I'm honestly surprised pure Grass wasn't within the first 100 Pokemon, given that Grass is one of the three starter types. And I'm shocked it took until the fifth generation to finally get pure Flying.
I feel like when a pokemon was supposed to have "a magic vibe" to it, they would just slap psychic type to it, but then they came up with the fairy type wich fits magic more and now use it in the same way.
For me, both types can work for magic, if used in different areas. Psychic deals with the arcane, mind control and levitation, while Fairy is related to spirituality, healing and nature. Another way to see it in an RPG setting would be to relate Psychic to black mages or wizards, and Fairy to white mages or clerics.

And the Psychic/Fairy types like Mr. Mime, Gardevoir, Tapu Lele, Hatterene, and Scream Tail are basically all just very magical and that’s like it

I agree that it was a nice touch. Even though I didn’t know what exactly it meant, them being there told me that “okay, this guy isn’t just forgetting them, he knows they exist and have the same type combo.” And then he brought up the Smoliv and Deerling thing and I was like “Ohhhh!”

- Ogerpon Wellspring Mask is the first grass/water pokémon, making the Lotad line no longer a cute.
- Ogerpon Cornerstone Mark is the first grass/rock pokémon, making the Lileep line no longer a cute.
- Galarian Slowbro is no longer a cute, introducing Munkidori.
- Galarian Weezing is no longer a cute, introducing Fezandipiti.

They should make a field gimmick that varies in effects based on the users' *primary* or first type. It'd differentiate the likes of the Ground/Dragon Flygon and the Dragon/Ground Garchomp.

I'm pretty sure the type of the move Revelation Dance is determined by the user's primary type.
First typing gets like 1.75x STAB bonus instead of 1.5

I've always think that there should be a Pro/Con to having X Type as either primary or secondary instead of the order having zero effect.
I've also always think that double weaknesses are stupidly unfair, specially when a weakness already deals doble damage. (add that to the fact it will most likely be a STAB, so a ×4 becomes a ×6)
So maybe change it to something like:
Primary Type gives: ×1.5 STAB, ×2 from Weaknesses but you keep inmunities
Secondary Type gives: ×1.25 STAB, ×1.5 from Weaknesses but any inmunity becomes a resistance (like holding a Target Ring)
That way the Primary holds more weight both offensively and defensively over the second, while the Secondary functions as a complement to add slight resistances and power to moves. A double weakness would be a ×3 (×4.5, if the move came from a Primary STAB, ×3.75 if Secondary).
Or maybe Secondary STAB should be ×1.2 or ×1.3, idk.
But at least it would add some thing to separate mons that get outclassed by others just cuz they have the same Type combo

The gas monster was so cool and the battle script genuinely made it feel like one of the first actual Pokémon bosses along with W/BKyurem (which were kinda easy).

You know veluza is water/psychic because it needs to reattach it’s flesh back to its body and it does that with its psychic powers (it takes off its flesh with said psychic powers so it can move faster and then it needs to put them back) if it were steel it wouldn’t work

Gen IX has now joined Gens I, V, and VI to introduce a new Type combo, and have both permutations represented, having both Pawmo and Iron Hands.
Gen I introduced Rhyhorn and Geodude, Gen V introduced Victini and Darmanitan (Zen mode), and for Gen VI you may think it's a Fairy combo, but in Gen 6 only Togetic and Togekiss were dual typed with Fairy as their primary type, so their's is Inkay and Hoopa (Unbound).

I gotta say, it took me an embarrassingly long time to realise why certain dual type mons are not qualifying for their respective dual typing... and I don't even know if I am right yet because I haven't seen the explanation yet.
I find it fascinating that, over a thousand mons later, we still have type combos that have not been represented yet, some that we still only have one member/family of (Ghosts seem to be getting shafted more than the others), and that it took till gen 8 to get all types a Legendary representative, except whoops, actually no because Bug still only has a Mythical!

