I remember this being in practical classics in the late 90's and after the feature it all got controversial over the re-shell with people writing in complaining . Quite amusing really 😂.. good to see it's still around.
I can't believe you fitted the SU manifold on the engine without a new valley gasket and seals. As the cost of some of the P6 items are exorbitant those items in proportion are for nothing. What about cleaning all the crap off and painting it, costs really nothing and gives the channel some credence rather than bit a bit of a bodge job show. And no I don't agree that the float mechanism in the brake fluid reservoir is troublesome, it's a simple device that doesn't rely on some stupid electronic module to show the potential issue, unlike some modern shit boxes. I would not run the engine without sorting out the integrity of the cooling system first. Otherwise an interesting project but things are not as straightforward as you imagine. There are a lot of things that need attention, some are safety critical items .You wanted some comments so I've made some.
I said in the video it's only temporary till the holly arrives in accouple weeks. Re the float out of the dozens of P6's I had none of them ever worked including tidy cars that were on the road you can ask any P6 guy they never work right.
Hmm..maybe not a huge surprise for a nerly 50 year old part that lives in brake fluid?Maybe take it a touch more seriously and get a new one as its a brake safety device, its not all about exhaust burble and rare glass roofs, all the the small add up to a nice looking and properly functioning car.
You would struggle with good old David helping you with everything the wiring problems i don't blame you for using the old gaskets just to get it running but nicking the su carbs off mums why do it should of waited for the holly carb and just put that on as you giving your self more work and expense with gaskets i would of left you mums car alone why upset her but yours sounds nice with the exhaust note
Sorry Sheldon but you seem to be under the impression that it’s “ Your PERSONAL preference “ on EFI or carburettors 🤔 😂😂😂, don’t we get a say ? 😁. Interesting video Sheldon enjoyed it 👌🏻 and Ofc joking about preferences
My V8 engine is still safe and sound in my shed I just don't have an SD1 body to bolt it to, that multi v serpentine belt is a bit different my engine has separate single v belts
Hi Sheldon. I follow your Channel with interest. I have a friend who lives in Devon with a P6. Do you trade any spares? He is looking for power steering parts for his P6. If so, let me know how I can send you a message. Cheers.
Oh thank god hahaha I have a 20ft shipping container full of spare parts that I am selling right now including some power steering stuff best bet get him to message me on facebook sheldon talago
Why not take the last one you did to a show, its a running, driving complete quite tidy car. This one ,although originally quite rare,is now basically just a modified P6,nothing wrong with that, but in terms of originality, surely the brown car is more original.
Another great video. It will take whatever time it needs to get it how you want it. At least itbis in capable hands. Look forward to see it moving

Maybe all of the ones youve had have all been sat for years and unloved and thats why they dont work.
@@jasonburrows-tr2bd No well over 10 were tidy and on the road and none worked

@@jasonburrows-tr2bd Yeah I got one in my unit
You seem to be making very good progress ignore the naysayers, well done

Yeah positive fitting the grill very in keeping with neighbours and far less likely to attract drunk vandals.
The joys of owning a Rover P6b 😊
Sheldon if the show is at the bottom of your street 🤔 am sure it will drive there under own power 👍🏻

I guess the engine is an original Buick nail head design? Those horizontal heads are certainly unique.
The original power steering pumps were down low below the crank pulley on a separate belt.
Saginaw.

Am I to presume your Mother doesn't drive much anyway or is there another car she uses? Either way it's nice of her to let you rob her ar of parts!! 😃
No he doesn't drive anymore not sure what to do with the SD1
Seriously; If you don't want the efi stuff I could find a use for it on my SD1
I will be selling the plenum and intake manifold
OK I'm in. £100 for both plus any ancillary bolts, hoses, linkages, ECU, etc.?...not that spaghetti Junction of wires though
Deal?

I knew you would not get that running on injection that’s an easy system to work out
Hey up, you have probably the cleanest hands of anybody that's worked on a car, is your holly carb a 4 barrel as not heard of one in 390 size
Probably the most used, most available and most common holley carb used on RV8 for the last 40 years or more
More money down the drain !
It's not cost me anything 😂
