I think it's because of local dimming not necessarily the hdr mode, when the image on the screen has many small bright objects with a dark background the local dimming will just dim everything to combat blooming. try adjusting the local dimming level

@@mikediezel0923 his talking abt hdr, not local dimming and what im saying is that in my experience, having own the monitor, the display settings be it brightness or colours are locked in the OSD. Thus limiting the option to increase display brightness.

@@keanelow2370 I thought it could reach 1000 nits on hdr according to Tom's hardware, maybe it's a qc issue?

@@mikediezel0923 yea it could with white colours but overall when I’m playing, it looks quite dim and there’s a Japanese reviewer that compared it with a hdr400 monitor and the hdr400 seems to be brighter. But overall, it is still an amazing monitor for the price range so I can’t complain much abt it haha

@gregmattersen thank you fir the reply so there is no peak 1000nits mode like on the alienware aw3423dw? I read your article on this monitor saw you had a qd oled before. Would like to get a qd oled but really want the option to choose whether to use trueblack 400 or peak1000 depending on the content.

@gregmattersen can you tell me what windows hdr reports the peak brightness at or what brightness it clips at in hdr calibration. Sorry for the very specific questions I would like to buy a qd oled specifically for hdr.

@@haewymetal I think so, local dimming was on, but the stars were dim. Normal images are very bright with brightness set to 50, so I think you're correct on what's happening.

@@gregmattersen If you have another display aswell, say a non miniled non hdr display, if you view the same thing on the other or both side by side, does the other display appear brighter on those same stars?

It does for me. :)

Have you tested it with ps5? If so, does the monitor support the ps5 with both hdr and vrr at the same time?

@@reynan218 if you pause the HDR test in my video on any scene with bright lines next to dark backgrounds, you can see the blooming (it’s very hard to see any at all, the high number of backlight zones helps a lot with this)

@@gregmattersen cant you just make a 10 second short displaying a field of stars against a black background on the display with the phone/camera shutter adjusted to be as close to real life as possible?

this should be a bit better, ips panel, more local dimming zones, unfortunately no usb for future firmware updates

@@Matej_Krnic I’m sensitive to backlight bleed too, and unless you disable the local dimming feature (on by default), you’re not going to see any glow on dark scenes at all. The HDR test in my video shows some examples of bright lines and patterns next to black background, if you pause and look closely you can see the minimal bleed. I really have to look for it to see any, it’s almost OLED level brights next to darks.

does the monitor flicker when local dimming is turned off? this is a pwm monitor.

How would you rate HDT expirience?

@@chico_fiesta HDR? Excellent, one of the best I've used.

None of the sub-$2k bikes I've reviewed so far have enough torque to really climb anything but mild hills on just throttle. Most do pretty good on moderate hills if you pedal with moderate effort, and steep hills are a struggle with all of these models, including the Boxer. In the video when I stopped, that was with pedal assist, the hill was a moderately steep hill (it was steeper than it looks in the video). On a regular mountain bike, I would probably have made it a bit farther before running out of gas or hitting a rock/rut the wrong way and jumping down to walk.

I'd reach out to Mingda, if it's under warranty they should send a replacement extruder, mine never had that issue, sorry!

This was after maybe 2 or 3 hours scattered practice sessions, took a few nights before i could confidently mount/dismount without holding a pole or wall, then learning to turn was a few more sessions. I’ll try to film some more for sure!

I'm an e-scooter enthusiast and have been EUC curious for a while but skeptical of the price and my ability to ride one. At 299 shipped with coupon codes ordering this was a no brainer! I'm excited to get it and try this out!

I just got one of these today. Got it charged and stood on it and went back and forth a few times in my shed. It's dark out and I didn't want to start "learning" in the dark. I come from escooters and ebikes so the learning curve should be "interesting". Figured I'd learn on this before I decided if I wanted a much faster and more expensive ones. Also those mountains in the background are beautiful. Wish I was practicing there myself.. have fun!!

The constant refresh is only on the regal mode, to keep the highest fidelity of the image and also to prevent ghosting. You can use fast ur ultra fast for normal usage outside reading books or comics and it works great, just like a normal tablet. Heck... I even use it to watch tiktok late at night on the ultra fast refresh mode with no lag, try it 😊
