local dimming is enabled for starfield test right? i guess thats why they are so dim because the monitor cant really do such small objects well lit so it opts to show them very dimly and thus no blooming at all
@@haewymetal I think so, local dimming was on, but the stars were dim. Normal images are very bright with brightness set to 50, so I think you're correct on what's happening.
@@gregmattersen If you have another display aswell, say a non miniled non hdr display, if you view the same thing on the other or both side by side, does the other display appear brighter on those same stars?
hi i just bought this monitor but I have one problem with it, it's that hdr mode lacks brightness a lot compare to sdr and I can't level up the brightness in hdr mode, any help?
I think it's because of local dimming not necessarily the hdr mode, when the image on the screen has many small bright objects with a dark background the local dimming will just dim everything to combat blooming. try adjusting the local dimming level
@@mikediezel0923 his talking abt hdr, not local dimming and what im saying is that in my experience, having own the monitor, the display settings be it brightness or colours are locked in the OSD. Thus limiting the option to increase display brightness.
@@mikediezel0923 yea it could with white colours but overall when I’m playing, it looks quite dim and there’s a Japanese reviewer that compared it with a hdr400 monitor and the hdr400 seems to be brighter. But overall, it is still an amazing monitor for the price range so I can’t complain much abt it haha
Is local dimming high or low?

I have issues with mine, turned local dimming off and saw many stuck pixels.
That sucks, hopefully you get a replacement without hassle. Did the same test, no dead pixels on mine.
Is this a glossy display? Amazon says it is, but I don't believe them
Not glossy, it's a matte finish

Nope it’s built like that
