That game was so delicious as a Vikings fan who was begging the Vikings to move on from Kirk.
To be fair even when Kirk was hot as a vikings fan I think 3/4 of our fan base was begging them to move on 😅
It's not about the quarterback, it's about what the quarterback represents. Gg kirk
Sus
I’m sad
@TheNamronTV why
Maybe ATL drafting Penix wasn't that bad after all...
As a falcon's fan i knew dude wasn't the answer from day one. SUPER pissed they paid him 180 million dollars
@@Dixon_Cider407imagine being a giants fan 😭
Um. With Cousin’s contract, it was bad. Very bad….
A top corner or edge rusher would help today and next yr. But if Kirk doesnt get better they were never going to be bottom 5 again in that division to draft another QB. Would just spend lots of draft capital to move up into top 6.
The issue was never getting Penix- it was paying Kirk to begin with!
Best WR duo in the NFL. Not to mention a damn good tight end in Hock.
all the Son's making big time plays! SKOL!
Yet, Captain Kirk couldn't get it done despite he had one of best support cast.
Hock has zero skills to avoid injury after being hit. He’s a trainwreck
And their RB is a bad man
@stoveguy2133 id love you see you get clipped at the knees 10 times a game by giant men and not get banged up. Your goofy bro.... Josh Oliver has also been getting banged up. What a stupid uneducated thing to say man. 😂😂
0 TDs and like 7 interceptions or more in about a month is wild.
0 TDs and 8 picks in 4 games is the exact number. He’s really struggled these last games
Sounds like me in my CFM 😮💨
100 million starter about to get benched
😂
He's hit the wall. Age and injuries catch up to all of them at some point.
1:20 More than just a nasty ACL tear, it was life threatening. I was a major fan of Teddy B, he will always be a huge "if only" guy in my book
Idk. He was physically limited. He didn’t really have an NFL caliber arm.
@@Chunkyb514he def has a nfl caliber arm. Purdy, hurts, dak, couple guys getting huge contracts off the top of my head that don’t have a better arm talent than him
@@Chunkyb514 This is a silly, silly comment.
@@johnchedsey1306 No it’s not. This was his draft profile.
A calculated, football-smart, precision-matchup rhythm passer, Bridgewater would be best suited entering a warm-weather or dome environment such as those most common in the South divisions. Would stand to benefit heavily from operating a short, dink-and-dunk rhythm passing game. Compensates for a lack of elite arm talent and prototype measureables with the intangibles and football intelligence that could elevate the other 52 players around him. Instinctive passer with the laser-beam determination to become a Pro Bowl-caliber passer in the right system.
@@Chunkyb514he doesn't really lack arm strength, it's more likely the injury is affecting his throwing stance which is likely affecting his mechanics and his ability to move around in the pocket
People forget that Minnesota wanted to keep Kirk Cousins. What pushed him away was the fact they didn’t want Kirk long term. Kirk Cousins has always looked for the longest contract and Atlanta came knocking on the door before the FA period even started. With Minnesota offering a 1-2 year deal and Atlanta offering 180 mil 4 year deal it was a no brainer he was gonna come on over to ATL.
How long the contract was wasn’t the reason Vikings didn’t keep Kirk. KOC and Kwesi came out and basically said he wouldn’t be getting paid as much and originally Kirk made it seem like it was fine but when ATL came in that changed everything. It was the amount not length, they were ok with keeping him until he retired *IF* the numbers were right
Kirk is *great* at the business of the NFL, possibly one of the best ever. I commend him for getting his bag..over and over and over. Those billionaire team owners can afford it, so I don't weep for them one bit.
Thank you Sam for 35 fantasy points I took the 1 seed in my league
In Sam We Trust
Please. Keep everyone posted on your fantasy team.
I had Sammy, JJ, AND JA in mine. Sweet sweet W
I got Jefferson and Addison but forgot to slide Addison back in🙃 but what’s crazy my WRs are Jefferson, Addison, Puka, Jameson, and DK so 3 out of 5 went for 30+
@thesuperioraffection4502 right? Why does everyone have to talk about their fantasy team? You don't hear me talking about how I killed it week14 with Sam Darnold & Jordan Addison in my fantasy lineup.. or how I locked in a playoff BYE with that win. What's wrong with people!?
