Ain't a more inspiring 10 minutes of film in existence. From the music to the juxtaposition of the two warriors training for ultimate battle, leaving nothing on the table. Beautiful cinematography as well with the cold hard winter of Russia making Rocky even stronger. Love it!!
I know why. I watched the documentary on the making of the director’s cut of Rocky IV, and during the editing of the “No Easy Way Out” driving montage, Stallone wanted straight-on closeups of his face edited out. His reasoning is that it feels purely vain and reminds you that you are watching a movie. They didn’t show him talking about the ‘grabbing the picture of Drago’ part, but it’s safe to assume the same reasoning applies here.
Removing Rocky crushing that picture of Drago was the biggest crime to this re-edited training montage. Yes, it was cheesy (and Stallone was trying to remove the cheese) and it also looked like Rocky was confident in destroying Drago despite getting destroyed straight away... BUT... crushing that picture at the peak of the 'Hearts on Fire' song was the embodiment of 80's passion (and the song itself). If you're going to use something as inspirational and over the top as 'Hearts on Fire', then go the distance with the scene itself. The picture crush fit like a glove to this Movie.
Yes, you knew Drago was toast when he crushed the picture. That moment and others helped created the juxtaposition between the pre Adrian arrives moment, where he’s not as motivated and the post, where he’s ready to go full on. Now you can swap either montage and it wouldn’t make much of a difference.
What’s nuts is Stallone basically completely cut her out of this director’s cut because she is his ex-wife, compare this scene to the original one and it’s 90% identical except for the new aspect ratio and the fact every shot of her face has been removed.
The original movie has a special place because of how raw it was. But, Rocky IV is very close…I can’t but help love this movie almost as much. The 80s were the best.
The scene when rocky lift his wife n friends up n drago lifting the weights up n plus when rocky screams drago’s name on top on the mountain always get me goosebumps everytime🙏😎😂❤️
The Rocky 4 movie started my whole journey in life in Judo and Jujitsu and weight training back in 1985. Still pushing and training after all these years. The only thing is that it just gets harder to keep up the level of fitness as every year passes by as of 2024. God willing I hope to keep pushing on. This has kept me on the straight and narrow path both physically, mentally and finally spiritually. Sylvester Stallone you inspired me to keep on pushing. God Bless you for that
I honestly like this version of the montage better then the first but only because of the extra added scenes That being said… I wish sly would have kept the part of him crushing the picture of drago That literally was the only thing missing and this would have been the perfect blend of montage Before the fight
Rocky training like an Ancient Warrior, Drago training like a modern athlete. Rocky training like Viking in the cold weather and harsh environment, Drago training like soft modern days inside a gym. Just incredible training montage. INSPIRING.
I miss when movies had their IT moment like “remember the scene in the movie where…” you don’t have that these days. Also moments like these are burned in your memory. I remember seeing this when I was 8 yrs old and to this day I always remember fondly and come back to this video to relive nostalgia.
It's crazy there was a lawsuit when they filmed this because they exposed equipment that wasn't supposed to be seen by the public yet. It makes you wonder how far ahead they really are with technology then what we know. Especially since this was way back in the 80s.

As a 12 year old, this film changed my life literally 😊❤ thank you Dad for taking me to see the film at the odeon cinema in 85 ❤
For real, this Is the greatest, most inspiring montage in movie history... This and the I Got A Name sequence from Django Unchanged are 2 of my favorite movie scenes ever
One of many reasons why Drago is training. He knows Rocky is the best of the best and he shouldn't underestimate him. Drago also knows it's a revenge fight more than anything else. I really like this cut . It's too bad sly didn't keep what he had and just mix the 2. Like the robot, the beginning with him and creed fighting each other for fun. That would have made it the ultimate Rocky lV 👍🏻💯🥊🇺🇸
Drago from the beginning was the only character in the Rocky franchise to never underestimate his opponents. Apollo underestimated Rocky and drago. Clubber underestimated Rocky more or less, but not as much as Apollo. But drago was heavily prepared for Rocky and Apollo in the first fight, he didn't trash talk but just boxed. He let his actions speak for him.He lost, but he lost with honour.
He DID underestimate Rocky. Drago has never had to go that long, he didn't think the fight would last as long as it did. Rocky is used to going 15 rounds because he's done it twice before. He's also used to fighting taller and heavier opponents.
minute 2:25 is the best to motivate you!!!!! when i see this in 2:25 !!!! i want to go to the gym inmediately!!! i love these video , thanks for sharing...

One thing I say with all the Rocky movies number that Sylvester Stallone and Dolph London push themselves to the Limit with their workout routines a lot of people say that's a kind of motivation people need🎉
He said in the extras that his thought process back then was not to prolong scenes (the dramatic ones in particular) because the audience might get bored. But with this cut in its entirety, it feels more emotional than the theatrical cut, which means Stallone accomplished his goal imo.

Poucas coisas mudaram, ao contrário ouve cortes no começo do filme que faziam parte da nossa memória afetiva no inicio do filme. Sempre amarei a versão original.🎉🎉
I disagree with those who think the sound editing is better here. It's pretty apparent some of the sounds were artificially made for some of the segments and amplified in others. A lot of this is unnecessary considering the audience isn't going to be interested in what the feet sound like running through the snow or the clanking of dumbbell weights. It's about pumping the audience up for the big fight ahead, not about giving them the gym experience. These added sound effects detract, heavily, from what made this montage so great. Even the prolonging of "Hearts on Fire" near the end is too distracting in order to add in an extra piece of footage that, either, should've been discarded or could've replaced another segment elsewhere. I do enjoy this cut, but the Training Montage, here, feels less exciting. For some things in life, less is more; and I believe that's the key to sound effects in the montage.
