I only have one true tactical folder. It's a Recon 1. Don't really feel the need for another one. It's that good. Mine is XHP with brown handles. Love it. Not really happy about the steel change, but it won't stop me from getting another one.
I have 2 recon 1, a clip point(XHP) and tanto(S35VN) and I absolutely love them both! Awesome knives!
Lots of well deserved Recon 1 love lately. It's such a good knife.

When I first got my Recon 1, I caught my finger in it myself. It's a mistake you only make once, lol. My nice brown handle now has a blood stain, but that's ok..gives it character.

The recon1 for me is one of the best cold steel, they are other great models too.
The SR1 can be the strongest knife from Cold steel. Well, i can not confirm that but... more than 600 pounds hanging from handle...
Not all triadlocks resist the same weight. Finn wolf only 150 pounds.

That is indeed, a great party of Recon 1's. I do like the idea of an uncoated blade and may have to jump on the Canadian exclusive offering. Jake at CCE did a video on that no too long ago. Keep up the good work LTK!😎
In my opinion, although CPM S35VN is relatively common in knives, it is still a PHENOMENAL steel.
Why is everyone acting like s35vn is not a good steel?

I love CS, there is a but. I like the Reckon 1 and Broken skull models but I absolutely hate the black coating. I wish they'd give the consumer a choice. I'd be all over the satin finished blades.

Love me some Recon 1's! I have to fight the urge (for now) to jump on those S35VN models. Currently, I'm Recon 1 rich with an XL clip point, regular size clip point, tanto, and, spear point. Also, have a pair of Talwars, which, to me, are easily as good as The Recon 1's! All of them are in XHP, and, I carry these knives too damn much! They trash my EDC rotation schedule something terrible. It's hard to NOT carry, and, use them.
I tell ya, I love all of my folding knives, but, the Recon 1 is the one I'd choose if I could only keep one folder. I'd have a hard time choosing between the clip point or the spear point. A delightful dilemma.
Finally ordered a recon 1 spear point. Saw that cold steel is doing a Magnacut version but are charging waaaaay too much so I’m good with S35VN for $80.

been watching for a while and seeing how you still don't know, that you can close Coldsteel knives easy by just holding all the way up and use the lock drop the blade and it will land on your index finger, pretty much you can do that one hand no problem.. but the 4max can nick you a little..because it slightly off
EpicWins The 4 Max got me good but I was doing it one handed while holding my camera. Not a great idea.

I have 3 recon 1 larges, and 4 recon 1 XL, 2 code-4s, a lawman, a talwar, a holdout 2 & 3, and a swift I, all in CTS XHP. Yeah I'm pretty much only collecting Cold Steels and Chinese knives now.

you like the big XL dont you ? so do i - i love the size and the way it feels in hand - i stripped the coating - the name remained and the stone wash is fine - i hate the black crap so its gone - i want another cold steel - large is next - which would you choose - clip point or spear point ?

Just picked up my Cold Steel Recon 1 in S35VN from Blade HQ in desert warrior. I love that color combo and blade steel.
The CS Voyager XL has almost the exact same blade as the Recon 1 XL , except its either cts-bd1 or aus10 steel , excellent slicers , and its only about $60.00 new .

MrGeerbear yeah, I found that too. Also the broken skull lock isn’t too bad. Lawman was stiff af. I had to mod the spring.
What did you do? Did you take some steel off the back lock. I saw Apostle P do that once. I wish Cold Steel would do that during production. It does nothing to the strength of the triad supposedly.
I have The Recon 1 XL Tanto in XHP steel, I love it! (to me it holds an edge slightly longer than CPM S35VN steel). I wish CS would smoothen their G10 on these models, especially under the pocket clips but apparently, The Baz on Blades channel has a video where he shows us how to loosen the pocket clips on The Recon models.
Take the knife apart and run them on 2000 grit =amazing

Cool party! I’m only a few days late. That black blade coating does show scratches but it holds up well. I have thrashed my Broken Skull and no Black has come off. I like the old green and black combo, I have that in the clip point. Great knives. I’m with Steve K, I can do all I need to with my Cold Steel knives.

7:37 if you know how you can one hand whatever size of recon 1 ! but my custom recon 1's are so easy and smooth they become fidget knives ! but still retain the blade well !

I'm not very happy either, with the seemingly needed move away from XHP. Like my friend Bryan. But only Carpenter can fix that.
LOVE my Lawman way more than i liked my recon
FlyingTex Can I ask why you like the Lawman more? I love the look of the Lawman more but most say the Recon 1 is more comfortable in hand. I also feel the Lawman is slightly smaller making it better for edc. Thanks

The Recon 1 in 4" has been my right front pocket carry since the CTS XHP came out. I also got one of the Blades Canada Recon 1 Limited Edition models in S35VN Satin-Clip Point. They got the sharpening choil issue resolved on the satin versions too. Sweet. I might have to have a black one in S35VN too, just because. Did your S35VN come sharpened to the choil or did you have the edge corrected?
Wade Page I think the newer ones are full flat grind (except the tanto) and have a sharpening choil. My spear point (S35vn) is ffg and has the choil and so does my clip point (CTS XHP).
But are they sharpened completely into the choil?
I already have a svord kiwi beater so I'm good already.
