My grandma is 76 years of age. She watches stuff on TH-cam but was too scared to cancel her TV License until I showed her your videos. Wanted to just pass on my best regards, you're doing good work my guy.
I am not very computer minded. But It is so easy to watch all my favourite channels without a licence and all legal. It feels fantastic not to just sit back and complain about the BBC, but to take Action. I never thought I would have the nerve or confidence! But I am LICENCE FREE and learned so much about the BBC scam to make us all conform to buying that LICENCE TAX. 👍
I told my dad that I'd cancelled my TV license and he said I'd get arrested 🤣 I then told him to watch your channel. He thinks it's illegal to not have a License. He is now so worried he's offered to pay for my license , thanks to the BBC and their tactics look at how my dad thinks regarding the tv license. The BBC should be ashamed.
Thank you for helping people to stop funding propaganda. The more people cancel their TV licenses the better. The BBC should be ashamed for scaring people and extorting people.
Lol let’s promote your scary stereotypes....I lived in USSR and world service was the only source of information, don’t fall nonsense stereotypes of this idiot
... and for paying insanely high wages to some big names and managers,... and support child molesters and antisemitism. if you really want to watch their content, watch it on brit box or Netflix or Hamazon
Mainly because its plagued by woke, leftist social justice warrior snowflakes that get triggered by anyone who dares to have an opinion outside their communist narrative or anyone who is remotely patriotic!!! The sooner the BBC is gotten rid of the sooner we can get back to common sense and logical collective thinking!
I cancelled my license 3 years ago, I went through the correct process and spoke to them in person, I kept it polite and they were very helpful on the surfaces of things. Once my current licence ended, then the threatograms started straight away and I’ve been receiving them on average once a month ever since.... It is nothing shorty of harassment & intimidation, no other company or organisation would be allowed to get away with it, the Police are not interested.
@@perception5466 I get a treatogram as I like to call them every month, straight in the end, idle threat, God forbid if one ever turns up at my gaff. 😄😄😄
Got my first goon visit today he asked me is this my address l pointed to the numbers on my door and said looks like it,he then told me this address is unlicensed then asked me if he could leave me a form to fill in,l said no as l don't need one and shut the door end of.
I would recommend in his words "doing it properly" and calling up to cancel. You should be due a refund of half the amount. When you first sign up you will have paid double price for 6 months. This is putting you 6 months in advance at all times. When you cancel you should get this back. I see your comment was from 3 months ago so you should still be owed 3 months.... about 40 quid
I've just cancelled today as I can't afford to pay at the moment, but honestly I also realised how little BBC live content I watch. These videos made me realise that this could be an option for the rest of my life. I had a series of automated questions and set options on how to respond before I got to speak to a human when it took 3 minutes to reply to their scripted questions which I did in a polite manner, apparently I'll be getting another letter (don't know why) and they'll contact me in two years. Job done
Cancelled mine 3 years ago now and have just ignored them ever since. Haven’t had one visit that I know of yet. I must say though they have been very helpful sending all those letters. I always forget to buy blank paper in this modern age so the envelopes are perfect for writing shopping lists. And the letters themselves make great shreddings for my hedgehog dens for the Winter. Didn’t realise I’d save so much money on paper by just cancelling my TV License. Haven’t bought a pad of paper in over 3 years! 😄
@6 months ago It used to be every 3-4 weeks at their most frequent though this year I’d say it’s been about once every 2 months. I can say for sure I’ve lost count of the amount I’ve received, it’s now somewhere in the dozens! 😂
I got a refund of around £26 and was told i could claim two years license money back, but as i have watched live TV im not going to be stupid and claim for something i have used. Thanks for your continued supporting video's on the subject
I cancelled mine two years ago I did get a inspector come calling, I was polite and told him he had no right to come into my home , and asked him to leave then closed the door, he left and so far I've had no further visit's ....
They came to my door once when I was washing the car. I told them I was the cleaner. My youngest came out and said, "Daddy your supper is ready". Still didn't pay lol
I cancelled my license at the beginning of the lockdown as I didn't have any need for one. But I totally agree with your point about being polite to the contact centre staff. As someone who has worked as a customer service advisor over the phone, I know what it is like to be on the end of an angry phone call and it sucks. Because it will ruin your day, even if you put a brave face on. So, listen to Jon and cancel your license but remember that there is a human on the other end of the phone not a soulless husk.
I would strongly urge anyone not to work in a call centre for the BBC. You are signing up for abuse to try and stall and bullshit a canceller. They are already angry. I'm still angry and I cancelled years ago. Get a job in a circus as a knife thrower's assistant instead.
@@gingerjessy sound advice. Especially for the BBC. But the point still stands. You might hate the company but for many of the employees it's a job and it keeps a roof over their head.
@@awestruckbeaver3344 I don't like being unkind to people. Honestly, but as someone once said. "Tolerance and apathy are the last virtues of a dying society". There is something other than working for the bbc.
@@gingerjessy Get a new job while there's mass unemployment occurring? Not even the circus will survive the government's lockdown. I don't think you realise the difficulties people are faced with.
When I cancelled my licence recently I found the call handler fairly good. I didn't get any of the nonsense about needing a licence for Netflix etc, or threats of house calls from the goons. She just asked why I was cancelling, asked if I planned on watching live television in the future, to which I said no, and that was about it. I did say I thought it was disgraceful that the only legal way to stop funding the BBC was to have to go without all live television, and that was it.
They do know they are loathed and dispised , but like Liniker they don,t give a toss. They proved that ( and shot themselves in the foot ) when they withdrew the free License from people who have payed it since before they were born, and are lucky to get to the age of a free one for a few short years. Grasping, selfish, crap programs and thoughtless. The police are just as bad for helping them extort people.

