The dot connects flawlessly with any BT device, that is the huge advantage.. not blowing more money on redundant audio but instead using current home system. And the 3rd gen up is fine even for stand alone audio.

@@supernova8948 I disagree, the original HomePod has superior sound quality than even 2 home pod minis. The downside is is that it’s more expensive than 2 homepods
I know you brought it up briefly but it’s my number one reason for not using Echo devices and why I will be using a HomePod: security and privacy. The reason Alexa is so much better is because Amazon doesn’t care about privacy and routinely violates it. It’s a huge problem with security as well. Amazon playing fast and loose with privacy and security is why they have been so successful and it needs to brought up in these comparisons as more than a passing statement. I’ll be buying the HomePod mini. You couldn’t get me to use any Alexa devices if there were free.
If privacy is a concern, Apple at least says they care about it with some actions to back it up. There are some things missing from the HomePods, but I have no doubt that they'll sound pretty good. Also, if you're looking to get a regular HomePod, check BestBuy and get it when it's on sale for $100 off, it's a really good deal then.

I appreciate this video. I'm looking to jump in at some point soon. Would like more smart home capabilities in an all-Apple household, but HomeKit support is still nowhere near as popular as the others. The one thing that keeps me leaning towards HomePod is this: I have five daughters and the oldest one is named...Alexa. (And you can see where this is going...)
HomePod mini due to privacy. My husband brought google home and Amazon echos to our house. Alexa kept responding without being called. One time it recorded us and played it back to us. I was like get that thing out of my house.
I’m fully Apple as of August. iPod touch, then iPhone, then iPad, MacBook, then I switched to iMac from PC (although I do use boot camp a bit). I’d just get a HomePod Mini for music, so I’m pretty sure it should be fine. Privacy helps too.
I'll be returning both of the echo products I bought a few weeks ago. I don't know why everyone likes the Alexa assistant so much, I found it terribly unreliable compared to Google and Siri. The sound quality was also pretty bad on all of the echos.
I’ve tried both google and alexa and if i had to chose between those too it would be alexa. But i’m returning all of them and i’m going to be testing out the HomePod mini once’s it’s released.
It depends on what’s important to you The echo is better if you want it just as a speaker However if you care about privacy and you’re already invested into the Apple eco system then the HomePod mini would be the one to go to
I went with HomePod years ago to do home automation. Stable, secure, with no hiccups or breaks. Exactly what I wanted when your talking my most valuable asset. I know Alexa might do more and support more, but it’s always iffy with skills breaking, apps updating in strange ways, and generally requires more tinkering. Not what I want to do when I’m home after work.
I have had Alexa devices in every room for years. However, last year I made the investment to put stereo pairs of HomePods in all the rooms where I actually care about audio quality--and I do not regret that expenditure; they are awesome--the sound is so much better than any Echo I own. Disclaimer: the HomePods were purchased from Best Buy on one of their many sales of HomePods for $199 apiece. Fast forward to the HomePod mini. I don't expect HomePod mini to sound anywhere near as good as the full-size HomePod (how could it possibly?) but suspect it will still sound far better than my existing Echos (last generation, not the new ones coming out now). So, I'll pick up a pair of the HomePod minis for rooms where I haven't felt the need to place (and pay for) full-size HomePods and will relegate the Echo devices to use as Alexa backup when Siri is simply acting too stupid for words--one set of Phillips Hue lights confuse Siri about 50% of the time, much to my eternal vexation--or when I need a device with a screen, as in the kitchen.
When you have listened to both, we can talk again !!. In the meantime, as far as the sound is concerned they are all speculations about the homepod mini Regards
I solved that problem - the only thing I can do is to add the item to my Wife’s cart and then she decides if the stupid toy I just ordered is in our budget or not... yes, I’m a compulsive spender and she saves us from the poor house!
Yeah I used to have issues exactly like that a couple years ago when smart assistants were first becoming a mainstream thing :/. But now that they have advanced it really has been a viable thing for me to use on my day to day life! I personally use Apple products ( so Siri ) and all of the devices that I use are connected so I don’t have to transfer any information between either of them since they are all connected. What device do you use that annoys you with its smart assistant?
The Homepod Minis can be used with Apple TV “HomePod mini works effortlessly with your Apple devices. Pick up an incoming call from your iPhone, listen to music on your Mac, or upgrade your TV experience by taking the sound from your Apple TV to the next level - they all connect to HomePod mini.”
It’s literally on the main page on Apple’s website for HomePod Mini that you can “upgrade your TV”. I hate it when TH-camrs act like they know everything and get the basic facts wrong.
