This was the house that my father-in-law and husband built. After I watched this video my heart hurt to see what this place looks like. My father-in-law passed away in 2008. We scattered some of his ashes up there. We sold it and whoever bought it, built that greenhouse and grew marajuana in it. I saw when it went up for foreclosure. We thought for a hot second about buying it but we just weren't in a place in our lives that we could have. My husband and I and our two kids lived there for 3 months when we were waiting on buying a house. We have so many wonderful memories. That view was to die for! I remember washing dishes at the kitchen sink and you could hear what someone was saying sitting in the living room because of the dome. You wanted to be sure not to talk about anyone in that house. LOL I loved the floors, they were heated and felt so good. I sponge painted the rusty color in the living room and the blue in the bedroom. The master bathroom tub was the best most comfortable tub in the world. My father-in-law did put up the red carpet in the basement. I wish I could post pictures on here of when it was being built. I also have two arial photos taken from a helicopter. Brian could you please keep us updated on here of the progress of the house. We would love to see it!!! Thank you.

Brian ought to start a channel about renovating his new home. I would watch it. I recently helped an elderly couple move into a retirement home. I had a small volunteer crew to clean up and clean out their former house. They were both hoarders. We couldn't even get into most of the rooms, including the kitchen and both bathrooms. We had to start removing things before we could see what was in the rooms! It took us about six weeks to clear everything out because we couldn't stand to work in those conditions more than three days a week! It starts to get you thinking uncomfortable thoughts. Brian, you are brave.
Brian might want to enlist, without spending too much, a design consultant to provide some ideas. I'd definitely "live" with the house a while before making any major design changes. Looks like a great project. Looks like a few tractor trailer or big, big dumpster loads to get rid of that trash. And Brian should definitely have lots and lots of photos taken now. It's easy to forget what it used to look like exactly once it's renovated. Looking at the "before" photos will be fun someday - yes, make prints and fill an old-fashioned photo album to keep on a coffee table for friends to see.
Modernize it by new flooring, kitchen and baths but the structure will still give the retro feel, keep spiral staircase update railings and add reto pieces of furniture and decor to tie it all in! Easy peazy! So excited for him
I've been dreaming about living off grid. I'm a simple person that appreciates life for it's inherent beauty. Thank you so much for sharing your life experience and knowledge!
What a cool place. My wife’s friend lived in a dome house here on the central coast of California it was amazing. Good luck with your project Brian, I wish I was young enough to help out growing up in the 60s in Topanga canyon that’s what we did and my hippie wife of 41 years would be right there with us. Good luck from San Luis Obispo,California and thank you for the great videos
In one of my previous lives, I knew a guy who moved into a dome home in Alaska that he worked to build and renovate. What he noticed was that we, as humans, are used to a "square" reality in our lives--a "square" house, a "square" bed, etc. He used his ingenuity and imagination to make it his home. Beautiful view!! 😊
Hey Lyss, so glad you were able to stop by the new place. Great to be able to give you a tour and also get some work done, but the best part was I actually getting to sit down and relax for a little bit and catch up with you. There's so much going on with the house its difficult to really put into words but this video did a great job of showing where we are now about 1 month in, and it would be so great to show you how far we've come with the project again down the road. Safe travels and you're welcome any time! p.s. the overalls are a great look -- business, but make it fashionable :)
bryantroll Congrats on the house! I agree with you on the sauna. Put the sauna in a different spot, where there is a view. Maybe convert the green room?? What ever you decide, it will be 10 times better than the original. Glad you and your friend saw the potential.

Nice to see you here again my dear daughter I love you so much and pray my God to protect you from every trouble And keep you safe for us. Iam your father alike my dear Do not hesitate for anything After all we are human being. Regards.
Oh wow, I remember reading about that house being built ions ago. He has no idea what a gem he has there. Monolithic Domes will last forever, use very little energy, and are safe from anything. If he updated it well, it could go for millions. Highly sought after esp in wildfire areas like that. This place has so much potential. What a find. I'd be over the moon at a find like that esp for that price. Yowza. I'd totally fix the greenhouse because extending the growing season and keeping the animals out of your garden makes them highly prized in CO. You could use it for an entertainment area for now but still maintain that valuable feature for future owners. Man, I'd love to see what he does with this place and hope he doesn't screw it up. lol
You need better supporting structure in a greenhouse that size due to snow loads. You can see what happened. Make the roof steep enough so the snow slides off.