Crazy how the world reacted to that $84M contract vs what QBs are getting now 😭
Much better contract. People love overreacting
Kirk is such an enigma. Im a Kirk defender more so than a fan (similar with Dak) but it's hard to defend him this year. He might actually be done. That Achilles injury might have been more damaging than we realize.
They did. Kwesi definitely wanted him back, but for like 1 year 35M probably. They were never even for one second considering matching the Falcons' absurd offer, which guarantees 105M. I think Cousins would be a lot better here as well, I mean Jordan Addison as WR2 is insane, Hockenson as TE, Aaron Jones establishing the run. He would be better if he was a Viking, but Darnold is doing some stuff that Cousins didn't do, primarily with how elusive he is.
Yeah they were ok with keeping longer than a yr too but made it very clear that he wasn’t getting another crazy contract from Minnesota and would probably be backup sooner rather than later
@334ben10 I'm sure the achilles injury made the team nervous to commit significant guarantees. Prior to that, at least they knew what type of QB they'd be paying for. And yet the injury probably made Kirk seek more security in guarantees, so it was never going to work in MIN.
@@mattmckeon1688 the injury didn’t change what the Vikings were going to do. They already had said another big contract wasn’t happening and Kirk was basically all but resigned on a much better deal until ATL came in with that offer. ATL basically saved the Vikings tbh, if they don’t give the crazy contract nobody was either then Kirk basically has to stay, then we don’t go for Darnold, and when JJ go down we would be dealing with this rn😂
@334ben10 Oh, for sure they weren't looking to do another long term deal regardless of the injury, but I'm sure that ruled out any commitment beyond one year at a discounted rate.
Darnolds scrambling in the pocket is next level compared to Kirk. Multiple times he keeps the play alive with his feet. Kirk was a deer in headlights.
What a difference a few months can make. People were saying Kirk leaving and Sam being named QB1 meant the year was basically a write off. Vikings were only supposed to win 5 or 6 games. Sam was going to "see ghosts" again, or whatever and be quickly swapped out. Now the narrative is how the Vikes got Sam at such great value. How maybe they are actually good. It's fun watching all the mainstream pundits have to backpedal all season.
Sam darnold is probably going to be like baker on the rams this was a season for darnold that proved he can be a Starter in the NFL
Looking back at the tape I would argue the Achilles is absolutely a problem. Kirk's ability to plant with his feet is pretty much gone and its why you are seeing his balls thrown appearing to be traveling in slow motion the power he establishes in planting himself has been lost. One example is the camera crew had a goof and thought Kirk's pass was about to hit a receiver but when it panned to his receiver the ball was behind schedule.
If you can pick up on that, how come the Falcons staff can't!? Bench Kirk and usher in the Pennix era b4 the season is lost😢
I agree. Kirk never had the strongest arm to begin with. He was much more of a "rhythm precision" passer. So take away the ability to plant his foot in the ground with force and it's no wonder he been throwing hospital balls.
That’s hurts a lot too because Kirk was a timing and accuracy QB, he never had a strong arm or even close.
@@primeup6955 you have to be realistic. ATL started the season good going 6-2, Kirk was doing good, they were getting some of Pitts/London best production in their time in the league, it just went down hill after that. Nobody saw this fall off coming but look at how much they paying you don’t just give up at the blink of an eye🤣 but now is the time to think about it. Tanking would be dumb, they still have a good shot at playoffs oddly enough, and tbh throwing Penix in now is asking for trouble.
The Minnesota Vikings vs The Buffalo Bills at the superbowl ⏳
Stefon Diggs’ nightmare
Minnesota will get swept by Detroit, again.
This is a great recap!
As a vikings fan thank god Kirl left. It lets KOc be his creative self. Cya Kirko. Thanks for the huge contract and no wins. SKOL. No one takes us a a threat. Legitimate, but hopefully once in my life we can make a run with GEQBUS.
