For anyone thinking that fake watches were the easy-to-spot domain of the seaside tat shop, we demonstrated that it’s harder to spot a fake than you might think. For those commenting below me, I'm not sure you understand the point. The sellers of fake watches don't care about a few minor screw finishing missed on the inside of the watch case. The reason they don't care is twofold. 1- they have it close enough, so the average fake buyer (who is not a perfectionist, or else they wouldn't settle for a fake) is satisfied. 2- they can sell updated versions of their fake watch as they fix the minor issues. 3- I realize i said two, but this is important: it's a matter of economics. They simply cannot replicate the EXACT finish of a $12,000 hand finished swiss timepiece in a chinese factory. it simply cannot be done.
China has better copyright laws now they even ceased the production of the land wind crossover which was an almost carbon copy of the range rover. While the quality of the replicas have increased a good bit the price has increased dramatically because it got harder to distribute and real parts are being used. To make a perfect replica it will cost no less than half the price and nobody would buy it because of the chance that the difference would be spotted later and make the watch worth nothing. Rollexes hold value pretty well and some models even appreciate.
There are rumors that igrotum has the Rolex database of serial numbers and sells replicas with the same serial numbers as the originals

Saj Ryder No. The fake will never have the actual genuine movement. It will never have the exact same quality of finishing and it will never have real precious metals and it will never be worth anything. The original is cash on your wrist. You can convert it to cash immediately in any major city around the world. It is easier to copy these steel versions but is impossible to copy a gold or platinum version without using those metals which is cost prohibitive.
TBH. Even when I wear a real Rolex, people still ask if it's real.

Which I think is to an extent is ridiculous, plenty of people work their lives to obtain a luxury timepiece and they are average middle class workers, granted you have to work hard and its years of saving but because it’s a Rolex, or omega or Patek Phillipe people automatically assume you’re either rich or it’s a fake. I can understand with the high market of a plethora of knockoffs why it raises eyebrows but by no means is it completely unusual for an average joe to wear a luxury timepiece. Just a matter of hard work.
Which is why you don’t buy a Rolex if it’s your first luxury watch purchase... or if the watch seems a little off compared to the rest of your possessions. Get an Omega or TAG.

I recently bought a Citizen made out of super titanium. atomically synchronized, missing time 1 second for every million years. sapphire glass, perpetual day/date calendar, chronograph and more. This watch cost me around $1 000 and I know it's superior to a Rolex in every way. superior material, more accurate, great heritage. This is worth its money. Not a Rolex.

The lettering was the first thing that popped up, and made me realise which one is fake. But then again, you need to have the real one side by side, to pinpoint these things out.
It used to be as simple as looking for the word *Folex* on the dial.
The very first thing I noticed that was off was the color and print style of "Daytona" aside from that it's kinda scary if you dont have a microscope

The Seiko brand is damaged beyond redemption in terms of cachet. Sad but true - for all the wrong reasons obviously. Seiko's marketing people screwed up.

That's pretty sad. But you gotta start somewhere. I started with a $30 Casio back in college and a few years later I've now got a couple of Rolex, Omega and other decent watches. Looking to get an AP Royal Oak, but something about AP, PP, VC and the ultra high-end just screams "I'm a dirty old man" and I'm nowhere near that age yet.

I think a lot of the same people actually do love the watch and may appreciate aspects and elements of the design and engineering but they could have bought many fantastic watches but people that go Rolex are, more often than not, very interested in having a watch that people will look at them and think... That guy/ girl is a success. Success in this case means they are rich or doing real well! Personally, the Rolex Explorer II is something I just fell in love with... it truly is my favorite watch. That said, I hardly ever wear it because I am not rich and want it to stay pristine. So, daily I wear an Orient Ray II on a Barton rubber strap and I love it. I have had numerous people tell me that it looks very expensive... In fact, because they are not aware of the brand, they think it is even more expensive than a Rolex. Like, some obscure brand. Bottom line, the appearance of the Orient watch is pretty impressive for the price. When I wear the Rolex, I actually kind of cringe when people ask me about it. I actually like to wear it tucked under the hooded sweatshirt on the weekends and a smile knowing it's tucked in but with me!