Do not take out the fireplace. The reason why they put it in the dome house is because they mold, because it is well sealed. The dry heat of the fireplace kills the mold. He will regret it if he removes it.
Just WOW! So many options for the dome! Also loved the mining claim and what they have done with it (and beautiful views)...makes me want to move to Colorado! Thanks for sharing the story, Alyssa!
WOW!!!!! What an amazing house. Also it looks a BILLION times better than the before shots. I would love every inch of your home Brian. Make it yours and always have fun doing it no matter how stressful it will get. Good luck and congrats to you brother. Also, Lyss applause to you along with a standing ovation for another amazing and deep video. Love the videos, I count the days till the next. Keep making everyone laughing, crying and loving. You're such a strong and amazing woman. Keep that chin up and keep that beautiful smile glowing.
Here are the ideas I like....live with it for a while before making any big changes, gut the whole thing, white wash and start from scratch, add lots more windows if possible, keep colors light and bright, bring in lots of plants. This is a huge project and a massive opportunity for creativity. Have tons of fun with it!!! Very nice video Lyss. Love the life you are manifesting for yourself.
I know a few families that own dome homes, there pretty cool. They live down in Florida the hurricanes blow over them with no restrictions they are sound homes and i have friends in Belize that have there tropical dome homes. I took by boat down there and visited its beautiful down there. Was planning to go this year but September last year hurricane IDA hit here in Louisiana and put my sailboat 20 ft under so I haven't decided to buy another sailboat or buy a home on wheels. Looking at the most of fuel rising I know it's gotta be hard on y'all and when I lived on my boat 40 gallons of fuel lasted me about a month and mothers nature winds are free. And I've soloed sailed all the Atlantic Ocean side in 3 years and loved every place I went with a veterans pension with adjustments I live fine. Be safe always and be happy
Really exciting project with Dome, but I can amagine it's also going to swallow a lot of $$$ to get it done. I like that there is more and more people building these unique hidden gems.
This will be amazing once you are done! It has a lot of potential! I love the idea moving and maybe replacing the cookstove heater and leveling the sunken room!
Many props to Brian and his friends for cleaning up the place. Lots and lots of trash and junk to get rid of. But what an amazing house and I hope to see some of the progress.
Omg the dome is amazing what a fabulous space. I love the sunken lounge space.I'd rip all the carpets out and replace some of them. Moderinze the kitchen white wash it inside and out then you can see where the light and dark spots and keep sunken lounge and bath. Definately put a few more windows in or a huge window/bifold doors to look out at the scenery when sitting inside, bifold that lead out from the kitchen to a deck area. It's such an amazing dream space.
Well, you cleaned up the place so Regretless could see it. Not buried under a pile of junk. I like the house and have similar tastes in domestic living. Good luck with this. The more you improve the house, the more money, and satisfaction, you will be putting in your pocket. Thanx to Regretless for giving us a view. Frank V
Another excellent video! And Bryan has done a great job cleaning up the "Hoarderdome"! (When I first saw the video title, I thought YOU had bought a dome!)
I live near the Monolithic Dome Homes in Italy (pronounce it lee) TX. They are awesome, they don't take much to heat or cool them. They can be so cool.
Brian reminds me a lot of myself....enjoys cars and dirt bikes, life on the road. But like me, after some traveling, would like to settle in somewhere; to find a nice piece of land to build a tiny home on and live simple is my goal, after road life.
It would be nice to remove the divider wall at the entrance so it opens to most of the first level. Unless you need structural supports (could install pillars), I'd remove all of the walls save the bathroom on the second floor. Also I'd see if it would be possible to install a huge window to see the view of the mountains! That black light thing, it would be amazing to have an artist make a huge drawing across a clean wall so that in the daytime it's empty, but turn on spotlights with blacklight bulbs....WOW! That paired with a star projector would be an amazing hangout room! Since it's a dome...or essentially a UFO, a retro-future look would be amazing, like the Jetsons! A dome doesn't look good with anything antique, wooden, outdoorsy, etc...
