    I expect this mower will last several seasons with decent care. th-cam.com/users/postUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend Also, I ran across the problem with it not starting the 2nd time I used it. There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.

    Had mine for 4 years. 48 deck is a great choice- it has great torque and does a nice job. 54” works great for big flat yards. Leveling has always been a challenge. I also picked up a blower that works fantastic in the winter. Armrests are worth having. One insert pulled out of my seat when I leaned too much one way so be carefully. They replaced it under warranty. I added LED headlights and they are definitely brighter. Stick to the maintenance and it will last a long time.

    *My yard consists of roughly 3.5 acres of "mowable" area with several small hills **Bestfor.Garden** also recommend and valleys and tree-beds scattered throughout. Not only did the mower do a great job, but at the end of cutting the entire lawn, I STILL had 35% left on the battery.*

    Just picked up my 2021 X590 yesterday and used for 2.5 hrs...and OMG....LOVIN IT..! I owned my X500 for 12 years...never a single problem or trip back to dealer...did all the usual maintenance myself.Might of lasted me another 12 years,but figured life is to short so I decided to upgrade....YES....its expensive and not your box store mower,but you get what you pay for...
    When I decided to purchase this one,put the old X500 up for sale and it was gone in 1 day @$3850..(paid $6K in 2009)so have to add,these Green Machines really do hold their value...
    This X590 is worth every penny...just the power steering alone had me grinning from ear to ear....!
    I did opt for the brush guard,arm rests,48" deck,and HDAP tires,which did not add $,you can get either type of tire on the newer machines I was told by dealer...I also went for the MANUAL mulch control for $150 as opposed to $350 for electric....I figure its just something else that could go wrong...and unless you really need to switch back and forth a dozen times during mowing,its a waste....moving manual lever can actually be done with your foot if your not a size 14..LOL.... The power lift is nice...but for me,I only set lift 2 times when mowing,one for front yard and one for back field...so like the electric mulch,just something else that "could" go wrong....sometimes simple is better.
    Another great improvement besides Power Steering if now they finally figured out to make those pulley covers spring loaded for easy access...unbolting them on the X500 was a pain.....
    Just cant see any downside to this beast if you can afford it..!!

    • @MrRicoman1
      @MrRicoman1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Update....3 mows and 9 hrs..still grinning..this thing is a beast...have added the seat cover,worth every penny...even a little extra thin padding...if you got the x590 with 21" highback seat,you need the cover they sell for the 1025r series tractor...i guess some 590's came with medium seat,so was a pain to get right one.One warning...and my own fault...dont let the big tires and traction control fool you..will still get stuck on a steep hillside,especially if dirt is like powder...2 weeks of 90+ weather,what was i thinking...but made for a funny sight..a Ford Raptor pulling a JD out of a hole...got a few thumbs up from passerbys.I figured this x590 might have a little better traction than my 12 year old x500...live and learn...

      buy the X590,put ad in paper and sold it in 1 for $3850,making cost of new X590 a little easier.

    Just brought home a used 2019 X590 with 162 hours about two weeks ago. Loving it so far. I wanted to put a seat cover on that expensive high back JD seat and had to do some sleuthing to find. The dealer said ... couldn't find one in the JD catalog. The locking differential is terrific. I have a steep slope in the back with trees. The X590 had no problem getting up to the top, didn't even engage the locking diff.

    What a beauty! Wish mine had the hinged covers on the deck, its kind of a pain to unbolt mine to remove the covers for cleaning and lubrication. I did the exact same thing as you on the reverse switch right after I bought my second John Deere 5 years ago, I'm sure that's required by the govt, but its one of those well intentioned mandates that are a pain in the butt. I bought my first John Deere in 1996, sold it and bought my second one in 2015, really good mowers.

    First thing I wound up doing was replacing the headlights for LEDs - the bulbs were not sufficient for the early fall darkness and mulching leaves. Also wound up putting on a sleeve hitch tied to the hydraulic lift- great for a few odd tasks around the property.

      @@hibbasc1 On my 590 if I stop the blades and engage the parking brake the engine still runs when I get off the seat. As I often go in reverse while mowing I did bypass the other switch. I bought a new 590 this summer. I love the power steering. Growing up in the 1980's my dad had a 430 John Deere with power steering and I always wanted one. I agree about that safety switch. My only problem I've had with my 590 is the screen fogs up and from what I've read online there isn't a fix for it.

