Love infrared. Mine always accompanies other camera to see the world and capture in a different light. My infrared photos either do really well or bomb in club comps. A few portraits do well!.. I do both and your are right it gives a different dimension to our photography. Embrace the flare.

I had my old Lumix GX7 converted a few years ago by Protech and coupled with an old Panasonic 12-32mm pancake lens produced so great high contrast images. It has transformed my outlook to summer time photography. Thanks for taking the time to produce this video

Thanks for the kind comment Peter. Glad you enjoyed the video. ProTech are a good firm, and as you so rightly say, using infra red gives some great high contrast images during the summer when `normal` photograph is difficult.

Just converting an image to black and white does not quite the same effect. The infra red can pick up detail that you cannot normally see.

I cannot see any reason that LiveND should not work on an IR converted camera. If you are a bit concerned about it, contact OM Systems. The will definately be able to give you an answer. Must say, you have really made a compelling case as taking anything other than sports tends to be a no-no for me during the harsh light of summer. An alternative to getting the camera converted to a single wavelength eg the 720nm option, is to get a "full spectrum" conversion then you can put a range of filters on the lens, from 550nm- 850nm all give different 'looks' and with a mirrorless system you get WYSWYG in the viewfinder. There is also an option to "channel swap" in colour and get interesting images, from subtle to 'wild.'

Thanks for commenting Barry. Glad you enjoyed it. When ProTech do the conversion, they will set a custom white balence, but its easy enough to do yourself. You just take a reading off of grass. Although the images will look monochrome in the viewfinder and on the LCD screen, they will have a slight colour cast. I convert my images to mono in Sliver FX software, and that takes the colour cast out completely. Hope that helps.

Thanks for commenting. You see a monochrome image in the viewfinder or on the back of the LCD screen. The image will have a slight `magenta tone or colour cast`, but I correct that in post processing. I use Silver FX for converting my monos, and I find it gives a nice `punchy` black and white. Hi Stephen, Thanks for commenting. The pictures on the back of the screen will look different to how these pictures have finished up. On the back screen and viewfinder, they will have a slight colour cast, - often magenta. This is fairly normal for all IR converted cameras. To reduce this, take a white balance reading off of grass, and and set that on your camera. Even still , there will be a cast to the pictures. Once I have downloaded the pictures, I convert to monochrone using Silver FX software, and that takes the colour cast out completely. I find the settings, - High Structure Smooth or High Structure Harsh will give a nice punchy mono with a decent range of tones. Hope this helps.

As an IT person with a camera: real art lies in composition, in understanding your rig, and using its functions to create the desired result. That is how photography can be art. But depending on post-production is taking your supposed art into something artificial. As fake as a beautiful ginger lady with turquoise dyed hair, fake freckles and layers of lipstick and maskara.
    Be natural. AI isn't photography.
I take endless photo cliché sunsets, because the Atlantic Ocean is 300 yards from me. I cannot often visit the Kgalagadi to shoot prides of lion, or to arrest an elusive African wildcat or caracal. Thanks for commenting, and you do have some interesting points. As I mentioned in the video, Infra Red is not to everyones taste. I know of at least two camera club judges who hate it, which is fair enough. Everyone to their own, and it would be a very boring world if we all liked the same type of images. Regarding taking the same shots as everyone, else in places in `England-Scotland-Wales`, again its a valid comment. It would be nice to find new locations that have not been photographed before, but most of these `honey spot` or `tripod holes` locations are often the best places to take pictures. O.K. so they have been done to death, and by other phtographers who have made better pictures than me, but the fact they have been done before should stop other photographers from taking the pictures. Having never been to Skye and Torrindon, it would have been rude not to have taken a few shots, and providing the photographer is happy with them, it should not decry him from taking a shot that been done thousands of time before. Thanks for the comment, and as I said at the start, you do have some interesting points. P.S. Regarding `running out of idea`- I am always trying to think of new ideas, but unfortunately, they never seem to materialise ! 😂
