@@bronzeandsteel3344 I'm up to minds I say he's closer to LeBron than Vince Carter because Vince Carter wasn't that much of a freak,
Because someone who's about 6 ft 6 should be 280 instead of 300. Who has a 44-45 inch vertical, and is capable of scoring more points in the paint than Shaquille O'Neal while being a significantly better playmaker than Shaquille, And who has a good mind for big momentum shifting defensive plays while getting the stats pretty consistently. (when he was in shape,)
Pretty decent rebounder as well but his problem is he just doesn't try. He has all the tools, do you like his physical comparison athletically is Mario Williams from the NFL, if I remember correctly he was about 300 lb 6'4 with a 40 inch vertical. Very few people are even close to what he is but you can tell he doesn't care because he's gotten the money. (It's like how some players play amazing in the contract year but they play like ass after they get the contract)

  • @jeremiahsymonette4781

He didn't squander shit. His ability got him $197million guaranteed before he ever had to prove himself on an nba court. I wouldn't describe this as squandered. Rather I'd label this a mistake by the league to constantly give gargantuan contracts to unproven rookies, stripping them of the motivation to actually play.

“Dieting is hard when you have money”
I would have thought the opposite. I do my best to cook meals every night and make the fairly healthy, but after work there’s multiple times when I have been tempted to just get a takeaway because I can’t be bothered.
As a multi-millionaire NBA superstar, he can afford a private chef to cook whatever he wants, whenever he wants. He can have amazing and healthy food brought to him on demand.
He’s just using it as an excuse. He has access to the sort of support and training regimes that most people can only dream of but he doesn’t have the discipline to stick to it.

Personal chef, trainers, managers! He could tell everyone in his camp to only have certain foods in his home. And it could be the best, freshest foods.
He hopefully has a private gym, so he can save on travel time. But all these mentions of his family having strong opinions feels meaningful. He's in his early 20's and with the wrong people in his ear (focusing on the wrong things, maybe even coddling) that's it for him. The wrong people in his personal life helping to hire the wrong people for his camp or pushing the right employees in the wrong directions... Dang.

@@Rayven2711 Imo, Zion's problem is a complete lack of discipline.
E.g. Giannis arguably has less natural talent than Zion, yet Giannis was worked incredibly hard to improve every single area of his game as well as his physique. I remember when he used to be left open on the perimeter, because his shooting was that bad.
Giannis still isn't good at everything, but there are no longer areas in which he's completely unplayable. That allows him to better exploit the things he's already good at.
Zion entered the league with a much more well-rounded game and definitely a more "NBA-ready" body. He just refused to work on himself like the greats do.

    • @Rayven2711

@@henryviiifake8244 I see where you're coming from and I agree that Giannis has worked incredibly hard and is not the most prely talented player.
I do kinda struggle with the idea of calling "athleticism" talent. Zion for sure is talented and understands the game but not on a level players without the gift of being that damn athletic do. Jokic or Luka are beter examples for me when it comes to purte talent, or guys like Kyrie that has to find other ways than just to overpower and bulldoze guys to be successful.

That’s not why. It’s because having a good American player has always been the way to elevate the league. Larry, magic, Micheal, Kobe, lebum, kid, curry, etc. right now, the best players are from Europe. That usually wouldn’t be bad, except jokic doesn’t even like being in America and he comes off as being very disinterested in basketball. You can’t really make someone like that the face. Also the new stars kinda come off as extremely ghetto personalities that dont appeal to everyone vs the older stars who had a more cool, calm, collected personality that everyone loved and respected.

i will never stop saying this; people need to stop putting straight HOF expectations on people who haven't played an NBA game. goes for all major sports, and treating them like gods. it builds ego, sets up a whole fuck ton of pressure to someone who has never encountered that level of it; and overall just setups up completely unrealistic expectations. 90% of these prospects fall short of these heights even if they end up being productive players; and will get called a bust because of it. Andrew wiggins is an example (not exactly like zions situation; zion is uniquely depressing) wiggins was getting called a total bust and a bum while averaging 20 PPG. and didn't get recognition till he won that ring with the warriors.

An example is Wemby. has wemby been fantastic so far? Yes. Is he on Tim Duncans pace (who he got some comparisons after being drafted by the spurs). No. no he isn't (tim duncan had an especially fast start tbf)

Watching overpaid “superstars” pump their chests while fans have to pay a weekly wage for one game in the nosebleeds and you get a sense of what’s wrong with the game and perhaps America. Meanwhile a tiny country like Serbia produces Jokic et al and an actual team that plays together. Could the USA have won a gold without three legends with a combined over 100 years old? Would I really became a Manchild Beast Unfortunately I did not play for those two years But we're talking about a monster human being versus a good young athlete So I don't really know how that would have went down.
I'll say this though I was six three two oh five as a junior and Zion Williams and wouldn't have been able to push me around Obviously I was a full-back play in football so I did not care about getting in someone's way period There was nothing like me there when he was playing period figure what they think I'm talking crazy here but yeah I was at a level athlete too I guarantee you I would have kept his ass to 20 period...

It is just very sad how the kid can do this to himself and his career. I mean military dicipline is not asked here, just being responsible and diciplined to be a professional athlete!
Being paid huge sums of money should alone being part motivator for giving your best for your team that pays you to deliver big numbers, but more so the very luxuary position to be there at all (!) There are thousands of decent young players who despite having lesser tallents and/or great athletic gifts works there butts off to compete and improve there game would kill to be where Zion is
