As somebody who has had to watch DJ at QB for the Giants since he was drafted. I can’t express how bleak and depressing it is, but I don’t read too much into preseason performances. With his contract, we were always gonna have to keep him for another year. I cannot wait until we move on from DJ next offseason though, because he has been horrendous. I still cannot comprehend why the front office offered him that absurd extension after throwing for 3205 yards for 15 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. He has thrown 60 touchdowns (24 of which came back in his rookie season in 2019.) 40 interceptions in his career so far. Those are brutal numbers for a starting quarterback.

I like our coaching staff, I like our defensive core, I like how promising some of the offensive prospects are looking, if we can get our hands on a good quarterback I can see the Giants finally start to turn things around and make a playoff run. The biggest problem with the Giants drafting Jones was that they massively overreached back in 2019. The draft ceiling for Jones at that time was Top 20 at best, with his floor being the 3rd round. So it came as a massive shock when Gettleman (then Giants GM) selected Jones with the 6th overall pick. Hindsight is 20/20, and the Giants certainly could have picked Josh Hines-Allen at 6th, Dexter Lawrence at 17th, and still pick Daniel Jones at 30th instead of Deandre Baker (who was a bust, and had legal troubles) if he really wanted him. Jones being compared to Eli Manning in some scouting reports also did him no favors, which I guess is why Gettleman chose to reach for him at 6th.
There’s a few reason why the injury and rust excuses don’t work for Jones. He’s running fine, and last year after being paid and not injured he started just as bad with the same issues.

He doesn't have a running game now nor any good WRs and the oline isn't very good. The giants are making the same mistakes most teams make. That is paying the skilled players before building their lines. Build the lines first then find skilled players.

@@TrollKing2781if this was the regular season I would understand but it's literally preseason and he saw real action for the first time in almost a year after he got seriously injured. One of his interceptions was really bad I will give you that but the other one wasn't that bad but then his next 2 drives led to a TD and a FG and he was taking chances by throwing it down field which he didn't do at all last year and he had about as many yards in that half then he was having in a full game last year