They've brought it on themselves. Almost entirely populated with lefty Guardianistas pushing their woke diversity fetish who have nothing but contempt for the ordinary British population.
I called on behalf of my parents. Couldn't get through on the cancellation line, so decided to box clever and call them on the sales line. Funnily enough the call was answered promptly. I then asked THEM to process the cancellation, which they did.... SORTED!!
I haven’t had a TV licence in over 10 years, saving in excess of £1600 which I have enjoyed spending on much nicer things. Still not sure about cancelling that Licence...?
We cancelled by email in mid September giving an advanced date of 30th September 2020 by email and followed this up with a recorded delivery letter. So far, no acknowledgement. It might be a good idea to keep a record of all correspondence. Many thanks for your videos
I ended mine just before lockdown... just told the nice lady i`m always on TH-cam now and i must say "doctor who was the last straw"... she was also a sci-fi watcher too.... nice and easy...
They are also run by feminists misandrists. Note how most experts or folk interviewed are female. They bend over backwards to not produce a male in coverage of anything.

Never paid for a TV licence and never will, to be fair though I actually don’t watch TV at all just TH-cam and movies I downloaded but still just another way to rip people off
Noooo nooo nooo never call them, never acknowledge them at all. I get the odd letter saying to the occupier this address isn't licensed etc. Without a name they can't do anything. You don't have to interact with them, you don't have to tell a company you don't need their service. I don't phone sky or virgin saying oh, thought I'd let ya know i don't wish to buy your package. Never interact, never give details never acknowledge them. I've had 1 visit in 7 years. I opened my window said I'm not interested and off he popped. No name, no information, no prosecution.
Thanks for this updated info. I had watched TR's advice on how to cancel thru the website, and Tommy did it all online. A few days ago I tried it and couldn't and needed to telephone. I guess I waited 15 mins. It's ok, I wasn't working that day. Presumably they are flooded with cancellers and want to deter you by blocking the online form and forcing you to phone. I was polite with the caller and she was polite with me. She's only doing a (poorly paid I guess) job. She asked why: I said I hadn't watched TV for 6 months, then she briefly gave me the legal warnings, and I acknowledged them, and she said a letter would come verifying the cancellation. I have a month still to run on my TV licence but have no plans to watch TV ever again. I feel clean no longer funding their anti white working class, or anti British bile.
LOL the lady who dealt with my cancellation used that tactic on me (an enforcement officer will be around to check) To which I replied "that's fine", just make sure they read the signage at the property ie "CCTV in operation" and "WARNING Guard dog patrols this area" and I asked her to make a note against the address, for the enforcement officers own safety! I'm sure my German Shepherd would love to meet one of them, but he is rather intimating, especially if I'm not around. My NLN (No Licence Needed) declaration must have expired recently. They are now sending me handy dandy fire lighters every few weeks. After watching your channel I decided that I will just ignore them and treat it like the rest of the junk mail I get!
