It's not that they're good, it's just that everyone wants to find a way to make them good. Because they are based on "Dark Souls". So no matter how bad they are, they will always be the coolest deck. And just like the games, you just have to "git gud".
@mattevans1643 no I understand that sir. I play Magikey for the exact same reason. The Primite support came in clutch to turn Magikey around. I'm sure the Ashened will get something down the line outside of Bonfire that will make it good as well.
Jesse have you considered the Volcanic package for the deck? Consists of 1 Volcanic Emperor, 1 volcanic trap (I play Emissions) With the standard Awakening line you still end on 2 pyros + Veidos + trap but also set up a lot of burn damage, a burn floodgate to apply pressure and some follow up. Awakening -> Veidos pop field spell -> Summon King, Summon Priestess, grab any level 4 body -> make Banshee, search or dump Emperor as needed -> Emperor banish Banshee+Emperor+whichever L4 you detached to grave to summon. CL1 Banshee to summon self, CL2 Emperor set Volcanic Emissions + burn for 1500. Emissions in opponent's draw targeting Veidos to burn for 2800 so its minimum 4300 burn, then Emperor burns for 500 for each special summon. You can still superpoly into big Veidos fusion whenever you want as normal. For follow up, Emperor can banish Banshee + 2 others, again Banshee will summon back and gain 200 for every banished Pyro and Emperor will burn 500x every pyro. Assuming no other cards in play the 2 summons and trap account for 1500 (3 banished), 2800, and 3000 (6 banished) which is 7300 and doesn't count any burn damage from Emperor on field. I've also been liking Shifter in the deck as Obsidim doesn't care how it was banished, it doesn't need to be destroyed so activating field spell over field spell under shifter triggers it, Shaman can shuffle from banished to recur, Banshee can revive self from banished, Emperor stacks higher burn with more banished, the quick play (Rekindling?) can shuffle from banished as cost to negate something, and Shifter also helps beat Droll and Veiler.
@SoulHero7 Its doesnt work as well as one might expect, though does have synergy with the Ashened stuff not requiring a normal summon. That said you NEED to open Queen + field spell + priestess. Issue with Queen as a kaiju is you need engine to reach it but need to kaiju to out boards and allow engine to play
Ashened's inability to kill is why I typically slot in the Zealantis line with princess and raging phoenix. Your 2 fires are banshee and earlie. Zealantis is just nice in general because when you banish the board, any veidos on your opponent's field comes to yours instead for extra damage. Princess and earlie do double duty as some end board interaction with whale. When you fuse and pop the board, whale revives earlie pointing at veidos to make its pop also negate something, and maintains a fire for princess. Problem is getting enough bodies to do that without pyro locking yourself. In pure it's not very often, but with a melodious side engine it's much more realistic. Melo in general offers a lot to the deck. You can go into apo as well as the whale line if you sequence your bodies right off ostinato. None of it makes ashened good, but imo its the least frustrating way to make the deck work.
@zenbozic6184 On turn 3 you shouldn't need to, as you already have all your pieces into rotation. On turn 1, it's difficult to dance around it without an aforementioned side engine like melo or ryzeal
Idk why konami just doesnt give the field spell deck. A good field spell. Why doesnt it search ? Why does it have to be destroyed or just banished to trigger ? So many questions for that fieldspell alone. And i really hoped konami just gives them a fieldspell that acts like the original but just says search a ashend monster. And that it takes out kn the old fieldspell in the end phase. Which would also recycle it. That alone would have made the deck better

I started playing a few days ago and am having a blast. I have no idea what I'm doing but it's working. I'm playing a deck that has a bit of madolche with some nemleria sprinkled in. I'd like pointers eventually lol
I don't know if nemrelia is a good pair with maldolhe as you need to banish your extra deck cards for the girls' effect, so I wouldn't recommend it, but up to you. Personally I run mayusenjus I my nemrelia deck because they work pretty well and look really cool, and don't rely on extra deck plays to be good as you can bounce tons of cards.
I'd love to hear from you Jesse exactly which cards/parts of the deck feel good to play, make the deck feel playable, and what parts fell like they hold it back from truly being widely considered meta viable?
The good parts are Priestess, fusion Veidos, and Awakening. The bad parts are unfortunately the rest of the deck. This is fixable if they get a crazy link 1 but I wouldn't expect that to happen. Extinguishing should be good but all it's targets are bad. King, Hero, Veidos, and both traps are all garnets but at least Veidos occasionally works as an actual handtrap and he's a core part of 2 card combos. Shaman is mid but you have to play one and Spearhead is a worse Exiled Force but you play one literally just to have the extra name. Obsidim is a required card to do anything in the deck but half your cards don't combo with it (Traps, Spearhead, and Shaman). Rekindling is solid since it recycles for a negate but because the rest of the deck requires 2 card combos and you have more important searches nobody plays it. Embers is bad but you play it for superpoly and because it helps otk. The biggest thing holding the deck back is that, while it's theoretical endboard is actually pretty good, it's just waaay too clunky and fragile to get there because half it's cards feel like they came out 20 years ago. A link 1 that searches a Veidos card legit fixes the deck entirely so if you think the deck seems cool (which it is) then pray for that lol I know I'm not him but I have enough experience with the deck (and similar decks) to know the core problems with it. All this with a Pyro lock on its best card is rough

