- Mercedes GL X164 model with the complain of malfunction in the air suspension aka AIRmatic . After quick scan we saw the fault codes are leading to the front shock solenoid valves 1 and 2 .
Fault codes readed by Star Diagnosis :
5230 Check component Y52Y2 ( Right front solenoid valve 2 ) in assembly Y52 (right front axle damping valve unit )
5220 Check component Y52Y1 ( Right front solenoid valve 1 ) in assembly Y52 (right front axle damping valve unit )
The same codes can come for the left side , where the components will be Y51Y1 and Y51Y2 in the assembly Y51

Great manual diagnostic and hopefully you saved someone having to replace the entire strut, which is what would have happened at the dealership. Good man!
YOU ARE SAINT, YOUR VIDEO SAVED ME HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS, I FIGURED OUT ON MY 2005 S350 THAT THE PINS OF THE HARNESS CONNECTOR ON TOP OF THE SOLENOID VALVE WERE BROKEN AND I MADE A JUMPER AND ERROR CODE ON THE DASHBOARD DISAPPEARED, THE RESISTANCE ON MY Y52 VALVES WERE 20 OHMS THOUGH.

90% of the airmatic errors with the errorcode 5230 is the cable set is destroyed. The service loves to change the whole airmatic because it results a high bill.
The cable is orderable by mercedes.

Wow, you know your stuff dude. I wish mechanics here in the states were as knowledgeable most of the time they only remove and replace when applicable and got stuck and can't really fix very complex issues that require out of the box thinking the dealer is even worse.
I'm sure there are a lot of bright mechanics there , but yes , some of them are getting lazy and don't want to spend a lot of time in some complex problem , because 3-4 cars are waiting with simpler problems
Good job! I’m having same codes but on left front wheel w220 and they came after changing bushings and arms so I suspect there’s some wire damage as well. Gonna look into it👍

Thanks for this very detailed information. I m having issues with my 2005 211, while changing the valve body all the air escaped, now the valves in the 4 struts would open for air to enter even when the compressor is working. Scanning says there is leak but HISTORIC. What can I do pls?

Great video!!! Question The wiring has dry rotted on my rear Airmatic valve and has disconnected. is there a kit to replace it, can I remove the top cover and solder the wires? I have a 2016 GLE 450 AMG (292) and don't want to buy a brand new strut. Thanks!

Hi, I don't have any faulty codes, however my car rides harsh ( stuck on sport mode / sport mode plus) , possible valve block ? as I see no changes on front right and rear left values of height when using the cycle of comfort/sport/ sport plus suspension modes. TIA

Im using Xentry Mercedes diagnosis. I said that the universal diagnosis Launch X431 is much more faster for connecting to the car and checking fault codes and live data.
Hi I have a 2007 CLS 550 and its throwing the airmatic code: "Power Supply Valves Short Circuit to Ground" I checked for continuity on each electrical plug going into the valve block and there wasn't any. The resistance was greater than 1.5 ohms. Is there supposed to be continuity or is there only when the relay activates? Do i likely have a break in the wire? Can you please help me im really stuck!!!!

I replaced the air dampers on a 2003 W211 and unfortunately I was left with the same error as the old ones.
Check component Y52y2 (Right front solenoid valve 2) in
assembly Y52 (right front axle damping valve unit)
I checked with a multimeter the three pins of the valve on the shock absorber and the values were 3 and 1 value 12:00, between 1 and 2 value 12:00, between 2 and 3 value 00.09, what happens please help.
So, my problem is I had a leak, changed air strut, raised the car up (button inside) and now it’s stuck in high position. Dash says “lowering” but it’s not lowering. After a while dash says “malfunction”. What exactly releases air when needed? The valve block or some kind of release valve on the compressor? Changed the relay today, didnt help.
I hear a clicking noise from the front like it’s trying to release the air but it won’t.

First... thank you for this video.. truly... I will say it out loud,... MERCEDES BENZ AIR SUSPENSIONS ARE COMPLETE DOGSHIT... TOTAL FUCKING FAILING USELESS GARBAGE.. ridiculously expensive to fix, piss poor idiotic design and they fail ALL THE TIME, even after being repaired. SHIT COMPRESSOR that fails, cheap all hoses and worthless airbag shocks... Dont make me tell you how I really feel...
I see you have bad experience with it , but actually if you know where to repair your air suspension parts , it is not so expensive . At least in my country :) Which doesn't mean they are reliable :D

Hey..do not complain about his level of english..I'm polish guy I learn Russian language at school long time ago I don't speak fluent russian but I can understood a lot and other factor I leave 20 years abroad 10 years in usa and now I'm almost 10 years in UK ...his english is very understandable, yes he speak with accent and had some lack of technical words but please do not blame him for this...most orgin english speaking people will understand him very well...And his video is very helpful..thank you..Reg Seb