just a polite friendly note, if your dog were to bite somebody going about their lawful business, even if it is on your property, then you could find yourself in trouble with the law and your dog could be put down. also, a sign on your gate indicating that " I LIVE HERE" can be interpreted in law as an admission you knowingly own a dangerous dog.
@@ian3792 It's not a threat, it's a fact. There is CCTV and a dog. Even the post person, uses a mailbox at the end of the lane, which they prefer because they can just drive along side and throw the mail into without getting out of the van. It's very common out in the countryside!
@@oldearado8351 it's a tactic they use to scare people who might be watching TV. Personally you couldn't pay me to watch the BBC or use iPlayer. I also find live TV to be obsolete in modern day lifestyles, so had no interest in that! I am considering a trial to Brit Box, but that's just to have a look at the new Spitting Image series which seems to be exclusive to that platform.
@@thedogsdiddies8421 Not sure why people are worrying about the interception of your Dog and CCTV. Brainwashed into fear or what or being cautious. You told the lady to take a note. End of. @@oldearado8351 what do you watch? I was on Amazon Prime for a while but got bored after a while and decided wasn't worth the sub. Most of my screen time is TH-cam, 4oD and ITV hub catchup/on-demand.
Just to say; you’re spot on. They were polite, covered what they needed to and even declared that I am due a refund (they round up to quarters). The money saved has gone a Netflix and Disney+ subscription for the same monthly amount: £15.
Thank you Mr Chilli 😏 I cancelled my TV by telephone today. Your videos were a great help, nowhere near as daunting as I thought it would, no 20 questions or third degree, just asked to confirm my reason for cancelling, informed of my direct debit refund, no mention of future visits, just a call back in 2 years and that was it, job done, all in a couple of minutes, wish I'd done it years ago
it would be great if it could be over in two years but unless enough people cancel and defund the BBC then we most likely will be stuck with the tax until their charter expires in 2027. When I cancelled ours I had to ring them because they said the request for my direct debit had already been presented to my bank and unless I reinstated it and they received that months payment they couldn't process my request. When I rang the woman she said my licence was cancelled on the day I requested them to, seems they were just trying to get another months money. Anyway all sorted for two years and then they can do one, I'll not be having any more contact with them. The woman on the phone was very pleasant and helpful to be honest.
Same as women who knocked on my door! Lovely woman. No intention calling me a liar. Might have been different had it been Male or bailiff. Would have phoned police to remove them. Take no shit now
I’m so pleased I found your channel as I’ve been wanting to cancel my tv license for awhile now but I didn’t have the courage as I didn’t have the information that this is something I can do. I’m just off the phone with them and cancelled. I’ve cancelled my direct debit plus I’m getting a refund so all good. They told me to ignore any letters and they will contact me in two years to see if anything has changed. Thanks again for providing us with sensible information 😃👍🏼

The advantage of just stopping payments is it leaves them in limbo, they don`t know if you live at the address anymore and after a while they start sending letters to "The Occupier" rather than in your name. Them not being able to confirm who you are is one extra hurdle for them.

