Despite all its flaws, all the ways its dated, and how Joss Whedon is, lets' be honest, a horrible person, it still gets people talking and thinking about these really serious real things like sexual assault, harassment, etc. in a way that very few other shows do.

Been drugged twice. Both times living in Nashville. Once was by the bartender himself who was good friends with a lot of the guys who would come in. Learned later he’d done that to several other women. I was found passed out on a bench outside by kind strangers after I stumbled out of there. Richard Anderson was played by Greg Vaughan.
Greg also appeared as Dan Gordon, Piper's boyfriend in "Charmed".
He also was in 612 episodes of "General Hospital" as Lucky Spencer and 589 episodes of "Days of Our Lives" as Eric Brady.
Speaking of "Charmed", since you are all loving Buffy so much I suggest you all should react to another 1999 supernatural series, "Charmed", about three sister witches.
Also, you can begin reacting to the BtVS spin-off in 39 episodes ( April 20, 2023 ) time in 9 months, come the SE4 premiere.

Fraternity experiences definitely vary from person to person. I was in a chapter of the largest fraternity in the country, yet we never did any hazing, the parties I personally hosted always had a couple sober women present who could walk the drunk ones home, etc. We got in trouble for hazing one time because pledges were asked to memorize the Greek alphabet (go figure), and the school used that excuse to write us up for breaking guidelines, which led to national HQ putting us on social probation for it.
Yet, the smaller fraternity of influence on campus did all sorts of sketchy stuff. Routinely and openly hazed their pledges, women would often talk about uncomfortable experiences, etc but they would never get in trouble due to accusing the school of discrimination (it's a small Catholic private college, and around 1/4 of the actives in that fraternity were openly gay. An admittedly creative spin of the "do you know who my father is?" type of deflection from their wrongdoings, but I digress).
Anyone who knows anything about the American collegiate Greek system can probably guess which fraternity this is, since all of my friends who went to colleges across the country with a chapter present of this particular fraternity told me that those chapters had similar dynamics and ways to weasel out of trouble regardless of what all they were doing literally out in the open. Two women I was friends with would still go to their parties, but would ask me to keep an eye on their locations and told me that if they were pinging at the house after 3am, assume something is wrong and come get them. To this day, they still keep their locations permanently shared with me for when they go on dates and tell me where they'll be and how long they should be there, but that whole routine originally stemmed from that one specific fraternity on campus and the sketchy things they would get up to without fear of reprimand...

I know Buffy fans like to malign Monster of the Week episodes, but rewatching this with the Normies mad me realize that, starting with Season 2, there is always something FORWARD MOTION with the main characters or bigger arcs in the show:
When She Was Bad - centered on Buffy's PTSD
Some Assembly Required - Giles and Jenny have a date, first hints of Xander/Cordelia
School Bad - introducing Spike + Drusilla, Joyce siding with her daughter against Snyder, Angel was Spike's sire, the government is covering up vampires
Inca Mummy Girl - Willow accepting she won't have Xander, introducing Oz and teasing Oz/Willow, tender friend(?) moment between Zander + Buffy at the end
Reptile Boy - Willow finds the courage to speak her mind when it comes to Buffy, Giles realizes he shouldn't push Buffy too hard, Angel decides he'll date Buffy, Bangel "official"
People always feel like they need to "apologize" for Season 1 which usually includes telling new viewers "Don't worry, it gets better in the second half of Season 2." But from the beginning of Season 2 it's clear that Buffy has "already started." If a new viewer has gotten to this point, they're in it for the long haul. So I'm for telling people to get to the last episode of Season 1 - it's a less onerous number of episodes to ask someone to endure a show "before it gets good." Plus, when they get to Season 2 and already are super fans from the clear jump in quality that's apparent from the beginning, they can get properly FLOORED when they realize that the show is phenomenal in ways they never expected.

When I was 18, I was at a Halloween house party and got wasted for the first time. (From the UK, so drinking age is 18) I was put in a bed and woke up to my friend pulling my ex off of me. I was still drunk, so I didn't know what was happening and didn't realise what had happened till I was shown the used condom the next day. My friend was furious and wanted to press charges, but I didn't do anything because I remember coming on to them while I was getting wasted. Also, I felt that I would have consented, so what most likely happened is I consented, passed out halfway through and forgot everything leading up to it. I also have been spiked, but I could feel the pill in the drink and spat it out straight away. It was a very thin, round pill, so you could tell it was homemade. It wasn't disoving quickly, so I figured it wasn't designed for spiking and was probably just the usual essay.