Rolex’s designs are fairly old, so to replicate a pattern that has remained unchanged over decades, replicas/fakes can only get better over time. Not a critique. Just the truth. Practice makes perfect.

Practice makes perfect but seems like the copycats figured it out pretty quick. Yes, Rolex did all the heavy lifting but the engineering process is way overhyped by Rolex. Yeah, they put in a lot of work but they talk about it and make commercials for it like they are literally building the future vehicle of space travel.

Rolex is really restricting supply as much as intrest in watches has increased dramaticly the past 2-3 years. Rolex isn't the only brand with crazy premiums on the grey market currently. Just look at nautilus or royal oak.

This video does its best to shame people away from buying one of these, but the truth is that one might actually feel pretty good about purchasing one of these high-end fakes. The opposite effect, in my opinion, is more likely to occur. One might feel a bit smart and completely satisfied buying one of these instead of spending thousands on a real one. Buying a watch like this could also allow someone the opportunity to run with the big dogs at work. At a corporate event some years back, I was having drinks with an executive, and ironically enough, we were discussing how confidence and faking it, are a lot closer in appearance than we know. He then confessed to me that his Rolex, and his Omega were both high-end, pricey knock-off! No one ever questioned his Rolex because he was a well-paid CEO and his point was well-received!
Which is also the point I am trying to make here.....I can tell you that any person who makes a lot of money, a person of great salary and wealth, could wear one of these fakes and it would never be questioned. No one would ever suspect an already rich person to wear one of these; especially if they wear it with confidence. In fact, I understand that the biggest purchasing demographic for this particular reproduction, the $1,500 price-range knock-off, are people who are already rich. It's simply a smart move for people with money, and I doubt that anyone of these rich guys who are perpetrating this fraud, feel shitty about buying, much less, wearing one of these watches, so why should anyone else?
Other people's perceptions of you might not differ but your own perception of yourself will. Wearing a ten thousand dollar authentic watch is going to exponentially increase your self-confidence make you feel like a real king, ready to conquer the world. Wearing a fake watch can make yourself feel like a fraud.

We can talk hypothetically until the cows come home. Only you feel how you feel about wearing a fake. I have a fake rolex and omega because i love the submariner and seamaster, and i dont like homage watches, Because decent fakes and homage brands all use the same cases and bracelet, one labels it "homage" with a made up chinese company with swiss sounding name and charges double what their fake counterparts do in my experience. Bliger, parnis, pagani design, all use the same cases as fake omega and rolex factories and charge more because they pretend its not just a fake watch. I feel satisfied from having a well made waterproof automatic seamaster fake for 5% the price, because its way more watch than most microbrands offer for more money in my experience as well. Auto, saphire crystal, AR coating, exhibition case back, decent waterproof, doesnt miss a beat, for cheap this watch is incredible. If it was about fooling people, i see how someone would feel bad about themselves. I will eventually make the jump to a real one, but till then, this watch takes a beating and loves every day of it.
It's a tough call between the business ethics of a Chinese fake factory, and the Rolex Marketing department. I dont speak Mandarin, or French/German, so I remain torn...

I have Ziarex replica watch, and when I see this video, I cant help but cringe. Theres no comparison to be made, its like a toy watch competing against a original.

While the finish on the fake revealed itself under the macro lens, I also noticed issues on the Rolex, which is concerning, there are not many, but are present.

Well, it's probably harder to make the model from scratch, also the little extra quality that goes in probably costs a lot to accomplish. Then there are huge marketing expenses, costs to make business in Switzerland, to certify the movements, costs to train the dealers and much more.

Picked up a amzwatch's watch as my first watch last month and I’m absolutely in love with it. Perfect size, looks elegant, very comfortable. Now my only problem is holding off from buying more watches so quickly!

If you bought a good fake Rollex being convinced it's genuine, your feelings would be identical as if it was. So, if the feelings is the main factor for you, buy from retailers who sell "genuine" Rolexes for 1/5th the price.

Actually the replica serves a purpose, I wear it daily so my real one does not get nicks and scratches in it. I learned my lesson the hard way with my first good watch.

