My goodness. Really big thanks to all the devs sho worked on this. Gotta love the community! Thanks for the Vid ETA!
Mind blown...cannot wait to get home and get this going on my build. Thanks for the heads up
Yay...I got some love from my favorite TH-camr. Lol
The time and effort blows me away. Thank you team for this amazing work.
Thanks we work very hard at then 🙂
SO AWESOME! I've been following this development for a couple months. When I heard how massive this project was I could never imagine they would have a release this soon.
Watching you got me into Pi's and modding, I been building high end gaming computers since ASUS came out with the extreme mother boards starting with the x79 platform, Now I'm going nuts with the PI's , Thank You!!!
Sara, David and team need a pat on the back. They have done amazing work.
haha so have you Dwayne!! ;)
THE LEGEND
You are a king eta prime. UK reteopie user here ....love your channel I'll tell you all mates about it. I'm actually 40 year old family man ....I'm like a kid with this stuff!!!!!!
ETA Prime !!! You are best sir !!!! I setted up my retropie all because of you !! You're a true retropie consultant for me !!! Great job !! Really really appreciate it !!
This is sooo bad ass! I just hooked up nes and this is crazy! I can't thank ETA PRIME enough for constantly educating all of us on the latest and greatest from retro pie and a big shout to all those who worked on this and all retro pie contributors for making all this awesome stuff!
That is so cool, thanks for always doing this cool videos, and showing us the right way to install it.
This is amazing, thank you to everyone on this project including you ETA Prime!
I need to apologize that Arcade Paradise didn't get mentioned in the credits. He is a great contributor to the project.
I’ll put on the list. I only received a small list so I wasn’t sure who else to add. Thanks for the heads up.
ETA PRIME don't worry mate. Good work we make, good community we have
Great work with all that you do. Fantastic!
ETA PRIME hi ETA, when I run the install script, it downloads 100% of any system I choose but then lists error unable to create.... File name location etc for every included ROM, any ideas? Thanks for all the great videos anyway
This is incredible nice work guys, must have been a huge project and a hell of lot of hours days and weeks that went into it. Thanks so much :)
Just amazing. Its just crazy the effort you guys put in this project.
Thanks so much for making this video ETA! We have a lot of fun making these, if anyone wants to help make them and join the team we would love to have you on board! -The Bezel Project
Very awesome, thanks guys.
Outstanding. Great work by the whole team.
Well done to all the devs this is great and thanks for the simple and easy to follow instructions eta
This will be awesome for handhelds!! Thanks a ton ETA!!
Just installed it and i love it!
its still a bit picky about which games it displays, for some reason it works only half of the time for genesis, end for nes and snes it 100% of the time but it doesn't always get the specific game bezel and goes to the default nes or snes bezel (zelda and zelda II for example)
But still, i love how they did this and you bet that im going to follow this project!
There were some missing ones we caught that didn't make it in the original upload, try to update it and you'll see them now.
Shadey Mcbones ~do you know if this script is still available? I tried a good 10 times to download it when it come to the chmod part it kept on saying no such file found 😟
this is perfect just wat i was missing , now i need to have my own bartop cabinet this will rock ...
Great Respect For The makers and ofc ETA :D !!
Thank u for this. It's like Christmas in May.
This is amazing! Ty to the team for their hard work!
So dope! I’m going to check the translated roms, hacked roms and originals!
Well, so far, nes has gotten me a general bezel, megadrive doesn’t install..... and master system gave me a general bezel as well. It’s probably the roms I use. Also, the nes bezel cuts part of the screen off, which is a minor thing. The general bezels look great too
When I set the overlay to crt pi curvature, the aspect fits better in the neo geo/Arcade bezels
This is amazing and truly made my cabinet look and feel like some of the original games...kudos to the developers
fantastic. I'm really trying to get my Retropie tuned to how I want it and this is like another piece to that to really help me fine tune it.
I was wondering what this was, it was in the menu on my RK2020, and this is awesome!
Why do the bezels I downloaded look different than the ones in this video? They just show the system on the left, and the cartridge, logo and box art on the right. How do I get the style from this video?
