You are not only causing lives that exist now to disappear, our actions go far into the future, for instance, now descendants from, Hiroshima and Nagasaki have altered genes due to radiation and their offspring, two generations later are still prone to certain cancers. Another important note is that nuclear weapons and their defense is an escalating scale: From bombs to missiles to MIRV's. While bomb and missile defense continue to get better, no country in the world could for sure stop even a single MIRV. This is because they are able to re-enter Earth's atmosphere at unimaginable speeds, and don't need to emit any propulsion on their way down. Long story short, stopping something that could travel Mach 24 is no easy task.
The technology exists. Israel uses it regularly to block ballistic missiles from Iran. The US and Russia have similar technology - and at Mach 24 hitting anything (like a shotgun pellet) destroys a reentry vehicle.

Wanna feel completely helpless? Little boy (Hiroshima) had a 64kg (141 lbs) "core" of which only around 910 GRAMS (2 lbs) actually fissioned (detonated). That means that over 98% of the bomb actually didn't get used. 910 grams... That's like 4 Big Macs. The mass of 4 biggie boys killed over 100k people. And to top it all off, Uranium 235 (fuel inside little boy) fission is absolutely inefficient, like laughable at best. Only 0.1% of the fission process actually gets converted into energy (the boom which makes the bomb go). ZERO POINT ONE PERCENT!!!! If you were able to convert all of the energy at an efficiency of 100% (let's say by using antimatter) you would only need 0.5 grams of ordinary matter and 0.5 grams of antimatter to produce a yield of 21 kilotons (the bomb dropped on Nagasaki). That's like the weight of 1ml of water. It's absolutely unreal how much energy is Stuck inside nuclear bonds.
Einstein showed us that mass contains an unimaginable amount of energy bound within it, known as “rest energy” (M = E/C^2). If I’m not mistaken, in the current state of the universe, there’s far more rest energy than radiation, second only to dark energy, meaning the universe’s mass holds a massive amount of potential energy that could still be unleashed or decay to lower states. Just one gram of matter can release 9 x 10^13 Joules, enough to power a single household for thousands of years!
In the 1983 movie WarGames, a NORAD supercomputer (WOPR) runs through all possible scenarios for bilateral nuclear war, finding they all lead to global annihilation. It calls nuclear war “a strange game” and concludes, “The only winning move is not to play.”
The problem is, not being _prepared_ to play is a losing move. If Russia didn't have nukes, NATO would've bombed it into submission over its invasion of Ukraine. If you use your nukes, everyone loses. But if you don't have them, you lose.
That's why its called "nuclear deterrence". And also why "mutually assured destruction" exists. Theoretically and HOPEFULLY this keeps anyone from ever using nuclear weapons ever again.

Literly, what is the point of everyone having nukes when nobody can use them. The second one country sends a nuke, every other country that have nukes will send theirs, and the entire world will burn.
I mean... that's the point. These aren't meant to be "strategic" in spite of the names governments like to assign them. They are guarantees that nobody wins by using this technology against anyone else. Pulling the trigger only guarantees death. No more cities. No more citizens. No more economy. No more nation. Erasure. The End. So there is no motivation to do anything besides build your own and watch closely. When your "ultimate" move ends with your entire country being reduced to radioactive craters and a historical footnote, suddenly conventional warfare and diplomacy seem like far more reasonable choices.

Chill, mate. It's just a suggestion, based on observations of Russian Army performance in Ukraine. And that performance, looks like, did not go as good, as Russian Command would have liked. Now you can argue that Ukraine _gets help_ from multiple countries. It does, indeed. But Russian Army Command should have anticipated such a scenario, right? Not in a way like "this is _obviously_ what will happen, if we move forces into Ukraine", but in a way like " *what if* those countries over there start helping Ukraine after we invade" ? This is most likely a "political" miscalculation from Russia powers and command and overestimation of own forces. Obviously, calling some country a paper tiger is similar kind of mistake (underestimation, in this case), but consequences from it will affect those who are mistaking. idk why shall you worry about that. And remembed: in war there are no "winning" among civilians.

The Cold war started in 1947 but never really ended, it just expanded to all the world and will always be the fine line between peace and total human annihilation...we literally live in an incredible fragile limbo. It's terrifying.
The only country in the world that is worried about this, is the US, because they use scare tactics in case they feel like dropping a nuke on someone they're afraid of. Like they did in Japan.
Honestly I know this might sound crazy or even stupid, but I feel like nukes are actually a good thing because nobody wants to do anything due to the insane fear factor of nukes. It's in a way keeping like you said a perpetual limbo of peace and fighting.
The scary thing with multiple warheads is not the combined total explosive yield but the abilty to spread them over an extended area, which would be even more destructive overall.
yeah, this simulation of "Here's what it would look like if they targeted all the warheads at the same point," which is exactly the opposite reason why MIRVs were invented. Setting them to nearby points creates and even more destructive footprint over a wider area. This is because the effects of the blast decrease exponentially with distance from ground zero. So spreading a bunch of little circles around covers more area than one big circle.

