    Diggin’ the exhaust! I’ve done 3 custom exhaust on old trucks (a new video posting this week in fact), but mine are very conservative dual exhaust dump in front of the wheels style. I want to build a rat rod one day and take more creative liberties. I’m watching, learning and being entertained. Keep up the amazing work! 🙌🏼

    Ever think about doing a patina paint job on your bumpers? I'm in the middle of a build, I'm putting 62 Chevy truck cab and step-side bed on a 81 Olds Delta 88 Frame with the original old's 307 and 4 speed automatic trans. I'm using the front bumper of a 75 Malibu as the back bumper so I can put the tail lights, turn signals and brake lights in the slot where the original front turn signals went for clean look in the back and the front bumper is the front bumper of a 74 Camaro because the curve is an almost exact fit of the tractor grill I'm using as the grill of the truck. I also chopped the A pillar a half inch to rake the front of the cab. those "Task Force" Chevy's looked raked in the front from the factory and that 1/2 makes it look completely custom and wild, like something Winfield, Barris or Big Daddy Ed Roth would have done. On an Unrelated note..... anyone ever tell you that you , look alot like Cash Wheeler? If you trimed up your beard you could be his Doppleganger.

    • @BestDamnShopAround
      @BestDamnShopAround  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like a pretty cool build you've got going! Never tried to patina bumpers but I imagine it would be similar to everything else!

      @@BestDamnShopAround yeah pretty much, I think I'm going to try it on this build, I'm not a "chrome" guy so I usually paint my bumpers anyway.

  • @nobiden3134
    @nobiden3134 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You can use the front edge of a file (1" wide) to scrape down the pitts on that chrome bumper that destroys the steel wool.

  • @Thingswithwheels1

    I really dig both the exhaust and the rear bumperettes! Not to be a Karen here, but PLEASE start using eye protection! Any time you cut or sand anything beyond paper, eye protection is such a good idea. It only takes one flying piece of hot metal or aluminum in your eyes to learn the lesson. No doubt young guys will watch these (excellent) videos and setting the right example is always the right thing to do. Back to the compliments: the truck sits PERFECTLY and the sound is fantastic. Im learning some things to apply to my 66!

    @rudyhollis6540 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    First off, love what you've done!!!!
    Second, there's two things I'd add to it, about a 6-7" aluminum spoiler on the tailgate and bed, second, cut the front bumper below the body line and add a front spoiler and make it a tad bit lower than the bottom of the doors and bed. That would give an awesome side profile and lend the look to a racier look!!!

    • @BestDamnShopAround
      @BestDamnShopAround  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! You're right, I'm partial to Miller's but there are a lot of great machines out there. I always suggest buy more welder than you think you need. I'm not up on the current model numbers but the new version of My machine is great! Look for the one that does 110 and 220 power. That gives you the versatility to weld sheet metal all the way up to 3\8 plate and you could use it anywhere that has 110 or 220 service!
