    That was a lot of fun. You should see the live set they did for Woodstock. It’s insane… I remember watching it when it aired, they had been in the mosh pit all day while it was raining. So by the time they got on stage they were covered in mud lol. Who would have thought that almost 30 years later that same guy would be taking home an Oscar for scoring a Disney/Pixar movie. I love Trent, he’s gotten clean and matured and his talent has only gotten better.

    Kind of disappointed with how much cross talk is going on over the songs. Also disappointed that it wasn't mentioned how it's HE and HIM, not THEY/THEM. It's one guy, Trent Reznor, doing everything, then just getting a band together around him to play his songs. Not only is he considered the godfather of industrial, he has stayed on top of the music scene for almost 40 years. Also tough to pick another musician as forward thinking regarding music on the internet. Overall, nice to see younger generations get introduced to some of the best modern music. It will be interesting to see if you introduce them to the Maynard James Keenan triumvirate of Perfect Circle, Tool, and Puscifer.

    • @AMVryan
      @AMVryan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’s a point to the misleading HIM statements, I have no idea how much these guys know & NIN are a ‘band’ as much as the Foo Fighters & Dave Grohl are. But I’ve learned, they don’t know much so future episodes can get direct to the point!

      Just to add, yes, it's mostly TR writing & composing, but that's not to say that other members of the live band haven't contributed in the studio either. Atticus Ross, Chis Vrenna, et al put a lot of themselves into NIN too. And yeah, there have been a lot of different members over the years, but each of them brought something to the band that wasn't there before. Just look at the credits for any track.

The stuff you're talking about is mall goth culture which co-opted and commodified the goth aesthetic and made it corporate, which actual goths didn't appreciate very much given their punk roots.

    These guys just talking shit over the song, not even paying the basic of respect of listening intently. Its fine to make succint comments, but when you're all talking at once and you're saying inane crap, you're just making a noise. I mean, maybe pause the song to discuss at key moments?

    So satisfying to see NIN virgins get goosebumps!
    To the gen-z kiddos, start with listening to The Fragile album if you like Just Like You Imagined. And for the EDM guy, try Year Zero after that. It’s almost entirely electronic.
    And lol to Mr. cool in the back with no emotions - ranking NIN towards the bottom because he didn’t like the movement they started… whilst the entire time is emotionless and quite in the corner with his sunglasses on…

    Tarantino wrote natural born killers based on his own previous script for true romance. he later disowned NBK as Oliver Stone made so many changes. the soundtrack for NBK was done by Trent Reznor who is the main force behind nine inch nails (and sole official member for decades) you really should go down the rabbit hole… he has collaborated with ministry, pigface, tori amos, david bowie, niggy tardust, etc. he has experimented with many different ways of recording - year zero was recorded on laptops in the hotel after shows. they made one of the first alternate reality games as advertising for the year zero album as well. his use of harmony, melody, and mood are beyond reproach with references jazz and classical theory. he’s won 2 oscars for movie soundtracks and composed the score for the game Quake. ridiculously talented and smart, he retired NIN for a bit and gave away (for free!) the last album he made before that happened… it was called “the slip” he gave us the slip. lol.

      to this day, if you mention quentin tarantino in my mom's presence, she'll state that she hates his movies, and will cite natural born killers and pulp fiction, having never seen any of his work since.
      part of me laughs, and part of me is very sad for that, as he is one of my favorite filmmakers.

      Kind of a weird comment from a guy with repeating names, because there’s so many questions raised here. Why 2 same names? Who should shut up? You do know what kind of show you’re watching…right? It’s not the Thomas Brock listening hour where we play you some tunes for your pleasure. It’s for everyone. Please, if you’re a NIN fan, I don’t need to tell you to enjoy these songs on your own. So what’s up bro? What’s your shoe size?
