Not every car allows the longer, smoother transition. Due to the lack of room. However as far as dyno test, there's no comparison. Bigger/ longer will give better breathing results.

What kinda head are you running 3” center bolt pattern headers on?

They are NKB heads. World/Dart header pattern.

Hello, is there an adapter plate that bolts up to the head to adapt the 3inch header?

If you are talking about standard 2" exhaust pattern to a 3" pattern. sorry, I am not aware of one . Someone must make one , other options are available. Sometimes you can have your heads drilled and tapped for it .

Thank you for responding to my question, and thank you for sharing your FORD expertise. I should have watched your videos before building my 351w.

they are for two different exhaust port heads! = that you are showing ! isn`t that right ? = what heads are they off = windsor and boss ! i mean = your not clear ! you can`t dump big extractors on stock head ! dyno proves that ! round exhaust to square port exhaust ! = they do not match up !

You need a 3" on center exhaust bolt pattern to use a header like these, stock is 2" on center. This is what they call a world/Dart exhaust pattern. There are a number of heads that use that 3" pattern . Some aftermarket heads have a 2 3/4" diagonal pattern. Headers can be had in rectangular flange or round flange depending on port style . I have round port heads like the headers . When you have stock heads , 1 5/8" tubes are about as large as you need for the horsepower you can make with them . You have a little more space to tighten the bolts with them also because of the small tube size . unlike 1 3/4" which has very tight bolts and are a real pain to install. And if you make enough horsepower 1 7/8" or even 2" tubes are available for inline windsor style heads . Which are too large to ever use a 2" on center exhaust bolt pattern, only available in 3" inline bolt pattern or 2 3/4" diagonal bolt pattern. I hope that answers your questions sir .

If you can get away with it space wise.

Yea! I got a 94 f150 flareside! Got plenty of room! No 1 3/4 headers available that I've found for it!

I LOVE the 3" bolt pattern. So much easier to install. FPA headers also fit like a dream in a 4sp car with borgeson box.
However... you MISSED the biggest performance benefit. A 2" bolt pattern on a 1 7/8 header tube results in a pinch down in the tube by the flange. Major pinch. Super hard to install the bolts and can't be good for flow.

You never know how tight those bolts are, because you cannot get the wrench on them properly either.

@@blueovaldude i think nearly all of us have used the reduced head bolts with a wrench either cut short. Flame bent at an odd angle, or both! And still never gotten them tight.