those are system bezels, Instead, download theme bezles. That's what I did
I can't wait until this is available for Retroarch. This would be so cool to have along with Launchbox since I don't have a raspberry pi
FYI - Aug 2021 - Arcade/MAME bezels NOT WORKING. It now appears as if there are 2 sets of bezels to choose from. System or Theme style. But there is only one enable option for the system style. I downloaded the "Theme style" bezels first. Tested some games and no bezels. Then went to enable and there was two options. "Arcade" or "MAME libretro". Enabled both of these but still no bezels when I play arcade games. Then downloaded the "system theme" bezel pack and enabled both "Arcade" and "MAME libretro" again. Still no bezels. Didn't try any console bezels. Checked the pi and the bezels exist in the overlays directory. However looking at the settings when playing a game - the overlay option is switched to OFF. But when switched to ON. The correct overlay is displayed. The final and critical issue I had is that overlays DON'T FIT ! Looking at the config files for the overlay - there is no video image size specified. For the horizonal games I tested, the game video was a bit smaller than the bezel so it is not the end of the world. But for the horizontal games I tried the bezel was narrower than the game screen size - so you can't see all the game action making vertical shooters impossible to play. I am testing these bezels on a clean build from the latest official RetroPie image. I have not changed any video settings. Looking at other arcade bezel packs they explicitly specify the screen size so that the game screen fits perfectly in the bezel. Every MAME game represents different video hardware and CRT display. Therefore you can't have a core level configuration to make the image size fit the bezel.
Thank you ETA you really helped me with this one great video
Thanks so much for all your videos. They have helped heaps
Ive done what Im suposed to but it doesnt show up in the retropie menu and I dont get the generic bezel around my psx games
Thanks ETA, late to the party on this but now done
For SNES only the generic one would install. The one that says "The Bezel Project" in the lower left corner. Even after removing the core override file in my SNES config folder and reinstalling the core, and reinstalling the bezel pack, it still produced the same issue.
It's because you need the ROMs in the no-intro naming format
Push X!
Lol. Great video as always ETAPrime.
Please bring this to retroarch!
If anyone can help us make that happen please join our facebook group and introduce yourself. we'd love to have it in more places!
Update it's coming soon

Any news on this project for RetroArch?
The installer for RetroArch on Windows was released yesterday, it's on the Bezel Project GitHub page.
Amazing work!!
omg that is awesome! great job everyone! (Y)
3 Ninjas Kick Back is one of the best games ever made? JESUS
GENERIC BEZEL FIX: If you only see the generic bezel for your system, copy the gamelist.xml from your roms folder over to \\RETROPIE\configs\all\emulationstation\gamelists\whateveryoursystemis . when installing the bezels the script looks there for the games. ALSO the names of the roms have to match the .cfg files within the aforementioned directory. I had to rename all my SNES games. Not sure if there's an automated way to do it but I just copied and pasted back and forth on PC.
That has nothing to do with bezels though....a gamelist.xml is only for ES to show game info and media within the ES GUI.
The bezel configuration files are for Retroarch.
You can use either ES or Attract Mode...all that matters is your rom filenames must match the Hyperspin / No Intro naming.
The name is passed to Retroarch and it looks for a same-named config file to display a bezel for a game.
Hope that helps.
You're right. Thanks!
did not work for me. I installed nes and some games have bezels and some have generic. I.E. R.C. Pro Am has a generic bezel while R.C. Pro Am II has an actual themed bezel. Thoughts?
Did you check the rom names against the .cfg files in the folder like i referenced? Make sure they match exactly so Retroarch knows which one to use for that game.
My only guess is that it's going to be a naming difference.
Compare your rom file to the Retroarch config file.
/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch/config/FCEUmm
/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch/config/Nestopia
you'll see two folders (depends on which emulator you are using - check the one you use)
Then the second config/png here
/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch/overlay/GameBezels/NES
Thank you for nice informatie sir!!!
You are awesone! :)
This is amazing!
only thing i don't like here is that TV looking "bezzel" between the "borders", i want to see all the pixels of the game without that bezel interrupting.
(and i hate that GEOM shader required to make it fit)
still, damn cool project, i just started fiddling with shaders and borders in Retro Arch and this just shows how far this all can go.
another thing that annoys me is all these different naming schemes, Hyperspin, Good, No-Intro even Launchbox DB has kinda its own thing going on...
can we please just decide on one and all use that? (personally i like the Good naming scheme because it tells a bit more about what type of rom you got there, perfect dump, bad dump, overdump and that sort of thing).
Agreed, I really wish there wasn't that TV looking internal bezel for the same reason. Oh well. :/
Hats off to this project definitely!! But I kinda agree, I get that they are replicating the CRT look, but honestly, I'd prefer the square corners of the 4:3 display & bezels with the 'roundedness' removed so the game display isn't cut off. But again, great work from everyone on this project!
Great work!
I'm liking this but is there a possibility they can make a version of these bezels without the TV-like border where the game screen would be?
not without editing all of them, but possibly we'll ditch it moving forward, we'll talk about it. Thanks for your input :)
Coin Junkie I like the tv border, just my 2 cents. Feeds more like a retro tv
Likewise... I love this pack, but a bezel pack without the tv-border (no obstructions to the game screen) would be a great option and my first choice.
I like the tv border but why not (too please everyone) have an option to disable it. Or could we edit the png file to delete it?
I'm also for removing the round corner TV border, but let me reiterate, great job to everyone involved in this project!