Those who said how limiting smart devices are with HomeKit clearly hasn’t use Homebridge. I have 74 smart devices from Xiaomi and Tuya and both can be accessible through HomeKit via Homebridge. Therefore, I can control via Siri.
So would an HomePod mini sync with my Apple TV? I have Spotify on Apple TV and wondered if I played it on that, would HomePods around the house play serve as additional speakers?
I have both. I have 5 echo dots in my living room and two HomePods in my living room. Every other room has an echo show, bathrooms have echo flex. Bedroom has a homepod. I have google home in living room and garage. Google home, or nest home was a waste. I have bose soundtouch in every room that doesn’t have a homepod. Wife mostly used echo for my son, I use airplay. I use both for automations. In my car, I have wireless carplay and echo auto connected and I can use both simultaneously.
Homebridge brings multiple non-Homekit devices to be available via HomeKit. Adds a ton of value to people moving to HomePod. I use multiple cheap smart devices with the Home app this way.
Echo is great if you have an elderly parent that lives alone. I use the drop in feature for that and it's really good. You can set up a few in there house and can have instant 2 way communication with them. Just make sure they have Wifi.
So my friend, I have a JBL thar unfortunately stopped working and I work at home and I need music. I have iphone and Apple Watch, I subscribe to apple music. I still think homepod mini might be a little pricy. So should I get the homepod mini or it doesn’t matter the brad for what I need?? Thanks if you help me.
Do you think new features displayed like sending voice, showing directions when in the car, and “Hey Siri, what’s my update?” will be a feature that comes to the original HomePod? I have the big HomePod and I would like to get the HomePod mini as well
Is it possible to listen easily TH-cam music on the home pod ? I mean smoothly like hey Siri play something Does it play it on my preferred app that I have already purchased a subscription which in my case is TH-cam premium
But Max ! I have a question for you. If someone still wants to go with the Homepod Does it make sense now to go with the Bigger Homepod which has an old A8 Chip vs the Homepod Mini which has the S5 Chip ? And the Homepod Mini will not sound as good as the Bigger Homepod right ? That's a given isn't it ? what do you say ?
Bro, you mentioned in this video that the homepod does not connect to the Apple TV. Apples website clearly states " upgrade your TV experience by taking the sound from your Apple TV to the next level " just an FYI......
Echo Dot plus an external speaker is a better product than HomePod mini. If you don’t care about privacy implications (of which Amazon does have controls for) then it’s a no brainer
Who has friends with Android devices? Or ones you would let control your music. I use both echo and HomePod because I am deep in Apple but do have some non-supported devices that I just add echos for and at $19 doesn't matter to have them just around. But for all my music needs it is HomePod and HomePod mini. I plan on adding at least 5 minis throughout my house.
Ok, lets say you are a 14 year old boy with all apple products. Would you still recommend the Alexa or because of the integration would you go with the apple device
I already preordered HomePod mini, I trust apple WAY more than Amazon or Google about privacy, hoping Spotify will get support on the HomePod, if not I don’t really mind buying apple one
The biggest issue is that a lot of smart devices are not compatible with smarthome app... The only reason to buy this is if you are fully invested in the apple eco system or if you really want just a small speaker for music only
Lack of Spotify integration is what stopped me getting a HomePod over a Sonos One, and its what's going to stop me getting a HomePod Mini over the new Echo Dot
Using Google Home products for questions, calendars, reminders et cetera. And to control music to my Sonos speakers, that have Airplay support as well. Music service is TH-cam Music. This all works very well. You can even set a certain Sonos speaker as the default music output for a Google Home device. No HomePod or Echo devices needed, which are both unavailable in my country and language.
I’m an apple user! I have iphone, ipad, and appletv! I use echo devices for I find they are easier to use, works with everything, supports my apple music sub, and the sound is great! I just find that homekit is a bit of a mess, even right now it will not let me set it up for it won’t reconize my apple account! So for me it is the echo devices! Less hassle, greaat sound, and with a fire tv device makes an inexpensive home theatre set up as well, which works amazingly good!
If you buy 3 months of Sirus radio for $15 they give you a free coupon for an Echo mini. Which actually works on 2. Thus you can get 3 months of satellite radio and two mini’s for $15
I think for someone that owns 2 echo dots and 1 echo show in an apartment with old people as neighbours, these amazon devices shine as I can’t play my music loud anyways. I’m an Apple fan and always been since the 90’s but Apple just still doesn’t have me convinced with their latest HomePod release.
I’m a apple fan all of my personal tech is apple... but my apartment is a Amazon home. Speakers are cheaper plus Alexa is better than Siri and more useful when you shop on Amazon a lot.
