I love the new Duel and Buster Gundams, these two kits are really dang awesome. What makes me love these two even more is that they are able to use the METEOR units, despite not being in the film a lot they steal the show when they are on screen.
The Blitz’s shield is one of its most iconic pieces of gear in seed, Its a strange design choice to me that they didn’t include that handheld armory in this Blitz Armor design…You could have mounted the second beam saber in it, and also had an extra lancer rocket + a 3rd beam rifle. And especially for a military mech, it seems like having that shield arsenal would be a must. But, it is a cool design over all. The colors work well, while also leaving a lot of room for custom paint jobs. Paint all that baby blue into a deathsythe navy blue, and it will really start looking like a Blitz armor.
I feel like the reason why they dont include the shield of the blitz is because during the fight when archangle is trying to escape, nicole lost the arm holding the shield due to the strike and when orb is picking up the remains of the strike and aegis, the rondo family picked the shield and the arm and used it on the gold frame astray ( lost the right arm when it was picked up at the destroyed heliopolis ) to turn it to the gold frame amatsu

I fill like they could have just replicated the entire shield, maybe even added a beam boomerang to it like the Infinite Justice’s shield has. It’s just something they omitted when they honestly had all they needed to reverse engineer everything else off of the Blitz’s design. It still looks dope, just coulda had the whole shield lol.
Considering the only Blitz related parts on this suit is the anchor and 2 darts, they're probably random spares lying around that Yzak decided to slap on last minute.

This wasnt spare parts laying about slapped on as an after thought, this armor was built from scratch to give the duel added attributes from the Blitz (the same way the striker packs are made from scratch to give that Gundam the abilities of other mobile suits. Like the cannon pack gifting them the buster’s atributes). The lancers and claw are in no way the only blitz contributions. Honestly, they could have just reused the mold of the blitz shield from that model kit, it was just a choice by Bandai not too.

Its possible Bandai is attempting to further streamline HG to RG more for builders of HG kits. Taking that next step to RG with more familiarity in the build process. Although truthfully the Beyond Global would be what HG needs to catch up to first. Im fairly surprised at how much of a buildable inner frame this kit has. Kinda supports my theory more of MG really becoming a premium kit and HG and RG being the main kits lines for the Bandai going forward. Not so much pbandai premium, although thats been a bit obvious as well. MG is taking the place of what once was PG's regular occurance of kits, and PG just flat out being a once in a few years thing as well since we only have the PGU Granddaddy, and thats been over 3 years now.
Oh not just Strike. They look thr most similar on the outside but they, Buster, and Blitz are pretty similar if not the exact same on the inside. Heck, if their MGs are anything to go by a lot of armor pieces are shared. Revives of all five of them might as well be confirmed now.

I think this version of the Duel can be backwards compatible. I just double check both the manual of the old Duel Kits and this. I think the parts and ports are somewhat compatible.
Duel Blitz Gundam is cool. However, the parts of the right shoulder and left shoulder parts of the exterior armor "Assault Shroud" are not connected according to the instructions, so it looks unnatural. The front part of the right shoulder should originally be attached to the back of the left shoulder.
Pre-ordered these new SEED kits within the hour of pre-order opening on HLJ. On release date and I never got them, straight to backorder. This problem is a regular occurrence at HLJ. I have orders sitting in backorder hell for years and then discontinued. Yes, this is HLJ, a hit or miss.
Oh if you thought this kit was limited with the AS, the original HGSEED Duel Gundam was, well it was for it's time, but the moment you put the AS on it you basically loose all of the major leg articulation because the front skirts were attached to the armor on the torso, which also prohibits the waist movement. So yeah, this is at least an improvement over that.
well the reason the Duel has a simple design is it is meant to be the Cosmic Era stand-in for Amuro Ray's RX-78-2 Gundam as in being the first unit created and the originator for all the Gundams in SEED, with the Assault Shroud being a homage to the variant of the RX-78-2 that is the Full Armor Gundam, though not as on the nose as the O Gundam from Gundam 00.
My gripe with this kit (which mecha gaikotsu seem to forgot or simply didnt see) are that MASSIVE INACCURACY in the backpack and shoulder thrusters, they have no excuse not to color separate that huge gray part of that, the backpack's colors are in full reverse, the one that should be light blue are in gray, and the one that should be in gray are in dark blue, as for the orange, they could've made a slot-in part for the shoulder thrusters, and just made the backpack's orange in whole so that you can just paint the outside of it and not the inside, those 2 segments even doesnt have any color correcting stickers which would at least minimalize the offense. 😭 Putting this here for my defense from the "skill issue, just paint it" people: Now it's true one can just paint them (like just any other model kit) and it will always be there in the hobby, but this is bandai spirits we are talking about, they set a high bar for color separation of HGs before seed freedom so it's only fair for consumers to expect that quality on their product. Tbh even with the middle 2010's era of their molding method, that backpack and shoulder thrusters would not look that stale.
Man, I love the Seed Freedom kits I have had experience with overall, but on every single one, there's always gotta be something super lazy like this that'll drive me up a wall lol. Not looking forward to seeing what gets messed up with CalreA
The name of the frame runner and the frame itself implies we'll get Strike, Buster, and Blitz. With them, it would be very unlikely for them to not do Aegis.