You can actually thank their shitty defense for letting you down, Kirk played at a pro bowl level the whole time.
This is the difference having a top defense makes, the last time we had a defense that could actually make us contenders was 2017, defense is what actually wins championships.
@@alexnicklay8626 LOL dude has thrown 8 int and 0 tds in like 4 games. real Pro Bowl. I agree though the D is a huge part, and Flores is cooking.
@btoso32 this year is very different than his time in Minnesota, his injury is likely still affecting his play.
he's definitely having a pretty bad stretch, but acting like his better play at the beginning of the season isn't showing that he can still play better and potentially get back on track.
@@alexnicklay8626 nah you're right. He was lighting it up at the beginning of the season. As it stands though, I'm still good with him moving on to a different team.
@btoso32 I was watching the Vikings/Falcons play live and I hate to tell the haters, but 22 of 36 for 344 yards is still pretty good production despite no touchdowns.
Kirk was also making great passes for most of the game and the 2 interceptions were mostly good plays by the defender.
It's annoying that everyone blames Cousins and his not throwing a touchdown when the Falcons secondary gave up 5 touchdowns alone and literally just gave up during the play on 2 of those touchdowns.
Kirk could have thrown 3 touchdowns and 0 interception and they still would have lost. Anyone who says Kirk played bad enough to be benched didn't actually watch the game because the Vikings did not dominate this game the way people keep reporting it and only really took control of the game completely when the Falcons defense completely collapsed in the 4th quarter.
I sure hope the Viking keep Darnold! Mn Viking fan for 45yrs
was getting Tarkenton flash backs watching him especially scrambling. Lol
2022 was my favorite season of recent memory
If they gave Kirk what he wanted, Greenard, van Ginkel and Jones are probably not here. 10 Mil. vs 45 Mil./year QB's.
And that's the reason the Vikes are actually contenders, they have good defense
To be clear, the Vikings still have a 28.5 million cap hit for Kirk this season and were perfectly fine with sticking with him this year.
So they didn't know exactly what they were doing.
Vikes fan here. I was telling everyone on sights he had a surgery on his planting foot and we didn't know what cousins was gonna be.
Yea we all knew that was gonna be the worst contract in history
Better to quit a dude a year too early than a year too late. We quit Cousins right on time.
Vikings moving on from Kirk is the greatest thing to happen to the franchise in decades.
Moving on from Diggs to end up with Jefferson might be bigger. If it somehow worked out with the $ and they kept Kirk this year I bet he wouldn't be slumping and the Vikes would still be at least in the playoff hunt. (Also imagine you'd have a different draft if you didn't trade up for McCarthy...)
All we need is for Zach Wilson to emerge somewhere as a quality starter to complete the trifecta of Jets "busts" succeeding elsewhere. Genuinely happy for Darnold. The guy worked hard to get where he is now. For max chaos, it would be amazing to see him lead the Vikings to the super bowl.
Who's the other one? Geno Smith?
@@reignman30yes. That's all 3 of the "future" franchise QBs the Jets F'd up. Zach will start again. Probably Vegas next season.
Vikes are not in a weird position at all. The reason they win is mostly because of KOC, not the QB. The whole point is to keep a cheap QB and build around them. KOC has proven he can get the best of any QB. What a great position for the Vikings to be in! JJM is up next year almost 100%, unless they want JJM to sit one more year and Darnold stays one more year on a lower end contract, again.
Darnold isn’t going to stay on a lower end 1-year deal- this is his audition to be a starter again in this league and some other team will be looking to add him. Definitely something I’d never thought I would say about Sam Darnold, but it’s happening.
Rams will try to get Darnold on a Baker-style contract and have him become Stafford’s successor. Calling it now
The Vikings are winning because of Flores more than KOC. Flores is doing a lot more with less on defense. With the weapons KOC has to work with on offense, 40 points should be the norm, but he struggles to get to 23.
@@reignman30exactly!!!
Vikings situation reminds me of the bucs a lot. Signed baker after everyone thought he washed, comes in to a system with weapons and a good coach and balls out. Sam will probably be resigned unless he demands a huge contract. I don’t see the Vikings letting him walk.
