  • With Virtual Instruments and Sample Libraries you can easily record instruments and sounds you might not have access to. I often use Midi Keyboards to record the sounds of a Steinway Grand Piano. There are endless libraries of sounds that can all be usable to you, some for free and some that are extremely expensive.
    In this video, I'll show you how to hook up and start using Midi Keyboards in Presonus Studio One via External Instruments. The keyboards used in this video are the M-Audio Oxygen25 and the Casio Privia. The benefits of a weighted keyboard are many but if you are looking for something more affordable and light, be on the lookout for some controllers with USB.

      @@heychrisgreen I started with Notion 6, what is much more in line with my intuition...but i think that Studio One (and other DAWs) offer more flexibility and adventures...AllTheBest🎶

    In fl studio, in the arrangement area, you know, we can arrange a kick as a wav track with one click, and then we can delete the wav we put with one click again by clicking on it. can you do the same feature in studio one?

    the printer cable that goes into the midi keyboard does that then go into the interface or the pc/laptop it's just my presonus studio 68c doesn't have a standard usb port. great recording videos also 👍

    • @heychrisgreen
      @heychrisgreen  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good question! The USB goes straight from your keyboard/controller to your laptop/pc.. Midi does not need an external audio interface to operate

    Hi Chris, I would like you to explain the membership plan to own the software, and how long it will take.

    • @heychrisgreen
      @heychrisgreen  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question! I don't work for Presonus and I'm not very familiar with their new pricing plans. I am a big fan of just the one time purchase of the software. It will depend on your use of Studio One. I basically use it like a tape machine so I am not as dependent on the latest plugins, atmos, or newer features available. If you use a lot of their VSTs, Plugins, and surround sound mixing tools I would at least check out their monthly subscription plan (I used it for a few months before jumping back to perpetual)

      @@heychrisgreen Many thanks for your input. To me a one time purchase software is valid.

    What about the little drum pads on the midi device? How do you assign those to different instruments like bass drums and snare?

    • @heychrisgreen
      @heychrisgreen  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Okay! Might have to put a video together of this but I’ll try to explain in text…
      Of course add your midi instrument like I covered in this video.. in Presonus Studio One when using Drum Pads or square pads I will use the Impact virtual instrument. It’s the most easy to use for drums and samples. Presence is capable but meant for synths and keyboard sounds..
      Add a new Midi Instrument track to your session and select Impact as the instrument. With Impact loaded you should see square pads on your screen. Click on the top left drum pad (or whatever pad you want to assign first) then look for where it says “Trigger” there should be a note assigned to that pad (Such as “C2”)
      Click the note value next to “Trigger” and then immediately hit your physical drum pad you want to assign that sample to…
      Repeat that process until all of your drum pads have been assigned. It’s kind of a lengthy process the first time you set it up but you can save your impact preset for future use!
      Mostly every preset has a specific pad for Snare and a specific pad for Bass drum so if you load a preset from Presonus it should keep your pads consistent.
      Sorry if that’s confusing but I’m not able to record a video at the moment 😅