Dragon/Fairy isn't technically the only one introduced then taken away. It depends how you look at ???, the original type for Curse, and even had an unused Arceus plate, which would have made Arceus the only ??? Type Pokemon.
Grass water debuted in gen 3, Fire water debuted in gen 6, and grass fire debuted in gen 9.
That is a fun fact!

Rotom's forms' types weren't changed in Platinum Heart Gold and Soul Silver because it'd throw up errors when battling with Diamond and Pearl players with it if they did change it.
Imagine if your opponent sent out a Rotom and on your game you know it's weak to Shadow Ball, so you use that and it deals double damage and K.Os it.
But on their game, it's Wash Rotom and because it's Electric/Water, it doesn't take the Double Damage from Shadow Ball aand survives.
See the problem?
Gen 5 not being able to battle Diamond and Pearl fixed the whole problem so they could finally fix the issue. 🙂

Actually, the first true new Psychic/Fairy combo would, for gens 6-7, be Gradevoir. It may have been added in gen 3, but you know what was added in gen 6 (post fairy being made, thus technically counting as a man made with fairy in mind) but has a pokedex number ftom back in gen 3? MEGA Gardevoir. So it is the first designed psychic/fairy, albeit no longer available as of gen 8 onwards due to the removal of megas.
It adds to the conundrum!

I don’t think megas should be treated as no longer existing but rather as cut pokemon similar to stuff like snivy, furfrou, minior, and other things that haven’t been in any switch games. Just because they’re not programmed into any of the latest games it doesn’t mean they no longer exist. And I don’t think their absence will be permanent, because if we ever get Kalos remakes in the far future then they’re bound to return
Given the trend we've seen with also ditching Z moves and DMax, while older Pokemon will eventually be updated into newer games, they're respective mega stones and evolutions will not - probably not until Kalos remakes, which are a LONG time away

There’s a lot of things that I wish I could change like Araquanid being Bug/Water and a lot of the recent changes in Flying types that it can’t just be flying without some sort of base type unless it’s based on a air elemental

Megas didn't get retconned, they're just not in the new games. Did Blitzle get retconned even though it was last available in Gen 7, just like Mega Altaria? Also many megas are currently available in Go and Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX and Go is about to get the Primals.
Difference is, if the full National Dex is added to the games, it is more than likely that Megas won't come with it - so yes, despite Blitzle not being catchable, it's still transferable, which means it's usable. The same is not true for Megas

Fun Fact: Iron Valiant's types solidify that it's a paradox of both Gardevoir and Gallade since it used both of their secondary types, the fairy type is from Gardevoir whilst the fighting type is from Gallade

In Generation VI, we were introduced to two moves which can add further types to existing Pokemon;
- Trick-or-Treat (adds Ghost-type)
- Forest's Curse (adds Grass-type)
If this is used with all pokemon, we could end up with Bulbasaur (Grass/Poison/Ghost), Charmander (Fire/Grass/Ghost or Fire/Ghost/Grass, depending on the combo), Charizard (Fire/Flying/Grass/Ghost or Fire/Flying/Ghost/Grass), etc.
Watch megas show back up in the DLC after all this... it's not gonna happen, but it'd be funny if it did.

It mildly annoys me that there's no bug/dragon (or vice versa) pokemon yet. Flygon and Yanmega were perfect candidates for the typing.
While I agree it'd be cool for Yanmega to be Bug/Dragon, the "dragonfly" pun doesn't work in Japanese. The Trapinch line is based on an antlion, not a dragonfly.

Rock/Ghost and Poison/Ice are the two I'm most surprised we haven't seen. Rock/Ghost because it would be super easy, just do some kind of haunted statue. Poison/Ice because it's one of those type combinations that seems like it'd be good, but it would actually be pretty bad competitively.
we have to give it to pekestar studio. i mean it introduced demon the gen 5 dark ghost WONDEGUARD pokemon. yeah that is that ninjatome you always wanted with no weaknesses and more than 1 hp

I think Ursaluna's primary type was swapped because it just feels right to have the primary type be what the mon's more like. For example: Steelix is **clearly** steel first. Shieldon & Aron also show that contrast/difference very well, I think.