As a user of Echo's for over 5 years I am switching over the past week to HomePods. Two in my livingroom/office/kitchen space to get surround sounds in the livingroom. And Minis everywhere else. And I mean everywhere. Bathrooms included. I'm just tired of getting Echo notifications about potential deals. We have Apple TV 4ks. The dot connects flawlessly with any BT device, that is the huge advantage.. not blowing more money on redundant audio but instead using current home system. And the 3rd gen up is fine even for stand alone audio.
I think this is competing more with the new $60 4th gen Echo dot which has pretty great sound if you check the early reviews
The apple mini competes straight with the new Echo 4th gen because of the price range being the same, not Echot dot 4th gen.
@@eddyparker10 If that’s the case, then I can’t imagine the mini’s 1 speaker and 2 passive radiators can compete with the 4th generation Echo’s larger woofer and 2 tweeters.
And Apple would NEVER launch a product same price as it’s competition. 😂
I have the same feeling as an apple fanboy. I have google, amazon and apple and so far in my tests, Alexa is my family's favourite for all the devices we can connect
If the sound quality is good, i am gonna buy 2 HomePod minis for my bedroom.
The sound quality seems to be amazing as far as reviews say. I think im gonna buy two as well.
@Star the big one is dumb and sound quality is kinda shit to much bass
@@supernova8948 I disagree, the original HomePod has superior sound quality than even 2 home pod minis. The downside is is that it’s more expensive than 2 homepods
iamnotadingleberry ok.. but it is not as smart as the HomePod minis the minis are 4x smarter than the original homepod
The sound quality is amazing on my 1 but 2 would even be the dream if placed correctly
Can Mini be paired with the big HomePod for stereo?
Amazon definitely need to step up the user experience of their Alexa app.
Not having Bluetooth audio play back in HomePod is a huge bummer.
So it cannot work with non- apple devices?
@@ricog8209 it can’t
Are u serious? The amazon echo wont work unless u have apple products? It's not even apple brand tho.
@@JaneDoe-ob9dr Rico meant the HomePod mini here
Definitely. You literally can’t even use Apple Music cause the link up doesn’t work
I know you brought it up briefly but it’s my number one reason for not using Echo devices and why I will be using a HomePod: security and privacy.
You couldn’t get me to use any Alexa devices if there were free.
would've been so cool if it had a MagSafe charging base but you could take it wirelessly anywhere in your home!
As long as Spotify works on it Ill buy it.
Guessing you're not buying
Yeah it doesn’t
Get the echo dot 4th Gen he makes fake reviews and echo can do so much more and is more smarter and the home pod mini and the echo sound the same it’s just the home pod mini has more bass and a little louder
@@unboxings5218 haha Alexa Amazon fan I bet u are using aNdRoId
@@supernova8948 woah woah woah hold up there buddy I have a iPhone 7 🥸🥸🥸🥲🥲 as you can see I have these emojis i just don’t like this TH-camr and I love love love the homepod it’s just if you don’t have money he acts like if we all are rich and doesn’t mention the echo dot now I have AirPods and a MacBook I’m in the apple echo system and also the only AnDrIoD device I have is the echo dot 4th Gen
HomePod mini will definitely sound better but Echo will be better for literally everything else.
It’s better for the Apple ecosystem, like using iMessage, calling, locating devices, Apple Music, etc. Its worth depends on those factors as well.
The ecosystem in terms of being able to tie in really well with everything, But the huge thing is definitely privacy
@Requis The Demi God relax .. it was a typo. I fixed it.
It's kind of an insult they just won't let you use Spotify even tho you're already spending $99 with them
HomePod mini due to privacy.
Can I use the HomePod mini as a speakerphone for my iPhone?
9:19 you got a editing error. I lowkey thought i was tripping. But you repeated it twice😂😂😂 im over here thinking my phone lagged
Same! 😂
Question- Do you need an iPhone for the HP Mini, or can you use it with like your iPad?
Pls even I need the answer for this
Yes you can
the apple website shows you the compatibility.
You can use it with and iPad too
If I remember from the stream it says that it needed the u1 ultra wide chip? I don’t remember
Even the echo 4th generation has bad sound ?
It depends on what’s important to you
The echo is better if you want it just as a speaker
However if you care about privacy and you’re already invested into the Apple eco system then the HomePod mini would be the one to go to
I went with HomePod years ago to do home automation.
I'm Apple user so I prefer HomePod Mini.
Same lol
What about iPhone users that don’t use Apple Music?
@@soberanisfam1323 let me recheck the stream brb
@@soberanisfam1323 You can also listen to Spotify on HomePod. Only with Air Play mode but it works.
I’m an Apple user and prefer Alexa
I snagged an Echo dot last month for £1 as part of an amazon music deal and it’s great so far in my opinion
In the meantime, as far as the sound is concerned they are all speculations about the homepod mini
Regards
I don’t want Alexa in my house. It’s too easy to order items on a whim.
