    In 2018 I decided I was getting too old for my GSX-R750 and a naked middleweight fitted the bill as a replacement, so over a 2 week period I tested the Triumph Street Triple R and RS, the Yamaha MT(FZ)09 and SP, the KTM 790 Duke and Ducati 821, surprisingly I liked every bike and loved 2 or 3 of them, each had a stand out feature of their own and looks ruled out 2 brilliant bikes (the MT-09s and KTM), I got it down to 3 bikes ,both Triumphs and the Ducati, I then decided the RS was too track focused so it was down to the 821 and Triple R, I loved the 821s looks but in the end found it too heavy in comparison to the R, it was also less agile but had lovely low down power, I'm really happy with the R but don't think I'd have been dissapointed had I chosen the 821.

    Sean, next time you're on one, try lowering the passenger peg and using it as a heel rest while the ball of your foot is on the peg. It's like having a floorboard on a sportbike. Actually, very comfy.

    Stock exhaust on this bike should be illegal. Termignoni all the way

    I have always liked the 821 Monster, I spent a week on one in the Italian Alps, (2015) an as typical with most Ducati's there are some ergonomic oddities, but this bike has soul.

    I love this bike. Even before i liked nakeds, when i was riding sport bikes, i wanted a monster. Now im really thinking about getting one as im getting tired of uncomfortable crotch rockets and this is one of the most beautiful and sporty nakeds there is.

    Love the Monster line. Great bike for every day usage and melts into the corners in the canyons. Speaking from experience! Major service intervals could be better compare to the competition.

    Has something changed at your company? There has been a quite noticeable decrease in the quality and professionalism in your recent videos. Production values, host ability, and writing have become amateur at best. I subscribe to the magazine and have always enjoyed the vids but the quality has really declined to the level of a mildly competent motovloger.

    • @mcdick
      @mcdick 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Magazine? I mean subscribing to channel is hardly a magazine subscription. And I'm not aware the motorcycle.com offers anything on hard copy.
      Anyho this seems to be launch event video. They are hardly ever very good, altough with recent changes in youtube monetary schemes, I doubt the production values are on the rise. And anyways complaining about production values of free product is pretty bad taste. Especially as one can assume also this channel feels the youtube pinch.
      But I have to say that I've seem much better videos from them. Hopefully situation isn't too bad and youtube also gets its shit together and not too many great channels die because of their greed.

    I couldn't finish the video. The flashing from one picture to the next was like watching strobe lights. I'll find out about the bike from someone who knows how to edit videos. Thanks.

    How would this bike fit a 6'3" rider, w/ 34" inseam? Cramped, comfy? Perhaps a recommendation for a better fitting bike? TIA

      saddlebag What i mean is its very uncomfortable and difficult getting in position for cornering.Other than that its a great city bike.But i literally had to pull over from the cramps in my legs from pivoting.

    Great review. I wish they'd send engineers (like someone I know) to cool places like that. Always wanted a Ducati Monster 1200R... but being 6'2'' and 300lbs (not fat) I just can't do it; that plus total cost of ownership. The wops need to realize that not everybody is a diminutive Italian who would fit on these little scooters. Going to try the XDiavel S... maybe that will fit my body, if not my bank account.

    I just wish they were reliable.... and don’t tell me they are

    • @Vincent79Vega
      @Vincent79Vega 7 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Paul Mistretta so you don't want to hear the truth? Always the same annoying comments, all ducatis are not reliable, even the new ones.... And I am sure u will tell me now the friend of your sister heard from the uncle that a colleague had 4 Ducatis and all had very expensive failures after 2 miles ...

    • @tommy605
      @tommy605 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      They're as reliable as the owner. Monster's are more reliable than the Panigale's because all of their newest tech goes into those, then trickles down to the monster line once the initial bugs are worked out. I've not seen or heard of anyone having reliability issues with a monster, certainly nothing to indicate it's unreliable. Panigale's and multistrada's, yes.
      At the same time, no one has ever bought a Ducati thinking about reliability. Most people that buy them now buy them for status and aren't prepared for the care owning one requires. Well, maybe not most, but certainly a large number of people do.

    • @saddle8bag
      @saddle8bag 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The first one I bought back in 2000 was because I guessed it would be the best sport touring bike ever made and I loved the yellow. I was right on the former and so glad to see they brought back the latter...

    • @tommy605
      @tommy605 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The build quality is nicer. Even somehow the plastic bits seem better. I just think most people, at least in North America are buying it for the same reason they buy expensive fast cars. Not that they will ride them how they're intended to be ridden, but how they'll look standing beside at the coffee shop. I mean, a Ducati has to attract girls, right? Lol. Two years ago now, my friend bought the 899 Panigale and thought it'd be a chick magnet. Now at coffee shop, the crowd of people around him is more of a sausage fest. He's so disappointed. He didn't care about the bike at all. Just the status he thought that came with it. $18k lesson learned.... maybe.