Ive never understood why people think cousins is a good QB... He has the same amount playoff wins as Daniel Jones. He puts up good numbers but look who he had. In Washington he had Djax and Garcon and in Minnesota he had Dalvin cook and JJetts and in Atlanta he has a lot of weapons why do people keep making excuses for him...
He is a good qb, but he’s battled to many injuries and is to old now. Vikings and Washington Kirk cousins is a good qb, but this year he’s washed
What injuries he missed a game in MN due to covid and then injured the achilles his last season in MN? Don’t believe he missed any time in Washington either. He has 1 playoff win and a bunch of worthless stats.
Because Kirk is the most underrated player in NFL history and the greatest QB in the history of the Minnesota Vikings.
Don’t forget Stephon diggs as well when he was a Viking
The Vikings offered Kirk a new deal so it’s not as simple as ‘they moved on’ they just couldn’t agree on a contract due to salary and length. KOC would have liked him to stay.
Comparing them to the chiefs and Pat has 3 chips is wild
Atlanta only mistake was not trading back last season so this year they could draft Shaduer 😂
JJ has to be our FRANCHISE QB. Imagine what he’ll form into under Kevin’s tutelage and being able to witness a year like this with a QB like Darnold. I know darnold is doing great but barring a SB win or at least a very competitive championship loss? I don’t even want to think about re-signing. The age alone is a such a good reason to stick with JJ. And the only reason not to would be like I said a great Sam performance overall and his knee still being an issue.
My only problem with Cousins is the ridiculous contract terms drafted by former Vikings GM Rick Spielman. I need to stress, I am not faulting Cousins for accepting the terms, since that was literally the best deal he was ever going to get. However, that fully guaranteed deal was what started the "poisoning of the well" effect in the QB market. People clown on the Browns for that Watson contract, but the precedence was set by the Vikings cause Spielman was so dang desperate to secure the services of a QB. Part of the Lamar Jackson contract dispute is also linked to this "fully guaranteed" madness, and while the Eagles have mitigated this issue when they gave Jalen Hurts his big payday, the damage has been done.
Don’t forget, we also have Daniel Jones on our practice squad. The Vikes might have the best or one of the best 3 string qb room. Last year proved that the future was mobile, it has really opened the playbook. Also with B Flo’s defense, some argue overrated, but it’s significantly better than two seasons ago where we were dead last in many stats.
The Vikings had average defense during Cousins tenure,
I have a strong feeling Darnold will be discarded just like Keenum was immediately after an over performing unexpected season for them. Unless he wins a Super Bowl for us, I don’t see him sticking around.
I watched the game, that was a blowout
Apparently, you didn't watch the game because it wasn't a blowout, but i understand you want to be heard, so that's why you wrote that bullshit comment
@MrFatboy1987 42-21 is a blowout in the rest of the world kids
The 4th quarter was a blowout, but it was tied at 21 entering the 4th, and the Vikings were struggling. Kirko and the Falcons defense completely fell apart in the 4th. Several of those TD passes by Sam were just short YOLO balls where the DB fell down or got lost. Mike Hughes was ass.
@@reignman30 😉🍿
The Falcons have a rookie they can put in to get some experience
KOM for exec of the year and KOC for coach of the year.
0:26 *exactly!*
In Kirk’s defense, he probably forgot he wasn’t on the Vikings anymore so he kept passing to them.
Defense wins championships!
Sam Darnold had a similar problem. The team that drafted him, didn't give him the time and tools to win.
What would people be saying if Aaron Rodgers had come to Minnesota. Or Russell Wilson. Both these guys would be having the same
kind of year that Darnold is enjoying. It's the same offense that Cousins had. The O-line has not improved much, but it is a little better if
they could keep the same five guys on the line. The Defense is without a doubt the difference this year. The same potent offense with a
much more aggressive defense. Yes, Darnold deserves praise for what he has done. But people have to stop blaming Cousins for what
happened before.
no matter jj health next year you keep sam as starter
Tag and trade might bring multiple first round picks at this point…
@ not sure they get multiple, the winning formula is let rookies sit at least two years and let them learn.