Dome structures are self supporting structurally… whether monolithic… or some form of “wire frame” like construction. This is technically considered monolithic despite the “wire frame” or mesh reinforced concrete. Concrete and pisè du terre or rammed earth types of structures are considered monolithic, plastic, and self supported … even I suppose if tensile fabric is a substitute.
Fun property Brian I would lose the turned post in the living room and replace it with a weathered old tree 🌲 The greenhouse could help pay the place off if you can grow on this slice of heaven. Best of luck 💙
Dude I was just going to say KEEP the stove & move it where you said and someone can reangle the stove pipe above. That gas line move is only a couple of feet.
I would make that step down area in the living room a relaxing freshly carpeted area with a ton of beautiful pillows. Imagine some creative dimmable lighting, pillows, the wood burning stove going, music.. so relaxing.
I would do roof top landscaping, growing grass but also a vegetable garden up there. It would not only produce food, and keep it away from some of the wildlife, but also conceal the home a bit.
I would seriously consider putting a water feature in that sunken area with a small waterfall for the relaxing sound plenty of water lilies and other water plants. And even some Coy swimming around surrounded by comfortable sitting benches or a relaxing place to read, nap, etc.
The man with the plan!!! Love what you e done with the place!!! That dome house rules! You put a lot of effort into that precious place and you must park yourself on the back for a job well done!!! Loved this video, you g lady! Excited to see the Colorado mountains where I used to live.
Brian you definitely have alot of work ahead my husband and I have done many remodel jobs on homes that were pretty bad. One way to make sure smells don't come through the floors paint with a lacquer paint before laying new flooring. Want to see more of your project as you make it yours.
Amazing how large that dome house is. Brian got a great deal and I can’t wait to see what he does with it. The property is so beautiful. (He’s cute too, could he become more than a friend? I approve)
@@CA-lg1do Nobody said anything about getting married. Why're you so pressed by a simple question. Bit of a pointless question. But a simple question nonetheless.
I love this! I think found your channel because the YT algorithm directs me to Land Cruiser content and you announced your new rig. When I was a kid, I used to read my grandfather's Popular Mechanics magazines and I would see ads for these geodesic domes and imagine building one in the woods. I don't envy the work he has in front of him, but I am jealous of what he has and hope you get to share the end result!
Colorado wow! A beautiful part of the world. The poem, your poetry, your choice of words throughout the video production inspire me to consider the words I use. Your 'community' is something to strive to build and be a part of also. I'm old, and have bought and sold a few time's over the last 20 odd year's. I renovated the first one because it was the trend att. Since then I have done minimal things initially to make it liveable. I found after a year or so living in the environment, inspiration, consideration and enthusiasm changed in that time. I would do smaller projects, necessary for personal comfort enough to keep enthusiasm until the true plan emerges. I knew an old man and his wife that speculatively build over 100 homes in their life and said, "there's always something you would do differently". One's time and finances are limited. To blend the retro with the new? Is one option. To keep some retro, and make the new obvious is another approach which I've seen become very successful especially amongst architects and designers. A good idea may be to use a laser measuring device to draw a plan of the existing building so Brian can put it up online to gather experienced people's input. Brian you have a gem. To not be put off by the clean up shows extraordinary foresight and determination. To you and your friends, well done. 👏 It's already been mentioned, I also would keep the greenhouse for fresh produce. Ol fart over n out. 🤠
So cool! My hats off to Brian for finding that dome home and putting all his hard work and energy towards that dream. I guess your not moving into Billbo Baggins house just yet...😉😁
That's a great location. The house is amazing too, you do normally find in life that after something as been cleaned. You will find a real proper gem or treasure underneath the mess. Most the precious things are buried under dirt or water or worse. Hidden or yet to be discovered. That's a real nice find. great area as well. It looks like a magical place. Your all doing a great job, well done. 👍
Just wanted to say you look awesome in that summer dress. So cute 🥰. Congratulations Brian, and good luck ❣️ you have found a hidden jem and a dream home. I am so happy for you guys!!!
I wouldn't move the stove. The sunken floor could be a book nook with bean bags or low furniture. The location of it is perfect. Love the quirky wallpaper in the bathroom.
