I said the same but RJ Barrett. He didn’t look like a basketball player. A guy could have all the talent in the world but if the guy is 5’5” and 140 lbs he isn’t going to be a football player.
I couldn't believe it when he went on the Gil Arenas podcast and had the nerve to say dieting is hard when you have money 😭😭😭 The things I would do for a private chef and physical trainer
i will never stop saying this; people need to stop putting straight HOF expectations on people who haven't played an NBA game. goes for all major sports, and treating them like gods. it builds ego, sets up a whole fuck ton of pressure to someone who has never encountered that level of it; and overall just setups up completely unrealistic expectations. 90% of these prospects fall short of these heights even if they end up being productive players; and will get called a bust because of it. Andrew wiggins is an example (not exactly like zions situation; zion is uniquely depressing) wiggins was getting called a total bust and a bum while averaging 20 PPG. and didn't get recognition till he won that ring with the warriors.

Zion is such an unfortunate case, he’s one of the best players in the NBA when he plays BUT that’s the biggest when of all time. He should be great but he’s wasting his talent
He had the worst BMI in NBA history going into draft. His best case scenario was being an injury riddled superstar. This is closer to the worst case scenario but still.
Zion’s year at duke is one of the greatest catfishes of all time simply because he could be amazing in the nba if he decided to stay in shape like he did at duke but he just chooses not to
Ill never forget Chucks line that Zion look like if he and Shaq had a baby....Shaq was laughing uncontrollably for a few minutes...it was like a comedic K.O 😂
Add Joel Embid to the mix. A fifth starter, anyone? Wonder why people are turning away from the NBA? Watching overpaid “superstars” pump their chests while fans have to pay a weekly wage for one game in the nosebleeds and you get a sense of what’s wrong with the game and perhaps America. Meanwhile a tiny country like Serbia produces Jokic et al and an actual team that plays together. Could the USA have won a gold without three legends with a combined over 100 years old? Guess we will see who the new “imports” will be on the next Olympic team after Olajuwon and Embid to make it a trifecta.
his weight is an issue but dude had a full resection of his meniscus when he was 19. his whole deal is dunks and overpowering the paint. he cant use his knee. he has no cushioning for his ankles or feet, no support for his calf. wtf did you think was going to happen?
So many fans and content creators willfully ignore the role injuries play and or blame players for this injuries, not taking into account the human body is not built to do the kind of things these players do at their size.
Yeah, but he didn't take care of himself despite of that, he didn't learn anything, continue to put on weight and thus continuing to put more and more stress on his body. See Anthony Davis, when he finally did everything right, he had almost a full season, just missing some games due to load management. If you are getting hurt all the time, you need to understand why and he never did that.
what i appreciate about the take presented in this video is that it's not trying to pull any punches. a lot of other channels seem to downplay or skate around the obvious: he's too heavy. zion's weight seems to have been the greatest contributing factor in his injury issues.
The Pokemon and Persona music in this video makes me smile. My two favorite game series. Also as a life long NY Knicks fan, I've gone from begging Zion to come here, like he supposedly wanted, to now not wanting him anywhere near my team. And I don't even like Duke, and I wanted Zion on the Knicks.

I was friends with some of the basketball players at Shannon forest, the school Zion probably had the most highlights dunking on. One of my friends who played against Zion all 4 years always kept saying that he would never be NBA material. He said that Zion’s moves were always the same, it was just his size that let him succeed. He has no hustle. We all called him being petty cause the whole world saw him get dunked on, but he ended being right. Zion was too lazy for the league. Looking back at some of the high school footage, yeah he never really ever ran for or with the ball.
"he would never be NBA material" "he ended being right" - uhhhh Zion made the NBA, is still in the NBA on his 5th season, is a 2x All-Star, and is on the 2nd year of a $200 million contract, Zion is NBA material. Just not living up to his full potential