    I have the same JD x590. Bought in 10-2018 with 47" snow blower attached, have had trouble at almost end of 2021 snowblowing season. The "lift links" fell off and prevented me from lifting the blower and backing into my garage. Had to hook a chain from 1 side of black lift frame and thru the cab to the other side of same black lift frame in order to make it clear concrete footer. Needless to say this was the end of my snowblowing for the day. Son finally got new lift links and installed them after figuring out the problem and how to install links. Now in end of November and 1st time using machine and clearing my driveway, the same thing happened again. Links fell off, same problem. Anyway he said the hole 2here the link goes thru as well as the link bolt head were very worn (luckily I found the links and didn't have to buy new ones). He Jerry rigged the links hoping they'll last till end of season. I had a JD 335GX before this one and I'm so sorry I bought this new one. It does handle the heavy snow well as it's a 2 stage blower. I love the better features of my old JD much better than this new one.

    I got the exact same machine, 48 inch deck config, back in Spring of this year. Did yours ship to dealer with deck installed or did the dealer install when shipped to their store? My machine came without the deck and they ordered it separate and installed at the dealer. I have had uneven mowing issues that deck leveling did not solve. Two trips back to selling dealer with no relief. Took to another Deere dealer for second opinion to discover the bracket that mounts deck to mower was boogered up. They are replacing with a new one and I hope to get machine back this weekend. They tell me that the machine should have delivered with deck already installed so my issue was a setup snafu at selling dealer, it looks like. My level would be perfect when I started to mow, but off by 1/2 inch on one side shortly after starting, so I got stair steps in my yard. Needless to say I was not happy. Did your machine come from factory with deck already installed or did dealer install it when they received?

    I'm seeing mentions of concern with the striping brush so I'd like to add my experience. A number of years back when we got our first John Deere, the morning after the first cutting the day before that I had finished after dusk, we stood at the window looking out at how beautiful our lawn looked. It had never looked that good in the past. We were attributing this magnificent appearance to the 54" high lift deck. But after several minutes we realized it was because our new machine didn't have a striping brush. We found that our lawn was much more beautiful without the striping.

      Hey Ro Jo, I am still trying to figure out best combo of grass height and depth of the brushes on the striper kit. I still don't have it dialed in perfect but I assume part of that is due to me having Bermuda grass and not letting it get to long right now (mowing twice a week) also I cant stand not getting on the new machine!! I will mulch the rest of this season then maybe look at the power flow option. I have some thin sport that I believe cutting and putting back down in the soil is the more beneficial option overall right now.

    I have a 2018 x590, impressed with it so far, gripes I have regarding maintenance:
    1. the deck leveling wrench doesn't line up well with bolt, I can see that getting striped out if I have to adjust often
    2. installing the deck, while the hydraulic lift is nice it's a pain to have to start engine to raise and lower
    3. I was mowing this week and tractor just quit, fuse blew, 15 amp ignition fuse, replaced and all is good, have to wonder why it blew
    I have bypassed both the reverse safety and the seat safety, I have a slope that requires a little body english and first time I mowed that spot she quit, a little scary on that slope dead.
    Other than that I really like it

    I'm looking at a used one at my local dealer that has 500 hours on it. It looks and runs good and they're asking $3900. Do you think it's worth it with those hours on it? I'd imagine itd still be good for another 1000 hours. The engine and transmission would be anyways. I dont mind replacing small stuff like belts,pulleys,spindles. As long as the expensive stuff holds up,lol.

      3900.00 soybda like a good deal fir x590 mower wirh 500 hours on it. New one is a little over 10k.
      Back in 2014 I paid 7700.00 for a new x590 with 54" cutting deck. Lives tge tractor but got tired of having to pull uo on the blade engage knob to keep blades running while cutting in reverse. So I sold it.

      @@harolddenton6031 theres a little yellow button on the dash,just left of the steering wheel ya push to mow in reverse. It can be easily bypassed with a 3" jumper wire at the connector where the switch plugs up. That way you can mow forward or backward anytime with no fuss. I wasnt able to get the money together to buy this one at my dealer. I'm still getting by with a 10 year old cub cadet ltx1040 for now. It does an ok job,just constantly needs little things fixed. It'll nickel and dime me to death.

      @@mrbubetube so it's mostly a mower, but I do use the pull cart, dethatcher, and aerator with it a good bit. I use the diff lock almost every mow in a few small places that are really tricky to keep traction due to camber. Love it!

    I think if there was one function only for the rear lights I would rather have tail lights than brake lights. What would be the functional purpose of brake lights on a lawn tractor?

    • @jeronimo2152
      @jeronimo2152  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree for most homeowners having any lights back there would be better than reflectors. Brake lights would only be valuable if you had multiple machines running at the same time in more of a commercial setting.