I am very glad that you made the point of saying these people are just going to work to do a job they probably loath so don't give them stick. People seem to forget this and when they feel they are in the right about something and tend to get argumentative with the agent on the phone! (Speaking as someone who works in a call centre and loathes their job)
I recently cancelled by phone (filling in the online form resulted in a threatening email about 10 days later). I initially tried to cancel over the phone, but the message said "sorry, we're busy, do it online". I tried again (twice) after the threatening email, and again they were too busy to answer. I then called again and chose the option to update my payment details. They weren't too busy to answer that call, and the chap I spoke to was helpful and sorted out my cancellation.
When we moved over 20 years ago, we decided not to have a TV. A few months later letters from TV Licensing began to arrive; at first we ignored them, knowing we didn't need a licence anyway, but then decided to phone to let them know we had no TV. We have our address but NOT our name. & promised to get a licence if we got a TV. We wrongly assumed that was that, but some months later, we began getting letters again; one each month. Every so often we would contact them again & the letters stopped for a while. Now they go straight into the recycling. Only once in over 20 years did someone call. They were shown an ancient TV incapable of receiving TV, which had an integral DVD player. They agreed we didn't need a licence, but even then, after an interval letters began again. Why should the onus be on people like us to waste a lot of time & money to let them know? If you didn't run a car, would DVLC keep harrassing you to get a licence? It's insane.
Hi after watching your blog today, I called TV licensing to advise I did not want to renew my license that expires on 30.4.21. Was only waiting for 3 mins before call was answered. I stated that I didn’t want to renew my license from 1.5.21 and asked her to update their records not to contact mr for the next two years. She asked me to confirm name and address and that no one will be watching live TV or I player, I confirmed that would be the case after tomorrow. She confirmed records would be updated accordingly and I would get a letter in the next two weeks! Simple procedure, very calm and professional employee at TVL - well impressed! Shame rest of BBC is not as professional! Incidentally one of the options when you ring is to apply for a free license for the over 75’s ! Thought they had stopped that? Every day’s a bonus ! It was today😜
I cancelled mine online yesterday, should have done it years ago and I've even put my TV (unplugged) in the hallway by the front door for now, just in case an over nosy Inspector knocks my door. And I know, you don't have to get rid of your TV if you unsubscribe from the Communist Broadcasting Company but I'm getting a nice new TV Monitor with the saved Cash for watching DVD's, playing games etc and I'll just buy a new Freeview Box when the BBC finally gets defunded.
@t w Having decided to not renew my license I went onto the TV license website and found the "No License declaration" section, filled in the online form and confirmed my declaration, hence unplugging my TV for the time being as a precaution. They sent me back an email with a No License declaration number. It's easier doing it this way at the end of September/beginning of October rather than messing about with phone calls and direct emails to get a refund at a different time of the year.
I thought you were very fair and reasonable in your approach to cancelling. I appreciated that you told your viewers to be polite and friendly, but firm. Too many hot heads will go all guns blazing!
To be fair Jon, I rang up tv licensing, it was awkward to get to speak to someone, they wanted the licence no etc & i didnt have it on me at the time, so i had to call back with the info.. Eventually I got to speak to a lady who was really polite. I asked for a refund and I got two months money back after they sent me a declaration letter which I had to fill out and return. Exactly as u said in your helpful video (& wearing a mop was a very stylish addition btw!). I didn't have a TV nor a licence until I was in my twenties and as we had Sky (but didn't watch bbc) we were still obliged to buy a licence. We are now in our mid-fifties, so they got 30 years worth of money out of us .We gave everything up about a year ago ; Sky & the set top box. All we watch now is U- tube and Gaia streaming service. We got a letter stating that if we were watching U-tube we may still need a licence, but we dont watch any live content on there, so thats not true. We've never been happier to not be watching all the mindless rubbish on main stream TV, we really did ourselves a favour giving it up . Thanks for your great info Jon & keep up the good work