Mark 15:57. "Jerkwater", is the source of the insult, "jerk". Why? Well, when Railroading was new, steam power followed horse power. Steam, required water. Water meant having water towers placed along the routes at various intervals. Such towers required people to operate and maintain them. So the railroads had their men set up tiny villages. The men, when required, would jerk water from the towers to put in the boilers of the steam locomotives, that boil the water to make steam that would make the locomotive function.
The men weren't meant to have families there, but they did anyway, despite the lack of public schools. Back then, public schools were also responsible for teaching manners and ettiquette, instead of only churches. Children that grew up in these jerkwater towns, lacked a proper education and didn't know how to properly behave in public, including when riding aboard trains.
Educated passengers, could easily identify people from the jerkwater places, because of the bad behavior and general ignorance of anything not railroad related. They went from being called, "jerkwater people", et cetera, et al, to just being called, "jerks". (Like in, Steve Martin's movie, "The Jerk". He was the ignorant kind though, not the rude kind. Or both.)
The college student, probably knew what I just explained to you, hence his usage of, "jerkwater". 🧐😎🤓🤨

Geez, I had a super senior roomate( white boy got kicked out of school and his parents spent thousands to get him back) and his first move back was to hit up parties and he just ran through the freshman(17-19) class at 25 years old. And my partner at the time had dated my former roommate who was a senior while she was a freshman and two years after he graduated she described "having sex when I didn't want to" several times. Obvious assault but she was in complete denial and obviously traumatized given her body language and behavior..not to mention they only got together because first week of school he got her drunk and brought her to his room and she was too timid to say no until he physically left after his graduation. Then there was a similar situation with a friend who said she's going to be a "srat ho" and sleep with as many guys as possible. She was sought after by all types of guys but since we were the group who met twice a week to play board games she found it easy to prey on a bunch of insecure guys and brand new freshmen who were convinced they would never get a chance to be with a woman. People are awful. College is a danger zone

I can't believe I'm coming back to watch this episode reaction. This used to be a pass over for me. I love that you guys are enjoying the rubber suit episodes. Buffy flip flops from RL Stine to George RR Martin in terms of story telling. This reaction confirms you are going to have a good time pretty much all the time. Also, its great watching characters grow on you. Cordy and Xander take a while to get. They have a lot of layers.

Mark 11:34. Howdy! 🤠. Wow! You were just interupted by an advertisement for the movie, "Prey"! I didn't know that was a thing! But hey, with a title like, "Predator", in the franchise, you need to have, "Prey", to cover the title options!
But anyway, Josh Whedon, must've been paying attention to that other, "20th Century Fox", property. Because, wait until you see how, Buffy & Friends, cope with an alien threat for a change of pace! (No, not the trademarked ones!) 😎🤓

The girl saying "There's one who is nicer than the others. He's the one to watch out for" it hits something that I think underlines a lot of where we are as a society at this time on subjects like sexual violence.
When the "Bear vs man" question started making it's rounds, the question itself wasn't that interesting. But men reacting to how many women were choosing Bear was. So many guys reacted to it like it was an afront to them. "NOT ALL GUYS ARE LIKE THAT LADIES!!!!" instead of asking why women are reacting that way. Most women know that not all guys are like this and the ones that are awful are fortunately not the majority. But we do feel that on the off chance that we come across the few that are, it's going to end horribly. So many "nice" guys, it's just a front and unfortunately its a very convincing front.
To give an example, I was fortunately never roofied. But I did work in retail where I experienced a lot of unwelcome comments by much older men. The one that I always remember was an elderly gentleman who I was helping to find something. We'd been having an extremely friendly conversation for a long time while I assisted him, like I was talking to a grandparent. I'd actually hoped that he was a store regular because it was so nice to talk to him.
A male coworker of mine (same age as me) came over and joined the conversation. He noticed I was trying to order guitar sheet music for the customer. He asked the man "So, you're a player?". The elderly gentleman responded "Yeah, but not guitars. I come to these places to hit up really pretty college students. You think this one would come home with me?" He proceeded to talk that way about me for a few minutes, in a specifically sexual manner, as though I was suddenly an object and he made fun of me for getting red in the face as I was getting furious and embarrassed (I didn't have the confidence at the time to just walk away or speak up; nowadays I would have said something); he didn't even have the dignity to say it to my face. He laughed, pointed at me and said "Look how red she's getting!". My coworker apologized to me after the fact for triggering that, showing he was a much better man than this guy.
Again, there was no indication prior to that that this man would be like that. He'd been acting like a perfect gentleman. But as soon as the opportunity presented itself for him to show off to another male, he didn't hesitate to suddenly start demeaning me to my face. It's an experience that makes me distrust when a man is being overtly nice to me, because I always have the fear that they'll turn like that.
My point of this is, while we know that most men aren't going to treat us this way, there is that lingering fear that we are misjudging the person or situation so that we are in a situation with the few who will.

Hey guys and gals will there be a full season 2 & full season 3 reations of Buffy series?

  • @miriam8376

Tom is creepier than Angel because Tom is manipulative. Angel respects Buffy’s agency and virtually always lets her lead and set the boundaries. The one regular exception is when it comes to their age difference, as in the scene in the graveyard, when he pushes back and tries to make their not-dating decision for her. The problem is that most men who end up with much younger women aren’t willing to follow Angel’s lead because it means giving up control over a partner, so it’s a big risk to trust motives.

In my high school, the junior and senior girls were the ones trying to prey on the young pilots right out of college and enlisted men at the AF base. Being in a small border town 3 miles from Mexico, that was their surest way of escaping the town and getting a spouse with good money and benefits.