Hi ETA
All has installed great but only get a generic bezel on all my roms . Looking at the pdf I notice a note there about the No-Intro naming convention used by EmuMovies/HyperSpin what is it Anyway you can give an example of the this Would greatly appreciate any help
Thanks
Gary
After you install it, the last option in the menu is to see which emulator you have to use. Just change it to the correct emulator and you are good to go
@ETA PRIME can you make a guide on how to properly setup wiimote and sensor bar for arcade shooters on retropie 4.4?
thank you from France
The issue with most bezels is they're trying to be the foreground, bezels should not be the center of attention
Do you have to fix the size ratio of the screen so that some games don't get chopped off from the bezels?
Im noticing that on many NES titles. Is there a certain aspect ratio / dimension you have to manually set?
Do you know if there is some kind of bug for which we have the roms stored in an external usb?
I always see the same type of bezel in any game...
You might have auto save state and auto load state enabled within save config. iv seen this happen with that on.
That means your toms aren't the no-intro names like Mario (USA).NES for example. That's always the reason
Thanks dude! Video helped guide through setup
Works beautifully. Thanks for all the detailed videos you post on your channel. Too bad the Atari 7800 doesn't have bezels even though I installed. I'm just getting "The Bezel Project" on the shaders for the emulator.
We'll get to it 🙂
Hopefully this comes too windows and retroarch and Rocketlauncher.
U could dual boot batocera Linux 9n ur computer if u wanted the setup without totally committing
Actually u could use virtualbox and install batocera to it, hope that helps
i see this when i finished No such file or directory?
Completely awesome.
Anyway to get these without the borders? Never was too much of a fan of the curvature look, just want to see the full 4;3 image with pictures to fill in the black spaces on the sides
Just when you think they did everything they possibly could on retropie
Had a go at this but just returns the message 'no such file or directory' when typing in the first command
Is there any vertical games bezels pack I can use for Mr Smithers 800 in 1 vertical games? I tried to put some I found online for Mame but they don’t work at all. Tried several different ways including using your path, but it’s missing the first OPT path folder. So I put it directly to the overlays directly
Thanks for creating this and for doing the video. I love the simulated screen with the bezel. Many work good, but some of them (like Frogger) take up too much of the screen. It seems to squish the play area , so I can’t see all of the playing area. Am I doing something wrong?
I was wondering, how do you remove the crt bezel, as I find the crt frame to be distracting and it covers many of the screen's info.
I so wish I can figure out how to add background music "tab" to the retropie menu. ETA Prime, do us a video on that please.
\
etropie
oms\music throw some mp3 in there. I got a ton of 'intro' songs for my favourite games from TH-cam and they play random on loop with the built in script there :) Not sure if that is close to what you are looking for?
I can't remove bezels, I go to onscreen overlay, turn display overlay off, configuration override and save core overrides but when I go out and back in the bezels are back, anyone know how to fix this?
Ugh, so close. The NES installed perfectly. SNES and MegaDrive say they installed (hung for a while) then said it installed, but they don't show.
ROMs need to be in the no-intro naming format
those are the only ones I deal with.
Sounds like using the wrong emulator then. On the main screen in the bezel project below the consoles it tells you which emulators to use for each one.
how can you make the mame screens the correct size for some games? games like 1943 for me the screen is too big and the bezel covers the screen
Great video. Thanks! It all worked fine but after using Steven Selph's Scraper, my mame bezels started showing the generic Arcade bezel. The fix was to rename the /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch/config/MAME 2003 to mame2003 . I hope that helps. I also have the Generic bezel for mastersystem but I have not been able to fix it. Any ideas?
Great vid man! Super clean! Was wondering if you could cover overscan for retropie
How much space on the sd card do these images take up?
Thanks Jacob!
We recently shrunk them even more, so they are an average of about 120kb per bezel
Hi, I have followed the install guide and everything is working fine, when I go to the option to download system files for MAME however, it gets 35% through the download and then starts going really really slowly, like to the point where it eventually stops. If I retry, it will quickly go back to 35% and then just stop again... anyone else having this issue? Thanks!
Wow that is amazing
Wow. That's awesome.
Prime.. I think it’s worth doing a quick vid on how to set up your roms so the bezels work automatically. (Hyperspin/.cfg setup)
There seems to be a whole bunch of people having difficulty with the bezels.
That’s why I haven’t redownloaded the bezel project. Only got the generic bezels.
This is amazing
Everything works great...except for some reason it doesn't work on any of my mame games. The on screen menu doesn't have the enable overlay option either.
The whole project is ruined due to 1 single flaw: there's a "retro TV" outline all around the edges of the actual 4:3 game area! If some scores or text (or even gameplay visuals) are too close to the sides or any corners, they're hidden by that TV screen contour graphic and it's so annoying. Is there any way to just keep the left and right graphic bezels but get rid of that retro TV rounded that hides areas of the game?