Hello Jon, this message has been a long time coming but I just wanted to let you know that last April -2021- I cancelled my TV licence and it is all down to you. You gave me the confidence to get get on the phone and to cancel it - they were very easy going about it actually, but at the same time didn't sound very pleased about it - I did get a refund and I haven't heard a peep from them yet - but this message is simply to say a big thanks.
Cancelled mine by following your earlier videos. Totally agree, be polite to ALL their staff. They are doing a job like we all do to live and eat. They aren’t the ones making these crazy rules - focus criticism at the BBC management.
It can’t be right that the letters they send, stamped in red DO NOT IGNORE, FINAL REMINDER etc are acceptable? Scare tactics level 100 to the unaware. 😂
When we first moved into our brand new flat (just build and first people to live in it) we had a letter already in the post box saying if we continued to ignore them they would take us to court. I called them kicking off. Whilst we do pay our TV licence (unfortunately) we did get our first full year for 6 months fee as an apology. Still think it should be abolished.
Thanks for all your good information taken on board ,i am have just installed roku express , getting my head around it now ,and may get amazon fire stick ,getting my self set up first as its step one for me , next step is to cancel my TV licence .Many thanks for all your help .
Spot on. Informative, educational, enlightening, and funny! - You are right sir, and your content si excellent. Giving people choices in order to make an informed choice! People watch this, take notes, make your minds up, and decide. You have the choices!
Hello, Just think you are brilliant. You explain everything simply, so that we all understand. Thank you for helping us all to get rid of this diabolical tv licence.
Was really simple to do. No hassles off the call handler. Wish I’d found your channel years ago. I sat 1 day and realised I NEVER watch normal TV. Only Netflix, Now Tv, Britbox and I thought .. what a mug I am. “CANCELLED” 👍👍
Its important to be polite. I always advise this to people when cancelling your TV licence. One IMPORTANT step this video neglected though, is requesting that your name be taken out of their database AND requesting this be confirmed IN WRITING. If they need to send correspondance later on in the future they can send it to "The Occupier" as you will no longer be using their services and no nonger wish to contract with them. If that changes in the future, you will notify them. Remember folks, the TV licence is tied to an address and they do not need your name to send letters to a NON-CUSTOMER. Remember to be polite! :D You may still get letters from them often. However, you can stop this (up to TWO YEARS) by requesting that they stop sending you harassing letters. Mention that you feel harassed by them.(if true) But you dont have to make up excuses. The fact that you asked them to stop is enough reason. You can ask them to confirm this IN WRITING as well. Be polite! Alternatively, you have the option of letting them waste their £££ sending you post. I used to ask them to stop sending letters, but nowadays, I let them waste their time and £££. Their letters go directly into the recycle bin! Its a small victory. ;p
@T- S-9 you should call them back and speak to managment. if they do not need your details, they have no reason to keep them. explain that you "do not wish to contract with them," but if you do in the future, you will contact them. if they ask who to send the letter to at the address, tell them to send it to "the occupier." when speakinmg to them on the phone if they ask who they are talking to they can call you sir or maam. again, be polite.
Cancelled several years ago, a very polite lady asked if i minded stating why i was cancelling, I replied, 1. apart from weather forecast there is no original programming on all of uk tv. 2. I could not afford the licence any longer. 3. as a teacher I felt it was unprofessional and immoral for me to financially support an organisation that has funded and shielded the sexual exploitation of children. She politely replied that she understood and I have had nothing from them since.
Very similar experience. Explained that I hadn't watched TV for a year and they sent me a letter explaining that I would get a letter every 2 years asking iof I still didn't use the TV. I now get the letter online and it takes 5 seconds to fill in
Whilst we cancelled 'properly' and have a two year period of no letters etc looking back I think its probably more effective to just cancel the direct debit, this way they send you letters regularly so incur higher running costs, plus you get regular bits of paper to use for useful things like shopping lists etc. I could have a saved a few bob on that ream of paper i bought! Cancelled direct debits don't show on on their figures for a while so difficult for them to gauge the scale of the problem so may be less able to plan ahead....