Hey, isn't this basically the same amount of inner frame the MG Exia had? The MG Exia also needed the white shoulder armor to connect the arms and feet armor, but no one questioned it having a full inner frame. Also, the line art of the duel does show a slight gap/line in front of the leg armor, so the "seam" is supposed to be there.
Small question, the orange triangle part on the assault shroud, do they open up or something? Cause it seems there's hinge there. A missile pods perhaps?
I just realized that the ports and parts could be backwards compatible with the Old HG Blu Duel. I'll definitely try it when I get my hands on this kit.
Based on what Mecha said in the first few minutes about Duel having a bit of old schoolness to it, it makes me think it harkens back to the Revive Aile Strike since the general basis/mold of that kit was made for this kit and they just adjust the mold to be Duel's, same way the feet don't move, the thing armor and frame have Strike's, so technically without the SEED version of the Duel Assault Shroud, this can work in a Diorama with the Strike, Pre-Ep 12. Hopefully we get the Le Crueset Team's suits and not as P-Bandais cuz Strike Dagger got that treatment

Just got mine, and while I love it as a whole the c clip connector on the black part of the claw missile thing was warped out of the box. There shybe two trenches for each claw piece to attach to, but on one of the connection points one of the trenches looks like somebody wedges a piece of plastic into it, though looking from inside it's clearly merged with the rest of the piece unfortunately.
GAT-Frame? I'm glad that the other GAT series gundams can get their revives but i also dread the announcement of something like P-Bandai Verde Buster and Blu Duel.
I’m pretty sure the Dual Gundam unit that was supposed to be scrapped is the original one from SEED. Given that it was replaced with the Gouf Ignited it makes sense for it to have been scrapped

I missed the pre order for this one, but likely silly Bandai is to blame I do got the HG rising freedom and the justice counterpart, also for one of the 5 black suits with the red cape, in the same shipping the infamous RG zeta and the funny thing: these kits got more sprues than the RG zeta, so yeah, the Freedom had the most sprues, havn't build, but that is a lot of sprues for a HG kit. Now granted, they may be catching on to lower tier RGs, but the higher tier, Epyons, God gundam are something else, I got those build
and both it buster and strike hare the x 100 frame witch was a general purpose frame so yah the lore is strong with this kit feeling so similar to the strike
i'm gonna buy this, since my favorite gundams are the astrays red and blue, 2 beam sabers and 1 beam rifle paying respect to the OG, RX-78-2 Gundam, also char aznable is better than the weakass amuro ray.
Mecha what brand tools do you use personally? I just recently got back into gunpla due to having kids and getting married so now that my kids are a little older and my wife can’t stand me at all I had to find a hobby to get back into so I started slowly building my stash back up. However my tool stash is lacking big time. Wanted to see what nippers you were using, what panel lining tools do you use, paints tweezers, etc etc. I know you’re busy and get a lot of comments but hopefully you’ll see this because I was really curious. I understand separating RG and HG because of the amount of detail/articulation/part count/etc.... but honestly I'd be ok with letting the HG line die off to just make RG the standard going forward for 1/144 scale...
Just this weekend I built the old Blitz and Duel HGs and they were fun but incredibly classic. Compared to those this is similar but so much nicer. Really shows how far Seed HG designs have come. Definitely gonna be picking this up.
I just wish they included the shield of the normal duel tbh, but that’ll probably be included in the option set of the og assault shroud I bet they’ll do
they're not the same! Blitz Duel and the rest SEED Freedom gunpla used *ball joint on the body* rather than colycaps on the body so the universal kitbash is impossible unless some MOD had been made to the gunpla 🪚 *you probably can if you used the "Entry Grade Strike Gundam" 😉😅
Well when the RG RX 78-2 Ver 2.0 is released in August, HG will fall behind again and RG will overthrow MG lmao. But the size of RG will never catch up to MG except for that sazabi though.

Nah. Design-wise, maybe HG could be close to RG, with crisp edges and added panel grooves. Engineering and enjoyment of building recent RG kits are waaaaaayyyyy better. More puzzle pieces to be assembled, and not hollow inside.

It's a Lore thing: the Duel is the first unit of the GAT-X frame. hence GAT-X102. So it is the simplest of all the five original Gundams in SEED.
Technically it would be at least the second machine given the number '102' there would have been a prototyoe GAT-X 101 or even 100

Same. The only kits I actually got from them from pre-order were Mighty SF and IJ spec II. Never got the Gyan, Gelgoog, or Duel.

One thing seed Freedom did right was giving Duel and Buster the respect they deserve. Absolute fan favs that were SORELY missing in Destiny.

I just realized that the ports and parts could be backwards compatible with the Old HG Blu Duel. I'll definitely try it when I get my hands on this kit.