Would I really became a Manchild Beast Unfortunately I did not play for those two years But we're talking about a monster human being versus a good young athlete So I don't really know how that would have went down. I'll say this though I was six three two oh five as a junior and Zion Williams and wouldn't have been able to push me around Obviously I was a full-back play in football so I did not care about getting in someone's way period There was nothing like me there when he was playing period figure what they think I'm talking crazy here but yeah I was at a level athlete too I guarantee you I would have kept his ass to 20 period...
Imagine paying a player millions of dollars for them to become fat and unathletic...what are they even paying him for then? There should be things in the contract for stuff like this. If you don't try to honor your part of the deal then they should not be paid.
1:53 “The chances of him falling below his superstar expectations seemed to be slim to none.” Unfortunately, the word “slim” was never in Zion‘s vocabulary.
I'm so sick of Zion's drama. He's like a child stuck in adult's body. He can't lose weight when he has millions at his disposal. It's been extremely hard being a Pelicans fan with this guy as their "leader". Trade this clown and be done with him.
Zion weight is what's ruining him. I don't understand why he's 280. He could be 230 or 240 and still dominate. 230 would be so healthy for his knees and body since he's 6 6.
It is just very sad how the kid can do this to himself and his career. I mean military dicipline is not asked here, just being responsible and diciplined to be a professional athlete! Being paid huge sums of money should alone being part motivator for giving your best for your team that pays you to deliver big numbers, but more so the very luxuary position to be there at all (!) Zion is basically what would’ve happened if LeBron allowed the money, the fame, and the woman to overtake his desire of basketball.
I think LeBron James loves money and power more than basketball. He likes the accolades he gets from playing basketball, but he's not a competitor, and never has been.

Man you don’t understand, that 2022-2023 Pelicans season was one of my favorites to watch. (This coming as a Raptors fan, having seen Kawhi game 7 shot against Phili and winning the chip that same year). That dunk at the end of the Suns game has to be my favorite dunk of all time. I was screaming when he got the ball and was alone, and hyped as he was going up, and the dunk could not be any better. That team was so fun to watch… Alvarado, Herb Jones, Trae Murphy, that young center who got traded to Lakers…
My love for NBA really went down after that Pelicans momentum died…
Food addiction ruined multiple nba careers
There’s been multiple guys who couldn’t control their weight and it ruined their careers he will be the biggest example of this
Oliver Miller, Kevin Duckworth and John “Hot Plate” Williams come to mind. Incredible talent, couldn’t keep the weight off.
@ none of them had the hype zion had
Alot of guys that could have been better if they had trained better also
A big reason Jordan was so good was his weight training
Biggest for sure
He’s like JaMarcus Russell

Before the 2019 NBA draft I stated that the NOP should draft Ja Morant over Zion and dudes called me crazy. Zion never had work ethic. He's one of those guys are just happy to make the league and get paid.
no you didn't dork and so can't prove it either
Ja still plays like he has something to prove. As a Grizzlies fan, how lucky were we to get the 2nd pick instead of 1st.
Morant has better injury resistance than Williamson and Bosh.😅
I said the same but RJ Barrett. He didn’t look like a basketball player. A guy could have all the talent in the world but if the guy is 5’5” and 140 lbs he isn’t going to be a football player.
No you didn't, and if you did, no one cares
It depends on the sport imo. In baseball, if a prospect has a wicked arsenal of pitches at 18/19 yo, fair bet to say they'll be great.
@@Ulquiorra105 sure it's a fair bet to say they will be great, and many of these players touted as being next MJ/Magic/Lebron/Dirk end up being very good;but even being very good or all star level is often only like 60% of the way there to these comparisons. which is where it's unfair (though i know nothing about baseball mostly football, hockey, and basketball). An example is Wemby. has wemby been fantastic so far? Yes. Is he on Tim Duncans pace (who he got some comparisons after being drafted by the spurs). No. no he isn't (tim duncan had an especially fast start tbf)
this is nobody's fault but Zion's - not because "people" "putting straight HOF exceptions on people"
@@roycedot i acknowledged zions a unique case in the initial post, and mainly focused on wiggins as my example. im just saying it's a problem in discourse.

