I ve seen rough. I’ve seen American rough. But fuck me, I’ve never seen that kind of crafty panda welding rough as this vid. The methodology is right and kudos to old mate, but safe is safe. They are cold welds and unsafe on a critical component on the suspension of a truck.
Thank you for watching the video!. but I have had welding courses. My welds have been holding up just fine for years. I'm not sure of the issue. I've been hitting switches and driving on these chassis for years and never had a crack or broken weld.
@ any journeyman welder can look at the welds and pick out what is wrong with them.. for instance, cold tack, weld stacked on top of cold tack welds are in no way structural, for example the welds used to weld up the seams on the bends on the boxes . I’d be willing to bet the farm those would fail in a band test and are in no way structural. Like I said, lots of good information on the install and I’m glad you’ve been getting lucky putting out welds like that but it only takes once. especially when you’re putting out structural welds on a vehicle that’s on the highway. if you don’t have enough welding education to realize stacking cold tacks on top of cold tacks to weld up a groove weld on a structural box is not good practice, then I would recommend a Different Welding course. not trying to be an asshole, but your stuff is out there in the public to be critiqued.if you care about your trade like I do I’m constantly striving to do better.
I really do appreciate your comments and tips! My truck has held up with me giving it hell so far a couple years, so I've done something right lol. Check back with me next year and we'll see if she's still holding up 😆 I was just hoping to help a couple fellas that don't know how to do this job. Seriously tho thanks for watching the video and your tips
Love it. Thank you. I love the tip about using the bumper instead of welding something.

What did you do to weld the gap on the front of the boxes once they are in the frame? There is a huge gap there from the bump out on the frame.
Great explanations but man you got to take a welding course.

You make this stuff look so easy 😂
How often do you see a cracked frame in the area around the cross member?
I have seen it a few times. Most of the time the crack gets cut out tho
Hey,quick question why you choose the weld on kit and not the bolt on ?is it more reliable ?
Who makes a bolt on kit ?
