  • How's it going, this is an updated samus/part two to my previous Samus guide. It won't go over anything I covered in that video.
    Thanks for almost 1k subs!

    Thanks, this really helped me as a samus main. I really did not know just how powerful of a combo starter down b was!

      as a ness/lucas main with samus as a secondary, does this mean I have 250.5 IQ?

    This is awesome, really helped me pick up my Dark Samus game, sucks that 3.0 hurt her shield break capabilities but she's still super fun to play

      @Dylan thanks I’m glad! Don’t worry shield breaks were nerfed but charge shots shield stun got better which is more practical in some situations anyway

    Thanks for these videos! I've been playing Samus for years and still have a long ways to go, but these give me a lot of good things to keep in mind to improve my game with her!

    I’ve been maining samus since n64 and I absolutely agree that Samus drives good spacing habits into you that can be taken with you for every fighter. It also drives patience and slowing down as well, which is often where I see most people fumble. A lot of people just dash at you right out the gate and don’t stop coming at you till it’s over. If you aren’t thinking about what your gonna do next and, instead, relying totally on instincts then it will hinder your ability to take the game further. But anyways just watched part 1 and this one, great videos bro. If you put out more content like this for more fighters then you just got a new sub from me :)

      @Diego Moncada have faith friend, everything comes with practice. Whats giving you the most trouble? Unlike most samus mains I’m not like a Metroid fanatic and I haven’t mained or even pocketed samus in previous games. I’m sticking with her (but technically mostly dark samus) simply because the playstyle (her movement and mindgames especially) flows very naturally for me and I’ve put hundreds of hours into labbing her but i still practice every day (technically 6 days a week lol) because i know I’m not even near samus’ full potential. Not everyone naturally fits with the character they want to play just like people with musical instruments or any skill, and some people simply have to work harder and smarter to get what comes easily for others, but that does NOT mean you can’t learn and improve drastically. But imo the harder worker and more experienced player almost always comes out on top in the end despite natural talent. If you’ve played samus for years and haven’t improved much it probably means that you’ve been developing bad habits or haven’t been practicing efficiently. Try to recognize those bad habits and develop exercises to break them and every time you pick up a controller dedicate just 10-20 minutes and focus on trying something new and practicing bnb stuff in training mode. You will improve for sure

      Sorry for the essay but I’m passionate about this lol. Come check out my stream one of these days and gimme the details on what you’re struggling with and I’ll do what I can to help you out

    This is very helpful but the quality on this video is very low compared to your last one

    • @Dr.Jay.
      @Dr.Jay.  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Boamere Thanks for the feedback, glad I at least got the info down well! If you don’t mind me asking, is it mostly the audio/video quality, my voice, or the structure that you don’t like as much? I’m in no way a good video editor (up until last week I’ve been recording all audio on my phone and using cut replays from an sd card lol) so I’d love to hear what I can improve on for the next one. And if you want more martial arts/military strategy theorycrafting application, don’t worry I gotchu on the next samus vid lol

    Hello! Do you know how quik charges his charge shot and then dashes right after? Instead of rolling

    • @Dr.Jay.
      @Dr.Jay.  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alex Pham hihi! There are actually a couple of different ways to cancel charge, but the easiest and most common is to tap the shield button without moving either stick in any direction. The shield will start to go up canceling the charge, but if you let go of shield fast you can dash or whatever right after. You can also cancel charge while landing by double jumping at a very exact time before landing (kind of like an L cancel from melee) but it’s really hard without practice and isn’t that much more effective then just tapping shield

    What do you think of samus vs palu match up?

    • @Dr.Jay.
      @Dr.Jay.  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Ashton Allen I personally hate it lol. She’s tall and not very mobile and the counter is soooo annoying. Online it’s a very very hard matchup. I haven’t played any really good palutenas on lan but even from playing my more casual friends it’s really tough. Zair gets straight up beaten buy explosive flame, and Palu up air is death to samus. It’s not impossible, and combos work well against palu and you can ko her early but it’s tough man. I’ll comment again if i think of any tips for it

    What's the controller input to turn around during an aerial charge, like you do at 6:39?

    • @duicor
      @duicor 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nvm I rewatched your first guide and found it, missed that on my first viewing (press B in the air, then immediately tap the stick to the direction opposite you're facing, for anyone who also didn't know)

    • @Dr.Jay.
      @Dr.Jay.  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you don’t want to shift your momentum when you do it, tap the stick in the opposite direction and then press b (stricter timing I think)

    is it just me or does dark samus stall on the ground for an extra moment after an up B?