I'm certain that Psalms 137:1 will be the most popular verse in New Orleans for a long time: "By the waters of Babylon there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion."
Blasphemy
😮🎉 damn
When Zion sings Michael Jackson song "Beat It," he changes the words to: "Eat it, just eat it. Take a bag of jelly donuts, and eat it..."
Bro is the LeBron of UberEATS 😂
Zion Williamson is the LeBron James of Jerome "Big Snacks" Jameses.
Dude plays in a city that has the ‘Best Worst Food’ in the U.S.
If dude had the same dedication to his game that he had raw-dogging exotic dancers / blue movie stars, he’d be a true force in the league that desperately needs it.
He is not the best player in the NBA when he plays. 😂
Love that you used "With Mila's Divine Protection" especially the brawl version. It's so good man.
This is the video I've been waiting for.
I want to see a case study comparing Zion and Ben Simmons.
Zions loves food like me.I'm always 10-20 lbs above fighting weight. Now gentle Ben? You need psychological experts
I would trade either of those two guys for Bronny.
Ben Simmons, Zion Williamson and Kawhi Leonard are competing for who can play the least while getting paid the most.
But Kawhi doesn't seem out of shape, he's just fragile af
At least Kawhi has succeeded at the highest level.
Kawhi won a championship ring though!

This is exactly it.
Did that happen while he was at Duke?
What are you talking about he still is good at bball he just can't stay in shape
Hurry up and drop another banger man
The reason why micheal Jordan has surpassed alot of peers cause he really love the game. Zion goal was to make money and say fuck everybody.
Jokic cares more about his horses in a stable then hooping yet he is proper MVP. Just being a pro at his work would do it for Zion.
Jordan was 100% absolutely selfish obsessed with fames and money!
Zion is pregnant with money...twins pregnancy 😂
"Look like me & Shaq had a baby" still one of the funniest off the cusp comments from Charles 😂👏
what i appreciate about the take presented in this video is that it's not trying to pull any punches. a lot of other channels seem to downplay or skate around the obvious: he's too heavy. zion's weight seems to have been the greatest contributing factor in his injury issues.
That plus he has weird body proportions and walks and runs very strangely and off balance.

Nah he's still petty and wrong
Yup...I went to Shannon Forest on a Basketball scholarship...but after middle school I had to go to the biggest school possible bc there was very little competition....had to play football...then to Clemson(like my dad)..but on Varsity 8n 8th grade a Forest I think I put up 23/game....at Mauldin I was just the white boy that could ball and barely play enough to get 5/game...I grew up 5 houses down from KG...those 2 were raised in SAME PLACE.....Kevin went to Chicago for his SR year...the best/toughest competion on the planet #1 ranked and Kevin was the second best player on that team...greatest HS Bball player ever was on that team...I think he averaged 45-50/game...true story...blah blah...I had to quit bball bc couldn't risk injury...it was known where I was going next for my entire life...spot ALMOST reserved..,ALMOST.

1:53 “The chances of him falling below his superstar expectations seemed to be slim to none.”
Unfortunately, the word “slim” was never in Zion‘s vocabulary.
I'm so sick of Zion's drama. He's like a child stuck in adult's body. He can't lose weight when he has millions at his disposal. It's been extremely hard being a Pelicans fan with this guy as their "leader". Trade this clown and be done with him.
He's never been a leader.
Zion weight is what's ruining him. I don't understand why he's 280. He could be 230 or 240 and still dominate. 230 would be so healthy for his knees and body since he's 6 6.
"he was mr tubby" killed me
People Should NEVER Underestimate the power of food. It is just as bad or worse than drugs.
It is just very sad how the kid can do this to himself and his career. I mean military dicipline is not asked here, just being responsible and diciplined to be a professional athlete!
Being paid huge sums of money should alone being part motivator for giving your best for your team that pays you to deliver big numbers, but more so the very luxuary position to be there at all (!) There are thousands of decent young players who despite having lesser tallents and/or great athletic gifts works there butts off to compete and improve there game would kill to be where Zion is
