John Deere X590 Initial 1hr review

- Just picked up this X590 yesterday and put a little time in the seat. Thought I would do a short overview/review of the mower. Let me know your thoughts and don't forget to subscribe. Thanks.

Another feature I think you forgot to mention is the differential lock on the left hand side foot rest. Not a 4-wheel drive but most homeowners don't need that, esp with this machine having the differential lock that acts like a post-trak rear end to engage (lock) both rear wheels when needed for more traction.

nice machine - i have had about 6 deere tractor mowers back in the day- i made money with them for sure.
Once i got the toro time saver it was z turns all the way since i knew that all i will be doing is lawncare full time year around. I got eXmark machines now and i love them. I like to stay with same mowers now that im maintaining over 90 lawns. good video
I operate a Z920M Deere with 54in deck. Love that mower👍💪

I have the x580. Replaced x530 because…I wanted to not because I had to. Year around use. Mowing/yard maintenance including dragging downed trees in summer, snow blowing in winter.
I'm having a hard time deciding wether to buy the 590 or the 7 series. I have a 81 317 with a magnum 18 swap, plow, 50 inch deck and tiller. Its hard to find a machine that is capable of what I have without breaking the bank. I love the hydrostatic transmission and the wet line hook ups so I dont need to manually lift the plow. I mow 3 acres and its rough in some spots. I do like the 590 alot I guess I just need to go and look at them in person and decide that or the 7 series. I got spoiled with the 317 in the winter. Nice tractor though for sure thanks for taking the time to make the video
Its a nice machine...i would probably go with the 7 series if you are wanting to use a lot of implements. The 5 series has them but I have not used any. Have 68 hrs on mine now. Its def a comfortable machine. The x7 series starts about $4k more. Thanks for watching.
@@joshslawnlandscape9935 I too wanted a 700 series machine but the extra cost was just not justifiable. If I had opted for a 700 series I'd have wanted the Yanmar diesel and there we're talking about $6 grand more than the 590. Whew!
I operate a x590 mowing a 12v acre hillside golf course. Kawasaki fuel injected engine has clocked up 900 hours so far without problems, plenty of power and differential lock is a must with wet Irish weather. A 4x4 version of the 590 would be ideal. Quality machine overall.
It's a nice mower, no doubt. It's a emergency mower for me as I have a QuikTrak stander and a Z920M for my main mowers. I do like the power steering and how it handles as a non zero-turn.👊👍
I'm looking at an x580 with 500 hours on it. Its 6 years old,but the dealer said it's in great shape and they're firm at $3900. Yall think that's a good deal or should I pass? Anything on these I should check before saying yay or nay?
Can’t wait for mine to come in the spring! It seems to idle very quietly.

Thanks for your video. You stated that you have the z920m and was curious as the to the smoothness of the ride between z920m and this x590. I also have a z920m but considering trading it on a tractor type hoping for smoother ride. The z920m is very rough!
I wouldnt trade the Z. I put a suspension seat on mine and it has made a big difference. My seat was aftermarket(see videos). Thanks for watching!!
@@joshslawnlandscape9935 my z920m came with factory suspension seat and is a big improvement but still rides rough. Do you find the x590 or z920 smoother riding over the same ground?

I was looking at one these at the dealership today. Just curious do the front wheels have wheel bearings or bushings?
Pretty sure it has bearings

I still miss my GT 235 from the mid 90's. It lasted about 20 years.
My father in law still has his gt235 and it was a great mower. We have been working on it this year to get it back going 💯. Thanks for watching 👊

Great review. Do the HDAPs tear up your lawn at all and how’s the cut quality?
Thanks for watching...i am not getting comment notifications. The HDAPs are not bad on the turf. Great grip and the cut is nice but you do have to keep an eye on the PTO gauge (forgot to mention in the review). Located on left side of screen when engaged like an RPM gauge. Its a nice machine but I def like my ZTrak (except ride comfort) better.
Josh's Lawn & Landscape I just got my X590 delivered last weekend. I’ve only used it once so far but I really like it. Do you run the engine at the top bar when you’re cutting grass or lower? I noticed there are 3 bars in the PTO range, I just ran it at the highest engine speed.

