Will these heads make over 400 hp with a Edelbrock top kit? (Cam and rpm air gap intake)
@docdixon194 If you use the hyd roller cam kit, they should make that out of the box on a 351 windsor. Probably closer to 450hp after all the porting is finished.
Thanks for your video I have a small restoration shop in N.Texas doing restoration of classic American muscle cars. Mostly Ford and Mopar.
I have an Offerhauser Tunnel Ram, 2 Holley 550cfm Tunnel Ram carburetors on my 68 302. .30 over, Comp cam ,lifters and valve springs, 351 aluminum heads ported, 12.5 CR. SCAT bottom end. In my 62 Falcon. I think the only OEM part is the block. 😅
What intakes match well with the port stuffers? Would a 2v port intake like a rpm air gap work well with them or do you have to modify a 4v intake to mathc the higher floor? Btw excellent video and good job porting those heads i am about to start porting some 351cj heads which from what ive gathered flow aroubd 300cfm stock.
Just about to cut up an old but working distributor. U tube to the rescue . Thank you sir worth a thumbs up and a follow.😅
Good information. I do hope that you 'dressed those gouges on the bottom plate before reassembling the pump. I had a significant oil pressure loss over a period of time when an oil pump kept digging deeper. It cost me a full engine rebuild to get to shrapnel out of any oil passages. That was a brand spanking new Ford oil pump on a crate motor where the driven rotor ate its way into that bottom plate
How you install the front bearing? Is it done in the same direction as the others or do you install "back to front"??
@DenisK-s7q The best way is to install it with the tool through the rear of the block. That way, the tool will be straight, and you will not install the bearing half cocked.
@@blueovaldude That's what I thought, just checking, thanks for the prompt reply.
One last question, is there a spec for the clearance of the front bearing to the block?
@@DenisK-s7q As long as your oil gally holes line up and it is slightly below the front cam tunnel ,around .005 to .010 is what I shoot for. It has to have a little space for the cam retainer plate to sit flush.
@@blueovaldude Thanks again!
I went high volume because I have a turbo and oil cooler and also went with 7qt pan instead of stock.
Why the hell did you not show the disassembly of the bypass ? that's what I came here for.....
@MrGsxr10001 Okay true. I did explain how I removed the softplug, and the proper order of the bypass. Bypass valve, pressure relief spring and then soft plug. Thank you sir.
Stock rods and crank?
@isaacpsi stock crank, scat 4340 I-beams, wiseco forged slugs. Stock rods are fine for this, for the price and more strength, it made sense for me.
My drill started smoking after just a few seconds. I can turn it by hand fairly easily. Any thoughts?
@neilm9032 That's why I use a large drill.you can turn it by hand with a speed wrench, but you have to turn it really fast and for a considerable amount of time to get full pressure. I have done it, but it is a workout. 😮💨Think of how fast the pump spins even at idle. I hope that helps.
What happened to Blue Oval Dude? I hope that he hasn't turned into LS SWAP DUDE 😂 😅 . You was doing so good with your TH-cam channel.. do u have any Cleveland heads, they don't have to be perfect, just wanting to build a clevor later this fall
@79beans347 Ooh no,never!! Lol . Blue oval dude is working hard to get more balance. No time to even work on my zephyr 😫 haha. I keep telling myself I'll have time soon. Anway I only have some 2v's and a pair of 302c heads
@@blueovaldude 😂🤣😂🤣😂 I figured that you were still on board with Ford. Yeah I can understand the being busy part of it for sure, I've been really busy myself. I wouldn't mind having those 302c heads if you're not too attached to them. Would you be interested in selling them?
@@79beans347 I am not sure if I would let them go yet. I would let a set of 2v's go.
All corredt info, but show it being done not tell it being done.
Lol 😂 🤡
Awesome!
great info Will give it a try God Bless
Amen
Dont know if you did it later or not but the area over the valves could use some room opened up, and angles down. Down need much. This helps with airflow to move out of the cylinder and towards the valves easier. What cc's you gain here, you can eliminate some when decking the head. These heads dont look like they need much as far as modifications (in the chanbers) though other than unshrouding the valves, and pilishing it all up like you did. Id follow it up with a little bit of air filter oil (very light type oil) and some polish buff balls (course style is fine to use. No need to make it like a mirror). Follow suit and do your bowls and runners too. Pay attention to the exhaust side more so. Leave the i take side with a rougher finish that the exhaust side.