With the possibility of striking Moskow from sites near the russian border the time for the russian side to analyze incoming missiles for a flock of birds, or tactical non-nuclear weapons lies now below five minutes. NOW you might get an understanding why the russian side will do ALL that is in their power to force the West to negotiate a new mutual security setting - of which they talk specifically since december 2021. Now you can also understand that they cannot allow under any circumstances Ukraine becoming a launching pad for nuclear weapons. The gravity of the situation is far, far more dangerous than during the Cuban missile crisis !!!!! This year the russian side also changed their nuclear posture to pre-emptive strike - and they now posses a marked superiority over the West, regarding the penetration capability of their warheads vs. air defense. Also the russian built a strategic partnership with China - thus the US would be forced to also attack the siloed DF-Missiles there, else also receiving those monsters. Now WHO is insane ???

The video missed the whole point of missiles w/ multiple warheads. MIRVs are being used because each warhead will land in a different area to maximize damage area instead of a single large explosion, so even a single missile would be more destructive than what the video showed.
Yeah they missed the point there but probably to make the comparisons more standardized and easier to animate. It's bad as it could hit 12 cities at once, not 1 city 12 times or 1 city really wide.
They also miss the fact that MIRVs are used to distract the enemy and give them too many targets to try and shoot down on reentry. half of the MIRVs are usually dummy rounds used to make the enemy waste time and effort targeting them.

I agree about all your plus points, although I still believe hegemony over Scandinavia was still a major goal for the USSR.

Theoretically and HOPEFULLY this keeps anyone from ever using nuclear weapons ever again.

yeah, this simulation of "Here's what it would look like if they targeted all the warheads at the same point," which is exactly the opposite reason why MIRVs were invented.

Billions of people has to pay the price of a few old mens decisions
Satanic old men 😢
Those old men have whole teams of younger people who aspire to be like them or an asset to them, they fully support their mentality and think like them as a part of a collective body. This is a whole collective body. Not just old white men.

Most of what we have nowdays ( medecine, tech, vehicle, basically most of science) was the result of research for military ends ( war ). War is the driving force behind our evolution from when we emerged from caves or fallen off from trees. Basically to have more , and do that by the easiest means, that is taking it by force from your neighbour. It is how it is. You break your back, waste your life, cheat, steal just to have a better car, nicer house, more children etc. Then you just die. The end.

The video missed the whole point of missiles w/ multiple warheads. MIRVs are being used because each warhead will land in a different area to maximize damage area instead of a single large explosion, so even a single missile would be more destructive than what the video showed.
video is great. We did understand that part.

Only a fool would truly believe Rusia is merely a paper tiger. 🙄
On the issue of Russia being a "paper tiger": Germany in WW2 thought the same after the Soviets liquidated their own generals and got their butts kicked in Finland in 1939. Never judge the true scale of a country's military capacity based on one isolated conflict they are involved in.
Ну как получила пинок от Финляндии? По итого то всё равно Финляндия проиграла.

@@евгенийРусский-я9и The war in Finland was a total desaster for the Soviet Union in terms of losses and, more importantly, the failed prospect of a strategic foothold in Scandinavia. Of course, on the paper, Finland lost the war. But at what cost for the USSR? But again, I just wanted to say that this provided a wrong image of the Soviet capabilities to the Germans. That was my main point here.
The point being is that the Germans saw the Soviet military as weak. I agree about all your plus points, although I still believe hegemony over Scandinavia was still a major goal for the USSR. But whether the war goals were achieved doesn't matter, all of that is quibbling to some degree, because the impression other nations got from the 1939 invasion of Finland was that the Red Army performed poor against outnumbered and equipment-wise inferior Finish forces. A misconception, again, which proved to be an advantage for the Soviets later in 1941, without a doubt.

Not sure if you're using my generations version of the word. Russia isn't a paper tiger. Upon hearing this, Russia would say "Wanna bet?" Not sure what your generation means by that.
every nation in this kind of way is a paper tiger. since everyone of us is also an individual,. for example in this video they mentioned the failure during the test of the russian nuke, i bet this happened in the usa also multiple times, but your media never would talk about it. how ever when for example the usa was invading vietnam- they was also far more edvanced, still it was a hell for the soldiers. since everyone is individual its is not like in a strategy game, where every soldier and logistics personal ect has the same ;;stats,,. some get more easeliy in panic, some become crazy some are doing their task and some are making the unbelievable. so in this kind of sence we are all humans and should watch towards a dialogue and not towards global scaled conflicts.