@Pistolsatsean Snake-Eye could be argued that it should stay at limited, but Fair Snow is quite an asshole that not only can enable endboards, it also is part of the enboard, which I have found that booking a monster is one of the most powerful interactions you can have in an endboard, and I believe that it will actually take games by itself way too often, so Fair Snow should be banned because it is too unfair.
@@duelmasteryuya1205 I feel like the deck needs an in archetype card that can do what Snow does (make Volcanic Emperor's effect dodge negation, while banishing your Pryos to fuel it) if Snow does get banned eventually. It is kind of silly how much synergy Snow has with Volcanics.
Running 3 Endless allows you to end on a set Endless and Eternity which allows you to not leave Veidos on their field to start their turn. I found that uts better to have veidos in hand to put in their field rather than just losing to Dharc
Optimally you want to leave them with a veidos and have one in reserve. It runs the risk of them linking it off, but it gives you more flexibility of when you can fire the fusion. If you need to do it early, you can use the second veidos to grab hero and pop the board then. Alternatively, since you'll have 3 bodies on board at that point, using the second veidos to contest their field spell instead of popping your own obsidim doesnt mess up your setup.

In fact, leaving them with veidos plays around it more than not, because leaving them with a card on field means they can't lightning storm or evenly. They have to specifically draw duster

The deck is fun but Jesus Christ there is like nothing to do with the deck. And even if you somehow manage to reach the endboard, it’s easily removed. Heck veidos sometimes hurts your own field more than the opponents! Still love the deck but I really hope the OCG support saves it. Maybe a continuous spell that searches and provides destruction immunity as one of the cards?
Please Konami, give us Pyro Link with Generic Material (there are only 2 Pyro Link in the game and the materials are archetype specific, Gold Pride & Prank Kids), I will take it even if it only a vanilla Link. I try to build Ashened Gaia Prominence, if only we have Generic mats Pyro Link, the combo will be more consistent and efficient. But now, it still need 3 cards combo or specific 2 card combo.
If you put a Flare Resonator into the main deck, You could make Ancient Flamvell Deity, who will grow stronger, first by a small boost from Flare Resonator, then by removing cards from your opponent's GY equal to the number of cards in their hand at the time of his synchro summon.(200 Atk per card removed) (His atk gain doesn't disappear at the end of the turn so is essentially permanent.) A copy of Priestess or another level 4 Ashened can make up the non tuner requirement as it just has to be a pyro type monster. Ancient Flamvell Deity could thrive in a format where multiple Maxx C type cards are common use by turning your opponent's hand size against them.
Or you can use that to Synchro summon Gaia Blaze, and fusion summon Gaia Prominence after that. But usually I use Agnimal Candle or some Flamevell Lv. 3 Tuner (sadly there are no good Pyro tuner) because we can search this card with Banshee.
Use number 58. No one is using it and you can make it with your leftover bodies and attack directly. + if you do it right you can use the extra attack from the fusion and burn for 500. Also think about playing succumbing-song morganite 2x the dmg and attack 2 times + the benefit of the direct attack
There are two reasons why people see this deck as bad. 1.) Ashened is a going second deck. It wants to destroy your opponents board, as well as offer you ways to interact. Your key pieces are the field spell, priestess, the level 7 and 8, and the fusion trap. Handtraps only serve to make the deck worse, and filling the extra deck with generic "every deck" bossmonsters isnt good. Personally, I run raigeki and dark hole over ash blossom and droll. 85% of the main deck needs to be gas, then dedicate to the theme of blowing stuff up. The extra deck can run a pretty nifty rank 4 package. In mine, I like to run Raider's knight and Arc Rebellion XYZ Dragon just for some extra stupid shenanigans. It mainly needs stuff that can't be destroyed by card effects easily. 2.) This isn't meta, and it's not designed to be. It's a mid range deck designed for newer players to grasp the basics and add to the foundations the deck offers. Personally id say this deck is really fun, and certainly is the best TCG exclusive deck weve had so far. The field spell is the poorest card in the deck, which is a shame considering the deck revolves around it, but it works for what it wants to do. Hopefully, new support will give it a nudge to be more playable for competitive audiences. This doesn't make the deck bad design, it's actually quite clever for Konami to design it in such a way.
Then tcg konami printed 2 banger archetypes with actual meta potential (mitsurugi and mimighoul (yes mimighoul is actually good post wave 2, like "if you can play It properly you can beat anything" level of good), probably just to flex the fact that this deck was intentionally shit 😭

This works weirdly well with Volcanic Queen in the deck too. Queen is a searchable Kaiju with Flame Banshee, and doubles as fusion fodder for Veidos.
