    Did that on mine, ZF demands service between 50k to 80k km, dont belive in BMW on lifetime for the gearbox. 💪 Good job

    I use the aluminum cross member behind the rear differential as the rear central lift point on my 535. Works well and no risk to my diff.

      @supremegt  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@kjhnsn7296 yep that works too. I lifted mine from the diff casing a handful of times and no issues, then I found out about the other jacking point afterwards. I think it’s been proven that the diff point is ok, but I agree the crossmember may be a better spot.

    thanks, hope so see one on the rear diff since there is a support in the way only present on f34 not f30

    The manufacturer ZF really indicates what this specific model is: 5, 6, 8 and 9-speed automatic transmissions as well as 4HP20 automatic transmissions:
    Each of ZF's 5-, 6-, 8-, and 9-speed automatic transmissions, as well as ZF's 4HP20 automatic transmissions
    they are filled with specially developed partially synthetic ATF oils and are maintenance-free. Without
    However, due to the many factors that influence the life of gearboxes during individual operation,
    ZF recommends an oil change for its gearboxes every 150,000 km. Under operating conditions with high
    temperatures and loads, or if the vehicle has been used in the past in an unknown way, it may be advisable to change the
    gearbox oil at shorter intervals.
    It must be taken into account that only the respective authorized ATF oil is used for the oil change and that the change
    of oil is carried out according to the corresponding prescriptions. ZF's 5HP18 automatic gearbox is a
    exception and must be filled according to the respective version.

    We have to bear in mind that to do a complete oil change in the automatic gearbox we will have to use a dialysis machine, since otherwise we will only replace less than half of this oil. The rest stays in the torque converter, in the pipes and in the oil cooler. I indicate the link of a Spanish video in which this oil is changed with a dialysis machine in a BMW 5 series. As final data: 8.5 liters added + 2 liters used for prior cleaning of the circuit. It is very interesting: th-cam.com/video/r9PjrGFLuP4/w-d-xo.html

      that is cool, I think the general idea is that a drain and refill which is maybe 6L or so is enough, unless there is some extreme case or specific need to completely evacuate

      This is flushing, very common in germany, but much more expensive.

    silly question, did you leave the car in jack stands while the engine was running during the refill process when you warmed the engine up? when you were inside the vehicle was the car still in jackstands?

    • @supremegt
      @supremegt  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      haha yes I sat in it while I started the engine, went through the gears, and revved it at 2000rpm. Hopped in/out careful and slow. I waited outside the car for it to warm up while I read the temperature data on my phone. Car is pretty planted when properly on 4 stands.

      @@supremegt Recently I started getting a transmission malfunction error. The car drives but in limp mode and I don't know if changing the oil of the tranmission will address the issue. The car is at 145,000 running great except this issue. I probably gotta remove the pan and see whats up later in the day to see what is happening. The Clutch A disrupted error is coming up in ista, any insights you have?

    • @supremegt
      @supremegt  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JaysonFlores-d1p I am not sure about that error. But generally, I would think that by giving the trans new fluid and a new pan helps to keep it happy. But I suggest to scour the forums to see what others have done to fix your issue.

      @@supremegt I would say once the car drives it shifts into the near gear but after downshifting it does it very rough then shortly after into limp mode. I'm almost considering replacing the solenoids while I am at it.

    I think mine wasn't sealed tight enough after a service. It looked to have leaked oil. I'd it possible to simply top up the oil?

    • @supremegt
      @supremegt  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It’s definitely doable to top off the fluid, but I would imagine the trans has to be up to temperature first. And you also want to make sure to address the loose seal beforehand!

    Manufacturers are lying about service intervals.
    The business model of reliability has given way to planned obsolescence.