Now that you've had it more than a year, how do you like the EFI engine? Better than a carburetor engine?
Far better starting up. Still up in the air on fuel consumption, but a few things play into that with my mowers. The 590 has a 25.5hp Kawi EFI..where my z920 has a 23.5hp carb Kawi. I think the go difference effects fuel use. Also even with no difference you figure mower weight difference is effecting fuel use also. Having said all that I do like the EFI as it starts much easier in any condition and seems run a little smoother. I would like to have 2 of the same mowers with these two setups and see how they perform. Those are my thoughts so far if they make any sense..lol🤣🤦
@@joshslawnlandscape9935 Which is heavier, the 590 or the 920? Fuel-wise, the 590 will mow my 2.5 acres in ~1.5 hours burning about 2 gallons of fuel. My 135 (22 hp Briggs) would take ~4 hours to mow the same field using about 4 gallons of fuel. So, the 590 burns more gas/hour but does more than twice the work. Much more comfortable too, due to increased weight, wheel size and that nice high-back seat.
@@mic982 the 920 weighs almost 1300lbs which is nearly twice what the x590 weighs (654lbs). Have to keep in mind the decks also...there is no comparison to me with the 7iron deck (920) and the Accel Deep deck (590). The 7 iron is head and shoulders above with cut and how it processes clippings. If you have the 920m without the suspension seat upgrade then the 590 is clearly more comfortable. I think my 920 uses about 1 gallon/hour maybe a little more.

Not near as much as i thought, but they are great for slopes when the grass is damp! I don't know what your plans maybe for the mower...personal or business.... but if you are going to do business i would probably spring for a Ztrak Z900 series, only around $1200 more and much more sturdy (be sure to get the suspension seat). If for home only, then this would be great for keeping up with an area up to 3 or so acres I think. Those are just my thoughts😁😜! Thanks for watching!
@@joshslawnlandscape9935 I really appreciate your reply. We are building a new house on 5 acres. Won't be finished until spring so I won't buy till then. Our land is mostly wooded so only about an acre to cut. We have some slight slopes and live on a hilltop so I wanted a heavy duty 500 series with a durable transmission for pulling an aerator, 25 gallon water tank/sprayer, cart etc. Not only that, but I wanted the locking differential just in case I get stuck. Glad to hear your opinion on the tires because that was really my only concern.
@@timmbos have an x580 (same as x590 except it’s carbureted). Had x530 before (just earlier version of x580]. No issues with turf damage!
Love the machine (and the review), not a fan of the way they engineered the MCS (it does work well though). Just be patient installing it - the directions are awful and you basically have to wing it. Also, make sure you lower the anti-scalp wheels one notch lower on the side that has the power flow or you are going to get a wildly uneven cut. Good luck!

Why didn’t you get a 4 wheel steer model?
Think you had to go to the x7 series for that and it was over cost. This was originally purchased as a replacement for my father-in-laws gt235 that died after 21yrs. It was a surprise for him since at the time he didnt drive a ZTR...hadnt learned yet.

@@joshslawnlandscape9935 I just read about your father in laws GT235 and that's what ive been mowing with since 2003 🚜🇺🇸 I would love to get an x590...shopping around. Heck I'd really love an x750 or x758 but there comes a point where you gotta stop spending money.
@@jacebigelow yea, i thought about the x7 series but the cost was just too much for what purpose i was making the purchase for. If I been specifically buying myself another mower, i would have gotten another ZTrak or possibly a QuikTrak. I could purchase another Z9 series for less than I have in the x590, but that's adding a bagger. The Z is probably about 1k more just machine cost. If you aren't planning to try a bunch of attachments, I would go with a Z9. You can still get a hitch for a spreader, aerator, sprayer, etc.
@@beartechdeck I almost bought the 584 for the 4-wheel steer - until I drove the 590. I was blown away by how well (and easy!) the 590 steers with the power steering. Unless you need to mow in 9" circles I'd opt for the 590 to get the EFI Kawi. Outstanding power and no choke to deal with. It will automatically maintain rpms when mowing thru tough grass spots or tall grass. Easier to make attachment with ground-engaging implements too as the 4-wheel steer clutters up the rear-end.