Thanks! I have been taking videos but I never sit down edit them so I haven’t posted anything to TH-cam yet. I do post to my stories on IG at TheDigitalNomad though, and am still figuring out how to utilize the IG account I recently created, DenverDomeHome
Lyss sweetie, I was rolling at the 4 min. mark when Rio was giving you the "Hey mom, why don't you ever let me drive?" look... Also, Brian I have a Masters degree in Structural Engineering and I am a General Contractor so if you run across any questions or problems just let me know. Interior design/decorating is more Lyss's area though. 👍 Lyss, BIG HUGS as always! 😍
Enjoy your Aura. Personally, I thrive on music. Always keeps me comfortable & grounds my world, my Chi, my thoughts.. you & Rio are a good match. apparently you both enjoy Peace & that's OK too. Will continue to support you. Your chin up and and know everyone is rooting for your better world. You must have a dream of perfection. Chase it, but be weary of wolves.. Be You, full of joy
For the fireplace/stove on first floor....make that space into a rounded adobe style fireplace with a big hearth and seating. Make the firebox big enough to cook in if needed. Whitewash the exterior, embed local rocks or tiles as a decorative asethetic. The round of the stove would compliment the dome shape.
La Pine state park and that whole area in oregon is so beautiful, Colorado is also so beautiful. I love to travel have been all over the United States it’s been a great eye awakening experience.. it would cool to make travelers safe havens and communities for people to stop by when traveling.. once upon a time I lived in the woods. What a beautiful life
You might want to add on top of the walls to get closure up at the top of the up there is with a brass punched grid and make a frame for it and insert the the brass punch metal into it and then slip it into the opening there and do it on both sides and it would be little decorative close it off but still get the transference through the punched out metal. I have done this myself on another project where I had enclosed heated pipes for boiler heat and we wanted to dress it up so I can taste it in a wood plywood frame and made openings and put the brass played in there and it was really really nice after was all stained and clear-coated it looked really cool so you might want to try that
I follow an interior design youtuber (XO, MaCenna) who recently bought a 100 year old home in texas and has been renovating it! She's kept so much of the original and vintage elements of the house like the windows and stylistic features while also modernizing it. Her content would help a ton!! She's super good at what she does.
Absolutely love your journey. I've been on one for almost 50 years. I'm still lost but love your online journal. Maybe it'll help me. Love your hair 👍🌺
From what I remember as a kid growing up in the 70's and 80's, people who had a dome home (because of the home's uniqueness) decorated one of two ways. Either they embraced the futuristic look and went ultra modern with the decor (a-la glass and chrome) or went turn of the century late 1800's early 1900's as a decor theme to provide balance. Some of the Frank Lloyd Wright homes may provide good inspiration. They were futuristic, but in a very tasteful way.
Nice! Robbyn and I will be back that way later this summer. Let him know I would love to share my carpentry skills on such a unique property. Great to see you thriving. Don’t you love this lifestyle? 😉✌️
The Dome Home could be a diamond in the rough, a hidden dream of everyday escape and escapee's dream. 400000.- dollars, + I guess the same again to bring it up to today's required standard, but then your friend has a jewel of a house. and then that is also worth 1.5 million. Incredibly beautiful house (when it is finished). The Minen Kolomie is also a dream getaway place, a place to enjoy peace and quiet and be undisturbed. But, and I would be careful, the ground is probably riddled with mine tunnels (danger of collapse)... But both have their charm. It was clear to me that you are not ready yet, you still have to travel further, you have not yet arrived where you want or need to go. You may never get there, but at least you're trying! Thank you for taking me on this great journey
The whole place has to be gutted. Very little is worth salvaging. It needs mire windows; the views are so beautiful and to closed off I would skip the ‘retro’ vibe altogether. No orange or turquoise please. I would go with rustic. Wood floors. Wood countertops. Lots of wood in grey, weathered tones. White walls. Maybe one accent color; something bright like red or yellow. Lots of plants. Furniture in black or white or both. Punch the bathrooms. Accent wallpaper walls of large flowers? Or hand painted mural walls.
"Living with such intention..." that's... profound. I know it's common perhaps, emblematic of your lifestyle and those you come across. But, wow, that sums up the tug on my own heart.
