    hi, I'm Ismael from chile, great job with this mechanic tip, but i got a few question's to do.
    how mineral oil can be use it in both brands, knowing the mineral oil are diferent.
    magura use BLUE royal mineral oil and shimano use mineral oil.
    do you compare both label and study the heating point?
    i ask this beacuse i'm getting started with the same proyect thing that you do.
    i'm so exhausted from use sram brakes, and your video iluminated me to do that.
    and for another question, where do you get it the information??
    i hope you can answer mis questions.

    • @mihaichiriac480
      @mihaichiriac480 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      A little too late, but maybe it will help others.
      Unlike DOT, mineral oil can be used interchangeably. Magura will void your warranty tho. Yes, the boiling point is slighty different, but it is unlikeley to reach that temperature anyway. I use a 3rd party mineral oil in my brakes and never failed me so far.
      Any mineral oil brake lever is theoretically compatible with any mineral oil caliper, but the volume of fluid moved might be different. If you want a more "on-off" feel, look for a lever with a bigger volume and/or a ramp (like shimano mt501 -> xtr). If you want a longer throw, look for longer lever and/or lower lever piston volume.
      Consider changing the material of the brakepads, there are 4 main marterials you can choose from: resin, semimetalic, ceramic and metalic. They drasticly change the brake feel. The same with de diameter of the rotor.
      Tyres: the brake component few talk about. If you skid with front tyre on grippy terrain, you don't have powerful brakes, you have bad tyres.
      Hope it helps, happy trails 🤙🏻

      Using any brake with two fingers is incorrect. There is no need to. Even when lever is for 2 fingers you can move handle a bit and use it with one finger on tip.

      @jeffryLebovsky 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @bananas stuff it meens that your brakes doesn't work. Take some alcohol, clean your discs(or rims), take your pads off and boil it in water, this steps will help to remove any oil or grease from braking surfaces. Adjust brake handles for 1 finger use(you must be pulling with second phalanx), and position pads correctly. If it is hydraulic - rebleed it, if it is mechanical - check the cable and casing, add few drops of oil in casing if it is needed for better slide. Brakes are still weak? You can play with different types of pads, buy bigger discs. Even cheapest shimano mechanical disc brakes with 160 rotors can stop me in wheelie with one finger.

      They held up great for a month, then I had a hard time keeping them bled. They started leaking fluid from the lever. I think this is because I used a shimano barb, instead of a magura. I ended up swapping them back- so I can't say much more now

      I have been advised to use only magura oil due to viscosity.with Shimano red oil magura calipers tend to leak from the pistons.