@quest4adventure495 1st round picks for sam Donald 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Thanks for that laugh bro
@ he’s a top 8 quarterback. That’s worth more than you think.
I mean, by definition, it was a blowout game. Winning by 21 is always a blowout, regardless of when the points were scored.
Vikings capitalized on a fumble to make it a 2 score game. By that time it was over.
Funny thing is it’s STILL not as bad as the giants situation 😂
If the Vikings really knew EXACTLY what they were doing, they would have never signed Kirk Cousins to begin with in 2018. Kirk made $185 million in Minnesota and the team never surpassed the performance of the 2017 team.
Well I get signing him originally in 2018, but he never should've been extended. 3 years was all we needed to see to know he wasn't the answer. That Saints playoff win in 2019 doomed us to 3 more years of misery with Spielman, Zimmer, and Kirk. The triangle of mediocrity.
No way Sam comes back. He'll make bank this summer.
Darnold is a good example of what you can do when a qb doesn't eat up a huge chunk of your salary cap. Darnold, Jefferson, Addison and Jones =70 million, Prescott =70 million....
And we were able to add AVG, Greenard, and Cashman on defense.
We wouldve signed him for 35-38 million. 45 is insane
All the people who are upset about them drafting Penix can now relax😂
Kirk cousins lol you fools believed in him, I pity the fool
As a Vikings fan, Kirk had one good year and in that single year he was mediocre at best.
Didn’t Kirk throw for like 400 yards 8 weeks ago 😭
Buccaneers are the best team in the south they've battle all season with numerous injuries to key players
so thankful kirk left. he was always too safe and when shit got dicey he always made a bad flag or did a bad check down
This team’s ineptitude should be studied one day. One of the hardest teams to try to support for sure. A revolving door of failed coaches/assistant coaches, once big name players either coming off of injury or close to retirement, and mediocre draft picks that wouldn’t be starters anywhere else. It starts upstairs.
I’m a diehard falcon fan and if we made the playoff, does it matter…. why do people wanna see us make the playoffs so we can get our ass kicked in the first round?… I rather see Tampa Bay win the division they most definitely deserve it
Don't feel bad for Kirk. He's 5th all time in career earnings and everyone ahead of him has played more seasons. He'll be just fine.
I said something day 1 6 years before this win. I said kirk wasn't the answer. I knew we could win without a franchise price tag qb. Kirk is overrated overpriced and overpaid for what we got
To be clear, Minnesota wanted to re-sign Kirk. But Kirk is only loyal to himself and robbed Atlanta instead. If they ( Vikings ) knew what they were doing, they wouldn't have signed him to the mega deal in 2018. Terrible decision. How dumb is Atlanta? This guy won a single playoff game.
As a MN fan, what goes unsaid here is Kirk's a creepy weirdo. He's the Ron DeSantis of NFL quarterbacks.
I don’t think you should sign him for what he will want. Unless he comes at a discount. BUT yall have a great future. I mean, any QB could fit nicely in this system. Your system is making it successful, not SD. He’s not special. Your system is special.
@jrkc9218 The Vikings Absolutely have to resign Darnold!
And people woder why they drafted Penix. ATL knew what they were doing with Cousins too
Falcons didn't know what they were doing with Cousins when they paid him so much though 😂😂
They knew what they were doing by wasting $100m on a QB that was going to lead them to 6 wins lol? They were 6-7 this time last year too with Ridder and Arthur Smith.
It was always going to be Sam Darnolds team. JJ was gonna sit the first year regardless
Man out here putting up ridder numbers. Hell might be worse
Not quite, but same record through 13 games 6-7.
The Vikings always know EXACTLY what they're doing, but they haven't won a playoff game in 5 years and the trophy case is still empty. The Eagles have been to a Super Bowl since drafting Reagor over JJ, and we've only been to the playoffs once. This team might not be as fraudulent as the 2022 team, but I still think they're going to be one-and-done. They'll end up as the 5th seed at 13-4 and lose on the road to the #4 seed 9-8 Bucs or Falcons. Kirk getting the last laugh would be such a Vikings way to end the season.