I love unusual homes. I would leave the fireplace and level out the sunken part. I would take out sunken tub and put in a tile shower. I love the spiral staircase. The light in the iron casing is neat! Some ot the items if good or valuable could be sold on line or on Facebook market place.
Funny Brian said keep some of the retro feel. I saw this dome home as a prototype model in Gatlinburg Tennessee in 1984.It was called the Home of the Future. They were selling them. They were very cool and different This is the first one I have ever seen anywhere else.
GREAT JOB BRian... but that place has a LOT of potential!!!! IF I were back in my 40s or younger-- I'd bulld one of those... always loved them-- EASY to heat/cool, safe, even in fires...I saw the fires in California over the mountain and there is a dome on the point at top of one- and it's all charred around there-- but that dome is sitting there just pERFECT. The family was IN it when the fire went around and they never even noticed the heat- etc.. :) THAT will make a wonderful place to be...GREAT FIND!!!!
I am enjoying your videos. Very calming and Peaceful. I have found you to be a joy to watch and insightful is some of your messages. keep up the good work you are doing. Besides you are very easy on the eyes as well. Thanks
That dome is a mystery just like the author of the video. I thought of two or three things; all the stuff/trash, I would just sort that out so it doesn't lay distubingly around, and find a way for the buildings to blend in with nature by laying out a garden instead. I would have kept the green house, It is probably too weak to handle snow as it had caved in like that. Heat, mind the heat from the stove planning the rooms so the heat find its way into every corner and doesn't get obstructed. Heat travels upwards so may get super hot on the top floor. Have the heat source in the center of the house appeals. And I believe some inspiration has been taken from the Art Déco design style, Good luck!
The dome needs to be vented very well because it is a seal system just to let your friend no . Air tight homes need to have outside air come in and get out to breathe ....The way i did it is put a solar roof fan and air filter on bottom to keep air fresh and clean inside ..
CO is absolutely beautiful in Rockies, Im a domer but they have improved in options today with lots of different things you can do now with types of panels you can use and sadly Colorado code is a huge issue unless you can buy large acreage with low restrictions and very hard to find. Some domes can be set up with little to no tools and 4-5 people. The better companies have great patented designs that have very strong wind loads/snowloads now. They truly make incredible creative studios if you opt for a lot of natural light. I was hooked after staying in one in an airbnb right on the river in North Carolina another beautiful state if you're in love with photography.
So enjoy your video's... I'm quite a bit older and come from several generations of Colorado natives. So glad to see your love of the State and all the insightful video's. Thanks, I look forward to following you for more of the travels through your life.

I would love to see the floor plan in paper for that house. And to make it. Probably will put more windows, but it have a very good size

After all we are human being.

Lots of work ahead for you, Brian, and it looks like you've already done TONS of clean-up. Kudos to you, Brian.
the before and after is amazing! well done Bryan! he's living his best life, can't wait to see an update ❤
Congratulations Lyss!
"There's no place like Dome!!"..👠👠👠
10 acres of land and a beautiful view, that’s a jackpot. Would love to visit this and the miners community. It’s cool to see people come together
Brian needs a you tube channel to share his renovations with us. What an exciting reno! What a dome..huge!!
That would be cool.
For Brian: a sunken custom couch would be amazing in the room with the fireplace Cozy retro vibes.
I grew up in Woodstock NY in the 70s and 80s. That dome house is way cool.
Beautiful retro property. Remember to have all brush and trees not to close to habitats and an evacuation plan in the event of wildlife.
Thank you Alyssa and Rio 🐾stay safe and take care my friends 🙏 ✌️
The Peace of Wild Things...my favorite poem of all time! All good wishes for your next adventure!!!
LOve the Dome Idea for a house but only in the mountains with views like that
Well, you cleaned up the place so Regretless could see it.
That's called clichbait
@@wzroq 💯%
I live near the Monolithic Dome Homes in Italy (pronounce it lee) TX. They are awesome, they don't take much to heat or cool them. They can be so cool.
This dome house brings back childhood memories. I'm originally from Toledo Ohio and there used to be a ice-cream shop built just like this
Brian reminds me a lot of myself....enjoys cars and dirt bikes, life on the road. But like me, after some traveling, would like to settle in somewhere; to find a nice piece of land to build a tiny home on and live simple is my goal, after road life.
