Finally... Someone that shares some of the settings on a Inlay carve. I am about to do my first inlay cut, so this gives me some extra perspective. Thank you very much.
And in the first minute no less!
Wow. Art and Science what a great cutting board!
Thanks 👍
Thank you so much for sharing !!!
Very beautiful works !!
no problem. Thanks (sharing desired ;))
Great video, love the finished result. Are you using wood dowels for the fence? I was thinking of going that route.
Thanks. Yes that are dowels
Amazing work! Thanks for all the details. Maybe one day....
Why two passes on the male portion?
You can do it with one but i don't want to go deeper than diameter x 1.5 per pass
Would be a lot better listening to the sounds of the machines. Instead we get crappy acid music. Ruined the whole video
Ok thanks for my next i will try it. I don't like it to but the most time is timelase with no sound
Thanks! Very knowledgeable and very generous. Surprised by two pocket settings. I didn't understand their meaning.
Most of us who watch inlay videos admire the entire creation and we wish to do something like that. Almost no one gives good information on the type of bit, the depths etc. but you did. A most excellent video and I will be subscribing and looking at other videos, Thanks for doing this. I hope others will do the same.
Thx nice to hear 👍
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. Short and sweet right to the point! I subscribed looking forward for more educational videos!
Thanks 👍
Hi, new subscriber and hoping for a lot of content here :)
Can I just ask about your 15° bit, I see you have set the angle to 7.5° in the tool library. Why is that? I probably have the same aliexpress bits, 15°, 3fl, 0,3 tip, 6mm shank but I have them set to 15° in the tool library and perphaps that's wrong of me. My inlays are shit with lots of gaps so wondering if that is my problem.
Hi mine is also a 15° but in from the center to one side its an angle of 7.5 °. 2 times 7,5 = 15
This is definitely one of the most insightful videos on quality, deep inlays that I've seen. Thank you so much for sharing! The only question left standing is how on earth do you get the vectors created? I'm really I to cars and cannot figure out the best way to vectorize something like this. Thanks again!!!
Thanks i hope it helps ;) there are a couple prog. (inkscape Vcarve etc.) but it tooks a lot of time to create the vectors
@@str_unique6431 I appreciate the response. I use inkscape, gimp, fusion 360, and carveco and I still can't figure out how to do this accurately. Do you manually trace?
@@C5Zautoxandtrack first auto and then manual adjustments. it takes a couple of hours
@@str_unique6431 “A couple of hours” in conservative.
Great video and board! Beautiful work also.
I have a couple questions for you, though!
How do you press your plug into the pocket? Why do you show two different bits for the same tool path?
Thanks for you help!
With a hammer. 3mm for rough and the 15° for the fine pass
@@str_unique6431 I saw the hammer but that’s all you use? No clamps or presses??
Thanks for responding.
It fits very well but u can use clamps or add some weight
Great video. Kudos for including the data. Some, who shall remain anonymous, do excellent work but I guess want the accolades without sharing with the community what they have determined works best. It takes a lot of time to develop that information and realizing the best is not a “one size fits all” approach to inlays.
Thanks
Thank you for the tooling info!!!
Hey mate why do you do multiple depth toolpaths for the plug? Looks great Ill have to pinch that picture and make one for my brother... he is obsessed with these beatles.
Hey thanks. Its like rough and finish milling but you can do all at one
Very helpful, Thank you!
That was soooo fun to watch! Being an ex 911 owner, this is a great piece! I'd love to learn more.
Thank you 👍
@@str_unique6431any chance you're in Colorado?? 🙂
@@theebalz no i am located in europe
Hello, in the 0.40 min part. the initial depth is 0 and the flat depth is 5. so 1ST appears - the initial depth is 2.5 mm, the flat depth is 2.0 mm.
after 2ST- the initial depth is 4.9mm, the flat depth is 2.0mm. I'm in doubt.
Pocket 5mm dept and plug 4.9 in 2 passes 0.1 glue gap and 2 mm clearance
Thank you.
I hope it helps some one
Perfect!
thanks !!!!
I`m prepairing to cut my first inly and I`m watching this video and setting up Vectric. Can you tell what is order of using 3mm bit and 15°bit? You have two depts for for each one. Do you first use:
1.) 3mm for first 2.5mm pass and then make 4.9mm pass again with 3mm and then change to 15° and go again with 2.5mm pass and then to 4.9mm pass?
or you go
2.) 3mm+change to 15° for 2.5mm pass and then again change back to 3mm+change to 15°for 4.9mm pass?
Maybe just one other question - why you dont use "Inlay tooplath" instead of Vcarve toolpath?
Thank you!
Hello you are right 3mm 2.5-->4.9 and then change to the V bit and same again
@@str_unique6431 What drum sander U are using?
A (holzmann) but they are mostly relative similar
Espetacular👏👏👏
Thanks
Amazing!
Thanks 👍
Absolutely stunning!!! Das ist großartig!
Thanks ! Danke 👍
I bet you use press for "clamping". Can you tell me what is the time of pressing? Is 2-3 hours enough? does it depend on the drying time of the glue? If I use fast drying glue can i speed up the pressing process?
thank you
Hello . Yes 2-3 hours is enough but i let it over night. I made some tests with one hour drying time with no problems.
