w is a visual error when using a powerful enough third party charger. I monitored the Wattage while using a 100w Anker charger and although it said 25w turbo, I was getting 30+ and Resident Evil 4 ran much better 😊
Can we please get gyro software already? I want to assign 1 of the macros to hold to activate gyro. It works great ony steam controller, and I really NEED it here on Ally for the games I play. Gyro was one of the primary reasons I pre-ordered the Ally. Without it, I wouldn't have bothered as I already have a GPD Win Max 2. Now I'm kinda disappointed that I can't use the peice of hardware that I know is in there, that pretty much sold me on the device
Love the rog ally ! You said something about 3 months game pass . I have game pass ultimate. When I signed into it didn't give me a option for 3 months
I did an update on July 13th and my dock no longer works! I can’t play on my monitor because it’s not getting signal, worked beautifully before updating. Please fix this, I only bought this for use with my monitor.
Great work! Couple of notes, I’m seeing Diablo IV guides all over. I’m also seeing that 319 is causing issues. I found that windows set the performance to balanced instead of full on performance in the power settings after 319. I wonder if that solves some issues. Regarding DIV, I’ve got it running perfectly
Hey Asus Rog dev team, two things you should consider. First of all, we have 2 modifier keys but these 2 have the same fonction. We would expect it to have 2 sets of macros with these. Ex : M1 + D-pad up = Fonction 1, M2 + D-pad up = Fonction 2. Secondly, i didn't see any possibility to assign macros for text. Would be very useful to type automatically some text we often repeat (like emails) , especially on that kind of hardware with no keyboard
You can add second functions to almost every button, having a 3rd function would just get confusing. You can even give one of the macro buttons 2 other functions if you need.
What's crazy is that some units show bad joystick deadzone, but some users, like Blunty demonstrated that his Ally has absolutely no deadzone issues, no settings adjusted. This makes me sad to see these kind of issues
In the the division 2 the m1 m2 back buttons I set primary to left & right bumper but in game its backwards u have to set right bumper primary to left m1 button & left bumper to right & in game it works properly & it only works on gamepad mode not on auto
Awesome device I'm loving how easy you made it to use. I have one question, is there a way to recalibrate the joysticks to possibly get a smaller overshoot rate on joysticks? I'm seeing about 8% overshoot on the left joystick and 11% on the right.
Thanks so much for this!! I have an issue with the touch screen constantly stops working? Not sure what I'm doing wrong I have the bios up to date but it just keeps breaking
Thanks for the tips, will the gaming charging dock be coming to Australia soon or will I have to buy the one with the USA plug and use and AUD adapter?
we can give you also some tips and tricks. what about don’t ship un unfinished product, as the Ally is feeling cheap, with cheap joysticks and cheap software implemented. I regret selling my Steam deck for this.
My steam deck wasnt getting used so i made the jump to rog ally today. Found one of those open box at best buy. Seeing as its only been a month or two since it came out it cant be used that much. Just hate that its windows by default so ill probably be fiddling around more than the steam deck
I would really love to have a more granular control of the stick RGB brightness 33% is still too bright for me at night playing, I like have the light but want it dimmer so maybe can we get a 15% option or maybe option to change it to steps of 5% increments
I was lucky and got the last Ally at my local Best Buy today. Loving the device so far. I noticed some of the buttons dont work on the Playstation remote play app. Any fix?
Will there ever be an option to access multiple "manual" operating modes via the command center tab? Due to the current bug where it shows 15W, I am uncertain if this is an available feature. If not, then I think it would be a great inclusion! Loving the device so far and I am excited for the bios fix so I can get better frames in diablo 4.
I would like to see the secondary functions for buttons work when you hold the M1/M2 and then press the desired button. having to tap and release them at the same time feels awkward.
more playing around it seems to be bugged if you set a secondary function to be the xbox button. When you try to use it, it glitches and seems to make any macro functions the xbox button.
Thumbs up for Asus team for monitoring ally.

In the the division 2 the m1 m2 back buttons I set primary to left & right bumper but in game its backwards u have to set right bumper primary to left m1 button & left bumper to right & in game it works properly & it only works on gamepad mode not on auto
Anyway to improve the DL and write speeds for MicroSD?
Awesome device I'm loving how easy you made it to use. I have one question, is there a way to recalibrate the joysticks to possibly get a smaller overshoot rate on joysticks? I'm seeing about 8% overshoot on the left joystick and 11% on the right.
Can we get an official manual mode video with in depth fan curves an different wattages
Would it be possible to add a 6gb vram option? I think it would be a great middle ground.
Thanks so much for this!! I have an issue with the touch screen constantly stops working? Not sure what I'm doing wrong I have the bios up to date but it just keeps breaking
Thanks for the tips, will the gaming charging dock be coming to Australia soon or will I have to buy the one with the USA plug and use and AUD adapter?
can you suggest a powerbank which i can use to play at turbo 30watt
we can give you also some tips and tricks. what about don’t ship un unfinished product, as the Ally is feeling cheap, with cheap joysticks and cheap software implemented. I regret selling my Steam deck for this.
My steam deck wasnt getting used so i made the jump to rog ally today. Found one of those open box at best buy. Seeing as its only been a month or two since it came out it cant be used that much. Just hate that its windows by default so ill probably be fiddling around more than the steam deck
adding a new SSD today, should I do cloud recovery, or is cloning the disk OK to do?
the speaker on the rog are better then almost anything besides an iPad 💯
I would really love to have a more granular control of the stick RGB brightness 33% is still too bright for me at night playing, I like have the light but want it dimmer so maybe can we get a 15% option or maybe option to change it to steps of 5% increments
Love the Ally so far, but I need to get two docks and they are sold out everywhere.
I was lucky and got the last Ally at my local Best Buy today. Loving the device so far.
I noticed some of the buttons dont work on the Playstation remote play app. Any fix?
Love my Ally but please fix the deadzones asap its killing me 😢
Will you guys be adding a PSM app Im trying to play my PS1 classics from PS5/PS4 on the go
Will there ever be an option to access multiple "manual" operating modes via the command center tab? Due to the current bug where it shows 15W, I am uncertain if this is an available feature. If not, then I think it would be a great inclusion! Loving the device so far and I am excited for the bios fix so I can get better frames in diablo 4.
Got mine today and the LB button was not working. I was so exited for this handheld, dissapointed now...
My LB is soft, but does work.
@@johnadams9314 at least it works.. no signs of life on my end (also tested with software). Will return the console tomorrow..
So sorry you got a bad unit. Best of luck with the replacement
Anyone else have painfully slow download speeds in the Xbox app only ??
I would like to see the secondary functions for buttons work when you hold the M1/M2 and then press the desired button. having to tap and release them at the same time feels awkward.
actually this only seems to be an issue with setting the action as the xbox button
more playing around it seems to be bugged if you set a secondary function to be the xbox button. When you try to use it, it glitches and seems to make any macro functions the xbox button.
