SQ Basics Pt 1 - Front to Rear Clipping Prevention and Gain Matching a Fully Active 2/3 Way System

Welcome to Casual Car Audio! This is Part 1 of my SQ Basics series. In this video I teach you how to prevent clipping and ensure you are getting the most out of your fully active 2 or 3 way system. We start with the Head Unit and then work our way back to the DSP and the Amplifiers.
Most 2 or 4 channel amps used for the Tweeters and Mid Range have the capability of producing more Watts RMS than these components can handle. I walk you through how to prevent damage to these components by setting your amp sensitivity to "match" these components.

thank you for explanation, will lower the gain on my amplifiers asap as I push 55w to my 20w (150w max) tweeter and 30w (160w max) mid (focal flax), nothing blowed yet but levels are over the top I guess. Actually my mids are smelling funny, smelling toasty, I'm not kidding. Still giving me the sound tho, so will protect them asap.

First/foremost: thanks for the video. Question: couldn't we simply use the multimeter oscilloscope for various frequencies, sans calculations and volt readings?

In your part 2 video your using REW. REW has an Oscilloscope and RTA tool. Is it possible to use a sound card as the input selection in REW and connect your RCA's to the soundcard and take the readings in REW?

When you were setting the gain on the tweeter, did you have a load; a 4 ohm resistor? I'm assuming the tweeter was disconnected at the time that the output was 25V. Good stuff though .... thanks for the video.

You shouldnt have the eq flat on the deck ,if you're going to use it afterwards..the deck or/and amp will probably go into clipping .imo into

@@smtyson1650You do all equalization before gain staging. If you’re boosting eq then you want it not to clip; hence why you have it on while tuning.

There's a statement he made that's actually incorrect, he stated he has too much wattage for the speakers! Which is incorrect, that is watts (power) will NOT destroy your drivers!!
underpowering them with the amp in clipping or head unit in clipping will destroy them.
by ramping High current levels....
