I am glad you are not listening to that guy I personally love the fact that you work on bikes as well as the various other things like electronics. Haters are always going to hate just keep doing your thing cuz your channel is flat out awesome.
Thank you. I just did this on my Yamaha V-Star 250. Easy to do and did not cost me a single penny. I used a brass stock from work. Easy drill and assembly was simple. Yes I ride a 250 to and from work. 20 miles a day at $5 a week in gas.
Just got this bike and this really helps with ideas on approaching saddlebags. Haven't bought any bags yet, but thinking I can probably jury rig something and use your approach for the mount. Thank you, sir.
Years ago those press studs had a longer stem for thick leather. As a car trimmer, I remember them well. They also went on MGB hoods. You could fit , something like a used cycle inner tube, doubled over at the bottom. Just needs thinking about!!!
I used some 3/8th aluminum round stock. heated it with a propane torch flattened the ends and drilled them for bolts, then bent it to shape so far it looks great and works great.
That's a very imaginative solution for a saddlebag bracket BUT you cannot just open the saddlebag because the turn signal is in the way. You have to unzip the whole bag and remove it to get anything out. I think I can use some of your methods to relocate the turn signals and make up some extension wires in order to mount the turn signals farther back on the fender. Then I can use your methods to make a bracket. Thanks for giving me the picture in my mind so I can get started. Oh, if you cannot find a piece of rubber to fit over your flat stock then how about wrapping some duct tape or electrical tape around the end to keep if from rubbing (metal to metal) the paint off the control arm.
Glue a bit of bicycle tyre inner tube to the bottom ( about a 5 inch piece) which will stop rubbing and stop rattling. Glue inside the rubber and it will hold well and last quite a while before needing a new piece. Stops the saddle bag rattling as well and wearing.
At the bottom put velcro instead, easier to attach and remove. With the top snap I would suggest a backing plate as well, that GRP tends to fracture with time.
I would use some super adhesive and put some felt or like material on the back of the brace to keep it from rubbing paint off. Unless you aren't all that worried about it.
I went the other way! I move the bags forward over the shocks. when riding the bag is half way under my thigh looks cool only hard core HD say it's wrong! I would sat there's no rule so try it! Sarah
If you find that's not stable enough perhaps you could mount another snap to the back of the saddle bag and secure it to the aluminum strap near the bottom as well.
Oh yeah. You might want to check back next week for the second in the robot series. I'll be working on it for the next few weeks for Maker Faire North Carolina. Unless robots bore you. :)
It's an imperial measurement, so does that mean the USA still feels it's part of the empire, when even the UK uses metric, mostly. Although we're still using miles of course, that's about the only official measure left maybe, except we still quote mileage as miles per gallon even though we have to buy the stuff by the litre. Oh and acres seems to be more often used for land still. I guess it'll all go eventually.
Robots are good. Been working a few simple ones, if I could just get some parts. Been trying to finish up a line following robot, converting a little toy that went forward so that it can go backwards and forward with Arduino and H bridge, and also convert and RC car to Arduino control. Unfortunately one I have is surface mount so I think I have to gut it and just with with Arduino and lose rc part :(
as much as i want to youtube won't let me watch this video (and this in particular). It stops every few seconds to buffer for minutes, no matter wich quality, and i have a 100.000kbit/s connection (just downloaded a steam game with 12.8 MB/s) i don't know what youtube is doing, but it SUCKS!

engineering at it's finest... great job!

Great video you're very innovative! Was wondering though what bags are those? And where did you find the crash bar?

I think an outtakes video from the videos you've already made would be an entertaining watch.

I just love your approach to things - wonderful - even I can understand it :) Many thanks !!
You keep going, if I had somewhere to do such things I'd be the same. Not even a shed now though,.
Could you please tell me the brand and model of the saddlebags used in this video please?
could you please tell me the brand and model bags used in yor video installed on the Virago. thanks for the video

If you get longer bolts for the seat, you can shim the seat bracket on the underside of the seat with washers to take the pressure off the seat. :)

Nice outdoors, wheres it at?
How's the paint after the test drive? Any signs of wear?

7:07- I love simple solutions
Or you could just remove the rear turn signals to the end of the rear fender. That way they are not in the way of the saddlebags.
Bored ... lol. I do all kinds of stuff, watch, don't watch... subscribe or not, it's up to you. I'll post videos regardless. Cheers!
Oh man I need to find zip off bags like that
I just bought that exact same bike same color and everything
So far so good. Need better quality snap fasteners.

there is storage under the seat... Pull the right hand side panel off :)
fun video mate!
Another awesome video, love it!
There is one! Search for Hack a week bloopers
dont you just love americas measure system, 9/64ths for a drill bit... yeah 3.6mm seems like a better measure to me :)
There is a bracket made for that bike!!!!
I had seen a guy do just that on TH-cam the other day.
I deny the stick the fender of my bike, repair this damage in the same as buying the conventional retractor! Without damaging the bike!
Yeah it's a bit ridiculous! I prefer to use metric when I can. :)
Please let us know what bags those are and where you got the crash bar from
You used nether a wooden nor a plastic mallet to install the snaps as per the instructions. LOL
Saddle bags AND crash bars? Oh well.

No way just make the right ones
chicken strip much
I watched because of your electronic stuff. Guess you got bored of that for now so will unsubscribe until you do something I like again. Good day.