I don't know, the thumbnail title was a bit of click bait. My initial take was, "wait, she is going to buy a dome home?". Wrong.
I would like a dome house and where can they be placed and are they expensive
We miss Colorado 😊 Lived not far from there, for over 10years. Spent alot of time in the mountains, enjoying the outdoors. So much to do and see.
Fun property Brian
I would lose the turned post in the living room and replace it with a weathered old tree 🌲
The greenhouse could help pay the place off if you can grow on this slice of heaven.
My final project for drafting school in college was a monolithic dome home.
I would do roof top landscaping, growing grass but also a vegetable garden up there. It would not only produce food, and keep it away from some of the wildlife, but also conceal the home a bit.
Congrats to Brian, dome homes are great!
The ending of this video is exactly a place that I would love to spend the rest of my days living at.
What a find!!!!! Glass on the dome upstairs for sure!! A lookout with those views!!!! FUN!!!
It's already been mentioned, I also would keep the greenhouse for fresh produce.
That would be a great bachelor pad/mancave🙂 so many thing I would do and would love to see his final project!
Such a cool house! Can’t wait to see what Brian does with it! Amazing views! Also love his friend’s abandoned mine place! Absolutely beautiful!
Just wanted to say you look awesome in that summer dress. So cute 🥰. Congratulations Brian, and good luck ❣️ you have found a hidden jem and a dream home. I am so happy for you guys!!!
Amazing to have such good friends that come in when you really need it
❤
I wouldn't move the stove. The sunken floor could be a book nook with bean bags or low furniture. The location of it is perfect. Love the quirky wallpaper in the bathroom.
Brian, consider a project youTube channel for this journey, we'd love to come along. Retro the kitchen, that would be beauriful.
Somewhat mighty?! MIGHTY mighty! You were working it! Kudos to Brian, I wish him so much joy as his adventure unfolds!
What a beautiful life
The view from that upstairs bedroom ! OMG....
Such a cool home and he got a great price for it. I wish for you a wonderful deal on a home of your own when you are ready to settle down.
You might want to add on top of the walls to get closure up at the top of the up there is with a brass punched grid and make a frame for it and insert the the brass punch metal into it and then slip it into the opening there and do it on both sides and it would be little decorative close it off but still get the transference through the punched out metal. I have done this myself on another project where I had enclosed heated pipes for boiler heat and we wanted to dress it up so I can taste it in a wood plywood frame and made openings and put the brass played in there and it was really really nice after was all stained and clear-coated it looked really cool so you might want to try that
OMG, that is the most amazing thing I've seen. can't wait to see it when it's done. I now want a Concrete Dome home! Monolithic. Love it.
Such an amazing house and deceptively spacious. The wall paper in the upstairs bathroom was designed for children's rooms so they could colour it in.
I follow an interior design youtuber (XO, MaCenna) who recently bought a 100 year old home in texas and has been renovating it! She's kept so much of the original and vintage elements of the house like the windows and stylistic features while also modernizing it. Her content would help a ton!! She's super good at what she does.
Brian's got a lot of good ideas beautiful place good luck and have a wonderful year
This is an Awesome home. I can't wait to see what he will do with all these unique space.. If he can interior decorator... On TH-cam.. 👍👍👍
THANK YOU for showing this.... I LOVE these things... and to see YOU and he checking it out-- loved it!!!!
Great house and piece of property! I’d love to work on the reno, but I live on the east coast. Good luck with everything!
Try painting the wood work black. Black and white is reminiscent of the 1950’s. Good luck. Thanks for letting us see it.
Loving all of your travels and adventures 💕 Your free and Beautiful to do what ever you like. Stay safe my Friend , till next time .
How awesome!! I can't wait for you to share your videos of the dome home!!
The dome needs to be vented very well because it is a seal system just to let your friend no . Air tight homes need to have outside air come in and get out to breathe ....The way i did it is put a solar roof fan and air filter on bottom to keep air fresh and clean inside ..
I'm like Brian. I would love to take off and adventure and go wherever, but I like having a home base to return to.
great video I love that area the view of the mountains the little streams and waterfalls. I want to live there sometime