Aware ?? that one can Clean Combustion chambers AND piston tops Easily?? Simply connect a 2 liter Bottle (Vac Hose) to a manifold Nipple then run the engine at ~3000rpms until the bottle is Empty (keep revs up to prevent ANY possibility of Hyd Locking.) NO need to Slavishly polish Comb chambers and Piston tops for a short lived 'Clean' condition.
If I wore gloves, I wouldn't feel any scratches either.
I'm going to try these mods on a 302 pump!
It would be interesting to see how much just port stuffing gave you.
Are you familiar with drag boss garage. If not you should check his channel out. Good luck to you.
Hell yeah
Igot the first two right....
351 Bxxs intake
Hey Dude! Realmente son necesarios estos restrictores? Su uso es para cual fin? Estoy apunto de comenzar mi construcción 351W
Spun a big end bearing, so looking at what others are doing RE their oiling. Pretty sure mine was a tuning issue (moving from hot humid Australian 98 pump gas to elevated dry US 93 pump gas, and to much low rpm load Anyways….. 🙄 I have exactly as you’ve done with the oiling so I think I’m good there I’ll check the lifter to bore clearance also Will start with 0.032” X 4 and see what the pushrod dribble is Goes hard 562hp and 495lbft at 6,500 N/A with 8:1 comp VE is 107% but BMEP is fuck all with the compression - not doing any work…….until I put the roots back on 😃😁🥳🥳 That is for the video 🎯👌
I wonder if that heavy duty cover (probably flexes less) and the guts can be retrofitted to the M84 series (351m/400). notice the windsor you have uses a pickup tube that uses a flange instead of pipe thread. as they dont have an offering for M84 performance version. was there any noticable different of parts construction internally?
On that pump,The main pump shaft goes through the base cover for extra support, whereas a standard pump has a flat baseplate and a shorter pumpshaft. I doubt that it would fit in a 335 series pump as they are a different design.
Nice mav bros👍🏻
Thank you sir. Christian enjoys the little rascal.
Better than throw away new cars!
No doubt about it!
Just add oil to differential to lubricate rear wheel bearings!
The 8" differential has a seal before the wheel bearing and is a sealed bearing. So it never rides in gear oil. Whatever grease is in the sealed bearing is all that it gets.
Once the bugs are worked out it will be time to stoke out the 302 and really have some fun with her with some ported heads and a big gnarly head 😅 its good seeing you make a video again, Im missing your content, really enjoyed your head porting video's
He is looking forward to some mods when he is able to. Thanks I appreciate it.
You've got to start somewhere! Lololol
He has been enjoying the maverick, he has other plans for it.
I have a 72 Maverick originally a 6 cyl car and I've acquired everything I need to put a 302 in it we're going to bracket race it locally. A couple of years ago I won a Harlin Sharp rocker T-shirt from your give away and I've worn it several times out at the races thanks so much for it!
@@davidcolegrove8818 That will be fun,I'm happy to hear you are still enjoying the shirt. 👍
You want rough edges on the inside cause while the air and gas is moving through it will mix better than without smooth edges
Thanks for the help with porting the 351c 4V. I have never ported heads before but I used your video to guide the home porting of my 1970 351c 4V heads. I did not go with the port stuffers but I was able to get 329 CFM on the flow bench at .600 which will be perfect for my new roller cam. Thanks again and have a blessed day.
Glad to have helped you out, and you had good results. 😀
Love the videos. Did you ever run these heads? I have the same ones and I was curious if you had run them.
хорошая работа . молодец🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
A great informative video, the clay can be cut with a plastic razor blade so the piston doesn't get marred.
When it goes into bypass it sends unfiltered oil to engine , it doesn't just go round and round in the pump like you described. Am i correct in my statement? Or am i confused?
When the oil filter bypass opens, it does as you described. When the oil pump bypass opens, it returns oil back to the inlet side of the pump. Reliving pressure and Recycling ♻️ the oil to use again. This all happens in the oil pump before it ever goes to the oil filter.
You won't necessary see high oil temp in sump but oil going thru engine
High pressure means oil heats up more also
Not necessarily, a high volume pump will have to bypass more oil and be running more oil through it. A standard volume pump will still be running the same volume of oil through as stock, more oil is just going where it is intended after mods. I Have not noticed a difference in oil temperature.
High pressure always causes more heat, basic phyics
Great video
One other thing i would do is take 1000 grit sand paper and clean up pressure relief valve so in slides freely, same as when cleaningg automatic valbve body
Back cutting an exhaust valve can hurt performance, intake is a benefit.
Pump looks great
