- My 2016 Mazda 6 Skyactiv G 2.5 liter oil change service was due. Every 5000 miles a oil change is recommended per the Mazda 6 service maintenance schedule. I replaced the oil with 5w20 Mobile One Full synthetic. I removed the usual Fram oil filter and installed a new Wix oil filter. Wix was reviewed to be far superior over Fram. I added 4.8 quarts of fresh oil into my 2016 Mazda 6 and now I am good to go for another 5000 miles until the next oil change.

Make more videos while you do stuff like this mate. Very helpful for viewers and yourself too. Win win situation
Thanks man, I plan to make content. Takes time, money and research to make each project happen. Back with more content soon!
@@JDMRightHandDrive that's the way to go.. good stuff mate 👍
I just did this myself. Surprisingly easy.
Good job man! I always enjoyed changing oil myself so at least I know everything's done properly.
Really helpful! Thank you!!
Great video. To the point. Thanks for posting.
Glad it was helpful!
Nice video thank you. I think the underneath covers is for noice reduction. Previous year mazda 6 are famous to be really loud inside the car
Good point!
Thank you so much. 👍🏽
You are so welcome, glad to help!
Thank you!
No problem 👍
Have you had any issues with that plate/panel underneath being gone since you’ve had it? Mine started hanging off this morning and I’m thinking about just removing it until I can find time to fix it next week.
Did u replace the crush washer? Im gonna change mines but cant find the crush washer at autozone
Oh nvm lol just got to the part where u reused it thanks
I changed the transmission filter and oil at 40,000 it was black.
I thought oil for this can go 10k miles
It does say it can be changed at 10k if you want. The oil is pretty dirty and burnt up by then. I would rather just spend a little time to change in and prolong engine life.
@@JDMRightHandDrive for full synthetic?
Remember to let the oil drain a couple of minutes
The Fram “Ultra Synthetic” Filter is much better than the Wix filter.
Fram captures 20 microns compared to the Wix which is rated at 35-40 microns. Big difference.
I will check that oil filter out the next time! Thanks!
Actually with oil filters the smaller the particles it captures the slower it actually filters meaning more oil bypasses the filter since filters do not filter 100% of engine oil all the time. Also cheaper oil filters tend to have less filter media in them, which means they stop filtering sooner as they can simply hold less particles, and lose efficiency much faster. Add in again the more particles it filters the faster it fills up and stop filtering.
That said the Fram ultra synthetic filter is a good filter but pretty much everything but the Fram orange, and tough series are good. Those 2 frams have dirty cardboard media caps. The best oil filter however is Mobil 1 filter but as long as someone is changing them on time a basic Super Tech oil filter does everything it needs to do.
Fran is cardboard
I'd recommend using disposable gloves.
No not really it's not like he works on cars all the time changing oil all day