I ended up uninstalling the bezel project because it looks ugly. Arcade games have the "1P Insert Coin" text on the left covered up. Some games have text at the very bottom of the screen and they're cut in half.
You can go into MAME UI and make the screen smaller to fit the bezel.
I’ve already shrunk all of my play areas for the generic system bezels I have in place
Where is the option in the latest retropie? It's not in settings
My pi says it no such file or directory when i put in commands is there another way
Hi everyone, I know I'm a bit late but question: anyone knows why the bezels show fine when playing roms on "MAME Libretro " but do not show at all when playing roms on MAME4all? I followed instructions perfectly and everything is fine when using MAME Libretro, but I can't get it to work on MAME4all, any info will be greatly appreciated.
Need help...i want to remove bezel, so I change "Display Overlay" to off and i save "Core Overrides".... when I restart the game the bezels are still there!?
Hi there, did you ever find out how to do it? I have the exact same issue
@@CodenameAlejo did you find the answer? Did you delete the files from the RaPi or is there a setting>?
well, I tried this. It downloaded all the bezels, I guess, for all of the games. It took several hours due to the amount that I had. However when I open the BezelProject menu, nothing happens except a blink to black and back to the normal menu. Like if you tried opening a rom that didn't work. So I guess i have several gig of things I can't access. I really wanted this to work.
Bezels don't seam to be installing. The script installed ok. I can access the bezel project menu. After I install the console still shows not installed and the bezels are not showing up. Any suggestions. I have not previously setup bezels on this device.
I have the same problem
Make sure your roms are named correctly. They have to match the hyperspin/no-intro naming convention.
It is working on my other retropie setup. Both are using the same roms. It starts the install process then jumps right to processing. It seams like it isn't downloading or extracting the files. This unit is not running the newest version of RetroPie. It is the pre 3 b+ support version.
You need to use the no-intro naming system for ROMs. If they are named something else it won't work
Thanks for the reply. I have this installed on two different Retropies. Both use the same ROMS. One works, the other doesn't. I've given up on it. The one that isn't working isn't mine, it's one I built for work, and don't really want to put the time into making it work.
I know this is an old post, but I just recently got my setup and for some reason anything in my MAME folder just gets an ARCADE bezel, but anything out of that folder even if it's the same game gets a custom bezel. I have to figure out why it's doing that. An example is I have the Simpsons 2 player and 4 player versions. the 2 player one using finalburn emulator and it has a custom bezel, but the 4 player one only works in MAME and that one get an ARCADE bezel which I don't like. Any ideas? Thanks!
I'm having a bit of trouble with certain systems... For example in Super Nintendo I get generic bezels with every game I try... The same happens with Nintendo 64...
I also tried with the recommended emulators (Ir-snes9x2010 for SNES for example) but still nothing, I don't know what to do.
Any help please?
Can I use this for my vertical 4:3 setup? (So 3:4) I just need marquees and controls when I play non vertical games. Just the top and bottom basically.
Hello eta prime I know that this is an older video but how do I set this up for gb, gbc and gba as the video is to big to fit in the box also how die I set the right bezel for the correct system as it show the same bezel for all 3 systems thanks and advice would be appricated
Followed all the steps exactly but it gives me a generic bezel for every game , how do I fix this ? Something about the way my roms are named ??
Mike M ....your rom filenames must be named correctly to match the Hyperspin/ No Intro naming convention for the bezels to work correctly.
Compare your rom filenames to that ... and see if that is your issue.
David Marti Thank you for the suggestion , I'm gonna try that tomo and get back to you
David Marti I went to do that and by changing the name it corrupted my rom :/ any other suggestions/tips/help ? All is appreciated
now all you need are quality crt shaders and your good to go.
Thanks ETA....i have a ras pi 4 running retro pi how do you manually install bezels for games that bezel project doesnt download due to naming errors
THX
what do you use to record the out put of the RASPBERRY PI
Are there any bezel packs for Capcom games. I can't get Capcom games to load bezels properly the image is over the top
Press "x" for random ;)
lol
hehe, I was thinking that the whole time!
Announcement: PlayStation bezels have been added! Just update the script from the main menu in the bezel project. Woohoo!
@Reece Larkin we took them down to fix something but it's back up so try again to download them
For some reason my "bezelproject" icon just goes to a black screen for a sec then goes back to retropie menu
Getting a connection refused error on the wget command...any idea what the issue is?
Is there a version for hyperspin yet, or a quick way to put them in the files the way hyperspin reads them
🚨Help🚨 My bezels are overlapping the games. Does anyone have a potential fix? Settings somewhere?
I've put the script in a million different ways and it just wont work.. please please do a quick video of you doing it so the first starters can learn.. thank you
