To your last question, ask yourself that solely within itself… the answer based off sound logic is yes lol you said nothing but facts in your entire comment because that’s 1 in the same of Lebron & the NBA, everybody’s judged by the same multiple faucets, but there’s levels to *everything(everybody)* - & you’d be crazy to hold Lebron to the same standard as a Tatum, Butler etc
Same with Drake to the same standard as a Kodak or Dolph/Gotti in music & life (& vice versa)..
But yes, peoples perceptions of what an album should lean to based off what *They’re expecting* doesn’t equate to the artists actual current mindset & perception to life at the time of them writing & recording.. that doesn’t make it a “bad album”.
*What makes an album good or bad is based off more than “expectations” of the listeners based off majority of critiques being song content..* That’s why ppl are able to evenly judge Ye’s shift throughout his albums even tho the majority was/are stamping certain ones “trash”..
His current mindset/state in life is a reflection of his albums… you have to erase your expectations & place yourself within the music/their mindset, & judge accordingly..
*THATS* the actual context of why album titles, covers, song titles, the order of the songs, their content - *at surface level* is important to judging a hiphop album ..
Comparing “For All the Dogs” to “Magna Carta Holy Grail” is actually the perfect comparison.. Rory was on point this episode

I keep seeing folks mention Mal blindly riding for Drake, but I feel like the bigger issue was that Mal heard about "Dude's" (Joe's) response, and got in his feelings, to where he was blindly determined to be *against* Joe's take no matter what.

@@lueediniWayne's content definitely suffered over time and became repetitive. I think his run was so special because he was constantly saying things in a way that had never been done before. He was unique.