Except they offered him a contract. He would be playing better on the vikings as well.
I never wanted is to sign this bum but this was Arthur blank's genius call and now he's gotta pay for fools gold. Minnesota fans warned us... but most of us didn't wanna listen smh I can't wait until we bench this guy and start Penix
The problem with most of these NFL owners they tend to make decisions out of fear, now take Kirk this man has never done any thing of significance he’ll win you a few games but at the end of the day he’s terrible. The one thing I can say about him he knows how to get these huge contracts.
Im just here to say the vikings never know what they're doing.
The empty trophy case is proof of that xD.
Told folks the first day they signed him it was gone back fire 😂 Kirk sucks in the playoffs
Kirk still can’t beat winning teams. He’ll beat up on losing teams but I feel like we had a great squad for a few years with Kirk but couldn’t do much with them.
Ed Donatell was terrible as well I couldn’t stand the defense
I skipped most of your video because most of it is a recap of a jilted lover.
42 points ain't a big win...
.the credibility of this guy just went out the window
By KOC standards? It was his first 40+ point game, and nearly his largest margin of victory in 48 games as HC lol. The Vikings haven't seen a 40 point game since 2019, which was the 2nd longest drought in the NFL, only ahead of Carolina.
I likey Sammy D ❤❤
Lucky they didn't start Bridgewater, he's worse than Cousins. Darnold is way better than either
No Revenge Dagger for you, Kirko...
Careful, that could fall into the "things that didn't age well" category. The Falcons are still in good shape to take the NFC South with their easy remaining schedule, which would make them the 4th seed. With the way the Lions are playing, the Vikings are just about locked into the 5th seed. 5th seed plays at 4th seed wildcard weekend. Imagine winning 13 games again, and getting bounced by a 9 win team again. That would make KOC the next Marty Schottenheimer.
7 yrs one playoff win. Thankyou for ur service Kirk.
Did anybody notice how the ATL offense moved the ball? They may be a bad team in a bad division, but I saw a team that can move the ball. Watch out when the post season begins. Can you say sleeper?
They will have to win their bad division to make the playoffs. They are now in 2nd place behind Tampa.
The last Vikings drive it looked like the Falcons defense completely gave up. Their steam might be coming to an end.
You can throw 500 yards but 0tds matters
Don’t be fooled. The Vikings defense is not that good. It’s all scheme. They have no big names and will be exposed in the playoffs.
All I know is the Falcons screen game was working just fine, so I guess we know who the problem is in that department now that KOC still struggles to run them.
I hope bucs win out so we dont have watch cousins throw ints playoff
Did you really just say that Minnesota is a real contender? 😂😂😂. Contender for what?
one-and-done
🐻⬇️
KIRK IS A CHOKER BYE
Kirk, no playoff wins😂 sad
Pure luck. Vikes haven't been seen in a Superbowl since the 1970's, and have never won one.
Kirk cousins is just a white Dak Prescott
Focus on the team, not the QB. Cousins is still way better than Darnold, but they have a crappy defense and only one RB which means Bijan will be tired and limit options considerably
Sam is Kirk 2.0
Should have moved on from Kirk years ago
Shoulda been 2018. That told us everything. Top 5 defense, thielen, diggs Rudy cook etc and went 8-7-1
Atlanta paying Cousins was as silly as the Jets paying Rodgers. One being a never was and one living off a lone Superbowl not unlike Jim McMahon and Trent Dilfer.
Not sure if you even watch football. Last season with Vikings he was MVP candidate. Vikings issues were defense. But be another white QB hater who wants Penix to start. Just say it
Cousins stats speak for themselves. Cousins put Jefferson on the map. In Minnesota, Cousins rarely got the protection he needed but
still found a way to win games. Cousins took more hits than any other QB in the entire league, and he kept getting up.
With Cousins, the Vikings had an awesome offense. But the defense couldn't keep a lead and important games were lost because the
defense caved. Cousins and the offense would get a lead and the defense would lose it in the final minutes.
You say lucky,This isn't luck.