Based on what Mecha said in the first few minutes about Duel having a bit of old schoolness to it, it makes me think it harkens back to the Revive Aile Strike since the general basis/mold of that kit was made for this kit and they just adjust the mold to be Duel's, same way the feet don't move, the thing armor and frame have Strike's, so technically without the SEED version of the Duel Assault Shroud, this can work in a Diorama with the Strike, Pre-Ep 12. Hopefully we get the Le Crueset Team's suits and not as P-Bandais cuz Strike Dagger got that treatment
I was confused every time I see the assault shrouded's right shoulder as why is there's a over-space for the container to get in, until the end of the video that I realized you put it wrong almost entire video 😅😂

Duel has that charm I can't explain especially with the assault shroud.

Just got mine, and while I love it as a whole the c clip connector on the black part of the claw missile thing was warped out of the box. There shybe two trenches for each claw piece to attach to, but on one of the connection points one of the trenches looks like somebody wedges a piece of plastic into it, though looking from inside it's clearly merged with the rest of the piece unfortunately.
17:05 You should use some simple coloring markers lis dspiae. Taking 5-10 min to color in aa detail or two like the missiles is so satisfying.

GAT-Frame? I'm glad that the other GAT series gundams can get their revives but i also dread the announcement of something like P-Bandai Verde Buster and Blu Duel.
I’m pretty sure the Dual Gundam unit that was supposed to be scrapped is the original one from SEED.
Given that it was replaced with the Gouf Ignited it makes sense for it to have been scrapped
They state in the movie that the Duel and Buster are the originals, taken for testing of upgrading units from battery to nuclear.
It feels like one should put the blue shoulder panels upside down so that you can retain more of the articulation in Assault Shroud mode.

While it is regrettable that the Gleipnir II Rocket Piercer Anchor’s opening claws did not have a beam shield emitter as the Duel Blitz’s Defensive Shield- the performance both as HGCE & in the Gundam SEED Freedom OVA is beyond spectacular…

Can the Shoulder-mounted weapons armor be interchanged- SO Either:
1. The LEFT Armor Unit (Missile Pods + Beam Saber Rack) can be armed to the Right Arm Unit, while the RIGHT Armor Unit (Railcannon Rack) can be armed on the Left Arm Unit?, and
2. Can be armed with a pair of Beam Saber + Missile Pod Armor OR Railcannon Armor on both Shoulder Armors- in the event that you have 2 HGCE Duel Blitz Gunplas?

I do got the HG rising freedom and the justice counterpart, also for one of the 5 black suits with the red cape, in the same shipping the infamous RG zeta and the funny thing: these kits got more sprues than the RG zeta, so yeah, the Freedom had the most sprues, havn't build, but that is a lot of sprues for a HG kit.
Now granted, they may be catching on to lower tier RGs, but the higher tier, Epyons, God gundam are something else, I got those build
and both it buster and strike hare the x 100 frame witch was a general purpose frame so yah the lore is strong with this kit feeling so similar to the strike
i'm gonna buy this, since my favorite gundams are the astrays red and blue, 2 beam sabers and 1 beam rifle paying respect to the OG, RX-78-2 Gundam, also char aznable is better than the weakass amuro ray.
Mecha what brand tools do you use personally? I just recently got back into gunpla due to having kids and getting married so now that my kids are a little older and my wife can’t stand me at all I had to find a hobby to get back into so I started slowly building my stash back up. However my tool stash is lacking big time. Wanted to see what nippers you were using, what panel lining tools do you use, paints tweezers, etc etc. I know you’re busy and get a lot of comments but hopefully you’ll see this because I was really curious. Your builds look really good even though you put minimal time into them mostly for your vid’s. Again thank you for any info ♥️

I understand separating RG and HG because of the amount of detail/articulation/part count/etc.... but honestly I'd be ok with letting the HG line die off to just make RG the standard going forward for 1/144 scale...
Especially with the price increase of $10! These are $30, so they might as well be RG

Just this weekend I built the old Blitz and Duel HGs and they were fun but incredibly classic. Compared to those this is similar but so much nicer. Really shows how far Seed HG designs have come. Definitely gonna be picking this up.
I just wish they included the shield of the normal duel tbh, but that’ll probably be included in the option set of the og assault shroud I bet they’ll do
There should still be a RG of this suit. It can come with an Yzak and a piano. BECAUSE NICOL WAS 15! HE LOVED TO PLAY THE PIANO!

Wonder if the shoulder armors are swappable with HGCE Strike's shoulder armors, so that you can turn it into a Perfect Duel
they're not the same! Blitz Duel and the rest SEED Freedom gunpla used *ball joint on the body* rather than colycaps on the body so the universal kitbash is impossible unless some MOD had been made to the gunpla 🪚

Well when the RG RX 78-2 Ver 2.0 is released in August, HG will fall behind again and RG will overthrow MG lmao. But the size of RG will never catch up to MG except for that sazabi though.

Nah. Design-wise, maybe HG could be close to RG, with crisp edges and added panel grooves. Engineering and enjoyment of building recent RG kits are waaaaaayyyyy better.
