    red tint issue is fixed in later firmware versions, i think after v1.0.08.
    but for v1.0.06 you can set color space to Native, red tint issue is gone then, if not, in Native you can adjust red/green/blue and set to your preference.
    Local dimming on High only if you have HDR enabled, completely different experience, if HDR is not enabled do not use local dimming.
    I really hope Xiaomi finds a way to update the display firmware via a software or from the DP/HDMI cable.
    Hope it helps future viewers/new owners.

      Is there a way to set the RGB in the OSD, I didn't find it. Thank you so much for your insight.

      @@SpookyFairy Yes you can, after setting 'Color Space' to 'Native', you can go to 'Color Temperature', select 'Custom' and RGB values show up for you to modify, all of these settings are under 'Picture Mode'

      I might get it once I get a new laptop and hopefully it will be fixed. Overall a great monitor but still need better graphics card with all the unoptimized games as well. Again, thank you, I'll pin your comment as it is very helpful.

      Should i buy the monitor i am looking for an hdr monitor and my budget is 350, i found it on alixpress and with all the promo codes i could get it for 200 euro, is 200 euro a good price for the monitor and i also want a monitor that can last at least 3 or more years so would you recommand it?

    I got this monitor before and return it cause of firmware bug (Red tint when change colour space, HDR ON/OFF at windows cause red tint bug too and dimming bug).
    Theres a temporary fix I share on some group before.
    For colour space, after choose the colour space you want, simply change to power saving mode, then back to normal mode, it will fix the red tint.
    Or just use Native mode, its pretty accurate.
    For HDR, turn off and on HDR again at your monitor/OSD setting, not windows. It works and for some people, it doesnt. Works for 06-07 firmware. Mine was 07
    And for the blooming effect when turn on local dimming on high, you need to sit straight ahead face to face with the monitor, it will reduce the blooming. Its happen cause this is IPS panel
    I really want to buy this monitor again but will wait for next years till they fix alot of issue in this monitor.
    And if this is your first real HDR monitor, I recomend you to try watch HDR 1000 or 1500 brightness videos on youtube, its will make you blind 😂

    Got mine just today
    Unfortunately mine have v1.0.06
    But I haven't face red/blue tint issue on mine
    The dimming zone throb when browsing actually doesn't bother me at this price point and you can experience and consume true HDR content.
    Biggest negative for me are no USB so you can't update the firmware.

      Juast sit staight body and face to face with the monitor and the dimming zone blooming less noticeable

      I have been trying it for a week. Great monitor. Tried it on my pc rtx4070 and with ps5. Local dimming hdr vrr work flawless, 60, 120 144 and 180 look great. For sdr people need to remember this.monitor is very bright, I keep the local dimming on for sdr but sdr is.meant for lower brightness, I use 12 which is about 160 nits. For desktop I use either sdr or hdr with ajusted brightness in Windows.
      Standard picture, native color, rgb 53 50 50 and contrast 69. Local dimming high.
      Super satisfecho, even with Local dimming off it is great but there is no reason to turn it off

    Overall, can be a great 2K screen if you get it not as I got it as it offers great colors, deep blacks, sturdy construction and great option to rotate/tilt and change the height which is a very welcome feature. You can always turn the local dimming off if you like and enjoy it when appropriate. For me, I'll wait a bit more and reconsider once I get a 50-series card (when it's out). But it is a good display, just not for me at this time.

    thanks for the review, this is what i was looking for. if this monitor is set with only default settings (without enabling local dimming and HDR) is this the best IPS monitor on the market or just buy a regular IPS panel monitor with the same color gamut and refreshrate?

    • @SpookyFairy
      @SpookyFairy  14 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Depends on your local pricing to be honest vs other IPS and whether you want higher refresh rate (Above 180Hz). I would say that if you take the local dimming out of the equation it's still a great monitor, very sturdy and well built, great tilt/rotate/height adjustment option which is great, and cool led light at the back. And when you add the local dimming on top of it, it becomes a no brainer, just superb value if you get it for a good price (at some markets it can be higher this is why I'm saying that). What makes it so worth it is the local dimming and also the number of local dimming lights and at its price point. There are cheaper option if you don't need the local dimming or don't plan to make use of it.

      I agree with Ryan, price wise this is the best right now, but make sure you get it with the latest firmware so you won't need to deal with the issues I've shown in the video. I'm also positive more competitive monitors will be released in 2025, most probably early 2025. They won't let Xiaomi get away with it :)

    Hello from Italy! I am waiting for the delivery of my G Pro (Monday). I ordered it after seeing enthusiastic reviews on TH-cam and some tech sites (PCWorld, Tom's, IGN) and nowhere was there any mention of firmware bugs. Only after I ordered it I read about the problems. I am shitting myself waiting to see what firmware mine will have!
    Anyway, I find it crazy that they have not implemented a way to update the firmware! We are in 2025, damn it! Xiaomi should be ashamed!

    • @SpookyFairy
      @SpookyFairy  11 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Ciao! Yeh it was very disappointing for me, I was looking forward after so long to finally update my display. What more worried me is the quality assurance, how can a display leave the factory without being checked once. This made me think twice whether I'll by a Xiaomi screen ever again. It was even worse with local warranty, they didn't answer but once I wrote "I returned the screen" they answer after 5 seconds. That's a big no no for me, and I'm happy that I returned it. I hope this won't be in your case. I hope for more competition in that space. I had a feeling it's a rush product and with reduction of price, this is why, so it seems, not good QA and no USB, cutting price and this was the result I believe.

    Is local dimming without much input lag possible in gaming?
    Updating firmware is not possible?

    • @eyescreamsandwitch52
      @eyescreamsandwitch52 7 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      For MiniLED, i don't think so unless they put a heck of a chip for the backlight algorithm. The only way to get perfect local dimming with little to no input lag is through an OLED screen

    There's so much blooming when there is a grey background when using the mouse cursor on mine 😢

    • @SpookyFairy
      @SpookyFairy  14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      turn it off outside of game and movies. In some games I'm sure it will be a problem but the option to lower it or turn it off is nice. I wonder how much this can be addressed by a better algorithm or it's just the inherit nature of the tech, so to make it better more local dimming lights are needed so it will be less prominent.

    • @jonathanng138
      @jonathanng138 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @SpookyFairy when using Adobe premiere pro whicj has a grey background the bloom isn't that obvious where as In TH-cam dark mode it is, I'm pretty sure a firmware update can solve lots of these issues problem is I don't know if Xiaomi would provide them

    • @SpookyFairy
      @SpookyFairy  14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      When you are working I recommend just turning it off to be honest but up to you. Regarding firmware update, there isn't a USB connection and some mentioned about via HDMI that it might be possible (never heard of that option). The other option is to callback defective ones and let the company responsible for the warranty to take care of that and flash the firmware with new one if needed. The thing is that I haven't found anything about Xiaomi acknowledging this issue officially in any place. But the fact that people mentioning a new firmware, seems that it might be the case. I really loved this display, it was great aside from the problem. Regarding the local dimming and algorithm, I can't tell as this i my first mini led display, so I have no idea how the performance is compared to other monitors. What I know is that it has more local dimming lights compared to the AOC, I think twice more or something similar, so basically it should be better in terms of hollow but not sure whether this can be improved by software optimizations but might be. If I know more I'll update, it's time for me to learn more about certain technologies.

      @SpookyFairy it's too troublesome to return it, I'll just keep it and sell it next time and get an OLED instead it's still a good monitor regardless but that blooming is freaking obvious and I hate it, the only way to get rid of it is not use dark mode that's how you get rid of it