I solved that problem - the only thing I can do is to add the item to my Wife’s cart and then she decides if the stupid toy I just ordered is in our budget or not... yes, I’m a compulsive spender and she saves us from the poor house!
You can disable that feature if you want.
I would buy neither, the tech is so annoying to use, I can find a song quicker myself than repeating myself 3 times to a bot voice
Yeah I feel for Scottish people.
@@summerrr1 😂😂. I wonder what languages are hardest for smart assistants to identify?🤔
10:00 or you could get an Echo input (if this thing still exists)
It doesn't. You can get the Echo Flex for the same money though.
Which one is louder and has better quality for music HomePod mini or the Echo 4th gen not the dot?
9:09 did you forget to cut out the segment before this? Sounds like a bloop
yeah lol
The Homepod Minis can be used with Apple TV “HomePod mini works effortlessly with your Apple devices. Pick up an incoming call from your iPhone, listen to music on your Mac, or upgrade your TV experience by taking the sound from your Apple TV to the next level - they all connect to HomePod mini.”
It’s literally on the main page on Apple’s website for HomePod Mini that you can “upgrade your TV”. I hate it when TH-camrs act like they know everything and get the basic facts wrong.
It’s also on the HomePod main page that you can’t use it as an Apple TV theater like the original HomePod can.
@@MaksimYuryev so the real answer is... it works with the Apple TV, but not as well, to the same capabilities of the HomePod
Uh, you can use it with your TV, but it probably won’t have as great of a sound as it’s bigger brother
The gen 4 echo ball sounds great everyone . $29 and worth it %100%
Homebridge brings multiple non-Homekit devices to be available via HomeKit. Adds a ton of value to people moving to HomePod. I use multiple cheap smart devices with the Home app this way.
How come on their website it says that it pairs with Apple TV but you mention that it does not?
How do you know all without having the HomePod mini??
were do you hear the music better in a smartphone or in the Amazon Echo Dot 4th?
Bring Amazon music to the HomePod will most probably be an advantage to Apple as they can sell the HomePod on Amazon.
The main advantage of the HomePod is security which is why it is locked down. As Max said, I trust Apple more than Amazon.
I’m really glad to have discovered this Channel. Awesome Quality Review’s.
Questionn- Do you need any other apple device for setting up mackbook
no.
@@altr. thanks bro
just got my HomePod mini today and love it so far . I also have a HomePod
Interesting to compare Echo with 1 bass 2 tweeters to homepod mini with one driver. I think sound quality will go to Echo.
What's the difference from the echo dot and the iLive platinum besides that it's wireless
For best sound quality: 2 HomePod Minis vs. 1 Sonos One?
Echo is great if you have an elderly parent that lives alone. I use the drop in feature for that and it's really good. You can set up a few in there house and can have instant 2 way communication with them. Just make sure they have Wifi.
yet no "speakerphone" function for regular/# phone calls.
Can you do homepod mini vs nest audio please?
So my friend, I have a JBL thar unfortunately stopped working and I work at home and I need music. I have iphone and Apple Watch, I subscribe to apple music. I still think homepod mini might be a little pricy. So should I get the homepod mini or it doesn’t matter the brad for what I need??
Thanks if you help me.
Hi MaxTech, Which Apple watch size are you wearing in this video 40 or 44mm?
TIA
Do you think new features displayed like sending voice, showing directions when in the car, and “Hey Siri, what’s my update?” will be a feature that comes to the original HomePod? I have the big HomePod and I would like to get the HomePod mini as well
Is it possible to listen easily TH-cam music on the home pod ?
I mean smoothly like hey Siri play something
Does it play it on my preferred app that I have already purchased a subscription which in my case is TH-cam premium
Does the mini need to be plugged in?
I'm not sure how much difference a chip will make but I still feel like bigger components=bigger sound so I rather still get a bigger homepod
What about Google home smart speakers? Will you do a comparison between all three
Who has friends with Android devices?
How are you connecting Alexa to your fluance speaker?
Can apple tv gen 1 works with the mini?
Ha I just discovered this video and the echo has def doubled in price lol is it still worth it?
Got the Echo Dot 3 on prime day for $18.99 sound is really good and so small compared to my original echo
Thank you sooo much for this video. I’m trying to decide weather to get a HomePod or an echo. This was so helpful!❤ 😂
Sorry if this has been asked already but what the @$%! is that speaker you show at 7:50?
Plus everyone in my house uses iPhone and/or Macs so it just makes sense.
Can I use apple home pod with Alexa app ?
What’s the difference in features between HomePod and HomePod Mini??