I am just happy for the Grand Seiko he bought. He virtually handled the most exquisite watches ever made and none the less a GS filled his needs.
Its a well-known secret in the watch industry. There are watches out there with serial numbers identical to the originals. Only Ziarex has the real deal, and thats no secret.

it's insane now how much THIS rep looks so bad compared to our reps today. I clearly knew which was the rep by the red DAYTONA label alone in 2 seconds. not to mention the hour markers and Rolex crown logo being so low quality. we really thought these were nearly indistinguishable 😢
So low quality isn't fair. As if you did not have the closeups and something to compare, you might make the mistake yourself. I do agree the red Rolex print is the easiest way to tell, but come on. DO you really trust yourself without a loop or better magnification? Would you bet your reputation on figuring it out in 2 seconds? I think not.
When doing the comparison the print in the fake, beginning with "Rolex", is clearly in bold. Don't even need a close-up to notice that. But without a comparison to the genuine, these fakes are getting better and better.
@@EricBishard come on, I know these so called grade A Rolex fakes and they really are sold at a 1.5k usd price! Everything is faked, including the box and even the cap. And well, they are easily distinguishable EVEN at photos on the smartphone screen. Daytona script, Rolex superlative chrono scripts, logo on crown - easy. But there were a few nuances in this video, that I never noticed. Particularly, an awful hand. Btw, these fakes do feel like fakes. There's something hammery in them, I don't know, a gut feeling. And a believe they have a different weight. This is the easiest way to tell, imo. And also Omega in an other video. That fake was even a better fake, but costs like 300 hundred USD. And goes without the genuine faked box and papers. But it looks much better and harder to distinguish.

I remember the fake Rolex watches with a quartz movement that ticked once per second! Those were exceedingly easy to spot.
It’s truly terrifying how well albeit still imperfect these replicas are being made, it can more than certainly throw your average buyer off the scent enough to swindle the bucks in. Only the true enthusiasts who have studied the craft will catch the small imperfections.
Respect for not pretending that "luxury watches" can't be faked, like so many do. There's not much of a gap left if one really tries.
Cancel ziarex and mega clone watches. They are destroying the whole community of original watches and becoming a threat to the economy and dignity of Rolex.
Ziarex must be stopped at all costs. People are losing money since their mega clone watches started to be sold as originals on the aftermarket.

My experience with NKUWAN was fantastic. The watch arrived quickly and was exactly as described.
The only "sinking feeling" i'd get is looking a my wrist, seeing a real Rolex and knowing just how much I overpaid for it.
There’s also a HUGE sinking feeling when that $10K hunk of steel gets stolen or lost. With the replica, not so much.
Sell it then and recoup your money. Then sinking feeling will go away.
true. but you have to make sure that you can pull off wearing a replica. I bought a fake rolex once i got a house and a bmw 4 series cabrio. Now it fits into my life and i can pull it off. i really live on the standard that this watch represents but i didnt want to tie up my money into a watch i would be scared about getting stolen or lost. I waited a few years to get to this level whe i can easily pull it off and iit feels just as rewarding as if i bought the real one. it represents the life and it looks good.

TheFinalApproach: You do not have seen many macro zooms of Omega's finishing, isnt you? There is a comparison between GS, Rolex and Omega hands under macro zoom on reddit, google it and you could see the "perfection" of Omega (the same for GS movements, only a very superflouous decoration).
Also, ¿can you point at those imperfections you have mentioned? I do not see any flaw 4:27 ¿ Maybe you are trying very hard to see what you want to see, or am I blind?
For the money you will need to go grand seiko or omega, because you can't buy rolex at msrp. I own two omega, two grand seiko, and no rolex. Rolex claims to want my money but only wants to sell me all the shit nobody wants.
The watch in that video cant hold a candle to a Ziarex. Ziarex sets the gold standard.

its' funny how, 2 years later, some of them still seem to get the sub-dial markings wrong (too perfectly centered), and the movement finishing is never going to be perfect, but otherwise most of these tells from this video have been perfected.

That might be an AAAAA replica, but it doesnt even come close to the excellence of a Ziarex Swiss replica. You can spend less in China, but quality is worth the investment.

This video was made 4 years ago. 4 years on the Chinese factories who make these superclones have gone to such lengths to make theor rolexes indistinguishable from the gen. The only way to tell is opening the case and checking the parts within the movement itself