Keep all the letters save a nice bundle of them and when you have a good few return to sender I know they don't pay for returns but they can deal with the trash 😂😂😂👍
Just called and cancelled ! Thanks fella for the advice as iv not watched BBC for over a year but kept paying so once again a big thank you for giving me the advice and push that I needed .
I just just phoned up to cancel my licence. Bit of a wait - Monday morning during Covid so perfectly understandable. Got a very polite lady who quickly dealt with me - she even volunteered the refund process information. Have cancelled direct debit with bank so...the die is cast! Slightly scary (I don't know why) - probably because I've had a licence for nearly 42 years so the end of an era :-) Thanks for all your videos Jon - keep up the good work - well appreciated.
Just cancled on line tonight. No problem, did not have to talk to anyone ,Just be careful filling out the form, they will try to trip you up with their questions .No name given just put the householder. Thanks for giving me the will to do it.
I find it quite astonishing how these people like to insult your intelligence and use clever tactics such as using persuasive and difficult language that might make you feel all confused and awkward, trying to scare you not to cancel your TV licence. If they ask me why I don't require their licence anymore, all I would simply say is that I will say that either 1) I'm going to be living abroad or 2) I am doing a job that requires a seven-day-week schedule, likely overtime and therefore, I won't have any time to watch TV during the week.
They are paid to say a script and get told off/fired if they don't follow it. They arent asked to say anything that can incriminate themselves.. so sadly you are stuck listening to the guff for 45mins as you try and cancel. If you really are offended by your intelligence check just ask for a higher up to call back. they would probs love you for it
What an excellent video. I've been wanting to cancel my TV Licence for ages but wasn't sure how to go about it. You have helped out no end and I will be dealing with it on Monday coming (It's week-end now)! Thanks!
i will be canceling my tv lience tomorrow i have not watched tv in 16 years but i thought i had to pay for a licence just for watching youtube on my laptop , thx for this info i will cancel my direct debit
'Cancelling' a TV licence is the same as cancelling shopping at a shop. Why would you bother, just don't shop there. There is no obligation to contact them, ever.
No, it's like stopping gym payments without telling them. They will contact you to see if you made a mistake or if you've decided not to go to the gym again. You have no contract or ongoing relationship with a shop, so it's not in the same category.
This is correct. If you pay by direct debit then just cancel it at the bank. You do not have to inform TV licensing that you don't need a license. It's up top them to prove that you do, and of course they will not be able to, unless you say something self-incriminating or allow an inspector into your house on a fishing expedition. You do not have to do anything and you do not have to let them in unless they have a court warrant (which they will not be able to get without probable cause and not having a license is not probable cause). Just. Don't. Pay. However, if you do need a license then just get one. Its not smart to deliberately flout the law. For the record, I've been legally license free for over 10 years at my current address and longer at previous addresses. There is a lot of power in knowing and understanding the rules.
@@timlong7289 no, it's not correct. Unilaterally ending an ongoing contract without informing the other party is not the same as not going to a shop, and that party should not be expected to behave the way a shopkeeper does. "It's up top them to prove that you do" If you want to be harassed by people trying to determine whether you are using their service without paying for it then ignoring them is a great way to achieve that. A lot of people report being harassed by the BBC, but I have been license free for more than a decade and never been harassed. The people who get harassed are those who act the way you advise. I advise people not to ignore the letters, to tell the truth, and be courteous. It worked for me.
@@shaunpatrick8345 Well each to their own. I don't disagree with you but I also don't think a TV license is an ongoing contract. Its something you were required to do by law so cannot be a contract. But you are right, if you are already in a relationship with TV licensing and they know who you are, then you may as well cancel with them (assuming the web site works and they haven't sacked all the call centre staff using the excuse of coronavirus, of course). But, if they don't know who you are and are addressing you as "the legal occupier" then there is very little up side to changing that. I don't like their bully tactics with threatening letters clearly designed to intimidate, I won't play the game on their terms. We are the sons and daughters of Robin Hood.

