well, if you have been doing it for a while and you haven't been granted the title and the job grade (with the corresponding pay, perks, permissions) in some way - then you're just a fool they have been expoliting. More work, same pay. Collision course towards burnout.
We need more videos like this on TH-cam! The concepts in this video are underappreciated and not sufficiently encouraged. Most people I see in today's workforce expect to be promoted or to receive other benefits from a sense of entitlement. They are not willing to actually work for it. By doing the things described in this video you can really stand out, make an impact and fast track your path to career success. It won't happen overnight but it will inevitably happen with time! Napoleon Hill said that "The man who does more than he is paid for will soon be paid for more than he does." Being a leader is not about the title, it is about how passionate you are towards your company's success, the value of your contributions and your ability to empower your colleagues. Well done on a wonderful video Jennifer and keep it up!
yeah, I'd love a video about how to identify the members of the team that have the power to help me or stop me.from being promoted to a leading position. I'd also LOVE to know your thoughts about this usecase of mine: I'm a senior Software Engineer, and I'll start to work at a new job from January. I told them I'm interested to try management/to get a leadership position, they mentioned that it in space for this in the team I'm joining. What should I prioritize doing once I join the team? I'm thinking about a lot of code reviews to get to know the components and adjacent teams better, and to discuss a plan explicitly with my manager, besides doind my own onboarding and tasks. Do you have any advice here?
I am in a situation where everyone in the office was just hired (seasonal) and they all want to be leaders! It is a mess! not sure what to do. I have the most experience & have been in management but due to the fact that our supervisor is never there we are having major power conflicts. don't know WHAT to do?
How are you going to start leading today?
Yes
Yes girl! Leadership is not about titles. LOVE that you are using your platform to preach something so freaking important.
That is a serious compliment coming from you. Thank you Makeda 🥰