ben31uk - Or £230ish if you're poor and cannot afford the whole £157 upfront, but instead pay monthly, which is another BBC scam.
Sooner or later they'll try to make it an "internet license". THAT must NEVER be allowed to happen.
Thank you for helping people to stop funding propaganda. The more people cancel their TV licenses the better. The BBC should be ashamed for scaring people and extorting people.

Exactly. Their Capita inspectors are nothing but sewer rats.

😂😂😂
I've just done mine lol 👍
Well done darlin, all the very best to you 👏🏻
I've just cancelled today as I can't afford to pay at the moment, but honestly I also realised how little BBC live content I watch.

I find the paper TV licencing regularly sends me (folded lengthwise) is ideal for decanting the coffee I grind (and other dry goods) into a jar.

It is infuriating that anyone who lives outside of the uk can watch BBC or any live tv for free.
@G G You can watch BBC news channel live anywhere in the world.
@G G You can watch the BBC channels abroad as they are broadcast on the Astra satellite service unscrambled.
@G G The UK foreign office? Who funds that?
Worse than that millions of £s are put into things like BBC america. The licensee is paying for other countries to watch the dribble for us.
@G G you can watch it no problem with a VPN.

Spot on as always Chilli.

Nice one mate. Keep in contact let me know if you get any visits or anything.
it would be great if it could be over in two years but unless enough people cancel and defund the BBC then we most likely will be stuck with the tax until their charter expires in 2027.

The advantage of just stopping payments is it leaves them in limbo, they don`t know if you live at the address anymore and after a while they start sending letters to "The Occupier" rather than in your name. Them not being able to confirm who you are is one extra hurdle for them.
Thanks for the tip

What a great public service you provided!!
It's insane.
shouldn't even let them into your home, just send them on their way.
And I know, you don't have to get rid of your TV if you unsubscribe from the Communist Broadcasting Company but I'm getting a nice new TV Monitor with the saved Cash for watching DVD's, playing games etc and I'll just buy a new Freeview Box when the BBC finally gets defunded.
well done

It can’t be right that the letters they send, stamped in red

I cancelled mine 5 months ago and have never had a letter off them. My father has had 2 letters tho...
They send letters with things written on the outside of the envelope that elude to you owing money thinking that they can shame you into paying.

Thank you for helping us all to get rid of this diabolical tv licence.
Good man,I did this years ago,one of the best things I did
Was really simple to do.
You may still get letters from them often.
Thanks Jon, I cancelled in August, but the mop does suit you - like it, keep up the good work.
I have done this about 2 months ago. FEELS GREAT
Well said not to give the call centre people a hard time, they are just doing a job
I now get the letter online and it takes 5 seconds to fill in
I've just cancelled mine. The guy I spoke to was very pleasant and helpful. He's sending me a refund form out too....bonus
Guy I spoke to May 2019 was brilliant, progressional, efficient and polite.
Brilliant advice. Everyone please please listen 👍
Cancelled my license today on phone. Person was very courteous as were I. You tube all the way no live stuff. Thanks Chilli. Easy.
I just cancelled my direct debit and put all there letters in the bin.
I just just phoned up to cancel my licence. Bit of a wait - Monday morning during Covid so perfectly understandable. Got a very polite lady who quickly dealt with me - she even volunteered the refund process information.
Have cancelled direct debit with bank so...the die is cast!
Slightly scary (I don't know why) - probably because I've had a licence for nearly 42 years so the end of an era :-)
Thanks for all your videos Jon - keep up the good work - well appreciated.
Vampires ask permission to enter....but I never give them permission! 🧛♂️🧛♂️🧛♂️🧛♂️🧛♂️🧛♂️🧛♂️🧛♂️🧛♂️🧛♂️🧛♂️🧛♂️
If you really are offended by your intelligence check just ask for a higher up to call back. they would probs love you for it
I thinking of email them would be better!
Literally all you need to say is I have a smart TV and all u watch is TH-cam nothing else they won’t question u again
What do you expect from nonce pushers?
What an excellent video. I've been wanting to cancel my TV Licence for ages but wasn't sure how to go about it. You have helped out no end and I will be dealing with it on Monday coming (It's week-end now)! Thanks!
That is what i did...cancelled the direct debit...they still looking for me
i will be canceling my tv lience tomorrow i have not watched tv in 16 years
but i thought i had to pay for a licence just for watching youtube on my laptop , thx for this info i will cancel my direct debit
"It's up top them to prove that you do"
If you want to be harassed by people trying to determine whether you are using their service without paying for it then ignoring them is a great way to achieve that.
@@timlong7289 car insurance is a legal requirement too. You can't just stop paying and not expect the insurance company to contact you.
"if you are already in a relationship with TV licensing"
There is no "if". The premise of the OP, who you agreed with, is that you _are_ in a relationship with them and should not contact them when you end it.
The best Video on cancelling your licence
it took me about 10 times to get through, but I got there in the end. Confirmed my name address and TV licence number, also confirmed with the operator why I didn't need a TV license - both in agreement I didn't need one. Agreed the account will be closed and informed the operator I will be canceling my Direct Debit that day. I was told I will get a letter thanking me for informing them I am exempt from a the licence, just get letters telling me they have been declined their DD payment.
