Thanks for watching! I do not work for Presonus, but if you have any questions I’d be happy to help! 😁 Check the description for links to other videos on recording and home studio stuff
i am curious to hear more about how you have your interfaces connected. I have the Presonus 26c and a M-Audio that I got from Walmart. I have a drumset that is fully mic'd with 10 mics running into a 12-channel mixer. I need as many inputs into the computer as I can..
@@VicissitudeStudios-pp5cm The Saffire Pro 40 is a FireWire audio interface. I have it in standalone mode so it is only being used for 8 preamps. It has Adat In & Out so I’m using an optical cable from my Saffire Pro 40 to my RME interface. You need to have a device that supports Adat or Optical in & out to link multiple interfaces together. Best bet is to look for any used focusrite or Presonus interface with 8 preamps and Adat support.. Hope that helps!
Awesome. Many thanks !
im having alot of pop
noises when im playing back my track coming from my m7 presonus mic . any reason why this is happening?
appreciate your feed back
I learned more from this one video than I have from a hundred others. Thanks so much!!!!
That’s great to hear! 🙏 Have fun recording!
Great video Chris!!! This coming from an old fella who has been into Studio One for just over a month and will never go back to what I had been using for years.. For the most part I have been able to get along very well on my own. I find SO so intuitive and very logical with drag and drop, right click, left click and keyboard shortcuts.
That being said, this video has taught me a few of the smaller things and how to use them. Things that I would probably not find on my own. I especially love the punch in method that you showed. However, there's too much for this old brain to process all at once so I'll be coming back often.
Thanks so much for this.
Thanks so much for sharing! I’m glad you’re enjoying the Studio One experience. It’s certainly a rabbit hole of information 😅
I’m only 1 minute in and I already love all 59 minutes and 57 seconds of the video
I found your channel by accident and I can't believe you give this content away for free! Just working my way through your videos now. Thank you. Pure gold!

What a killer video. There's so much information out there that it can be overwhelming. Taking the time to go through this from beginning to end is a game changer for me.
I'll be watching this more than once.

Thanks a bunch! 😁 Lots of similar videos on my channel as well as the live streams. If you have any questions just let me know!
Great Video, I'm learning Studio One with your channel, one question. I have a set of two wireless mics, do you think I can record the drums with them? doing multiple takes to reach the channels you use.
Thanks goodness, you have made this simple and detailed! I'll go through all your Presonus videos. Question: if there one, in particular, that deals with NOT live instrument recoridng, but the StudioOne instruments?
Sure thing! Try this one out: Composing a Song Using PRESENCE VST in Presonus Studio One!

I’ve also got one on beat making. I use Midi instruments all the time but it’s not my primary thing 😅 good luck!
@@heychrisgreen Thank you! :)
How do you reduce a measure at the end of a verse, to 2 beats? My recording, from that point on, shows measures that are 2 beats off from where I want them to be.
hey can i use my symthesizer as a keyboard like qwerty?
just bought an audiobox at guitar center for the cheap cuz i wanted to get into amp sim and stuff now im like screw it might as well record something but its so daunting
Do not fear! 😁 Repetition is the key! Every time you sit down to record there’s something new to learn! I’ll share a few videos with you that I would recommend since you’re rocking the audio box and doing amp sim!

Hey Chris, Thanks for the videos. What's the purpose of making the "Bus" and "Mix" tracks?
Great question! They act like funnels for your tracks. So if you have a Snare, Kick, Tom 1, and Tom 2 track it would be best to bus or group those tracks together into a Drums bus. You can add fx and plugins to treat multiple tracks as if they are one track. This saves resources for your plugins and also allows you to quickly adjust elements of your mix quickly.. a 32 track mix can be bussed into an 8 track mix which then busses to a 2 track output
Thanks Chris for your videos. Very simple and to the point. I have a question regarding vocal recording. You recorded your voice with the instruments playing back through the speakers. Wouldn't this leach into your vocal track? I thought to record vocals, you would need to playback through headphones.
True! That would be a problem but I’ve got a pair of Shure in ear monitors in for recording 🙂 Those I believe are their single drivers around $89 on Amazon
@@heychrisgreen they sound interesting. I'll check them out.
🤔 looking into it thanks
Studio One Prime is a free version and many Presonus Interfaces have their Artist version included. Thanks for watching! 😁
Thank you, this was excellent w they speak of mastering, what, is that?
Great question! There's not as much about Mastering out there as in the past, but essentially the Mastering process is where you try to "Mix your Mix" so that it sounds comparable in both volume and mix to professional tracks out there. So If I'm working on a rock song at home, I would want to mix that rock song so it sounds amazing! Then I would compare that rock song to something done by a pro (like a Foo Fighters / Nirvana / Green Day track)..
In Mastering you're trying to compensate for different listening environments so that your awesome mix sounds great on airpods, bluetooth speakers, etc..
Back in the day, the majority of Mastering was trying to make things sound as loud as possible.. basically, if your song sounds louder than the other guy's song there was a perception that your song was better.
Nowadays, digital platforms do their own volume switching. Mastering is still important, and you can even hire people to Master your song just like you would for someone to Mix your song.
Hey i have a question i want to get on the presonus bandwagon, but I don’t know what software to get. I’m eventually gonna get the studio 7 pro, but I don’t know if I have to get one before the 7 for the 7 upgrade to work.
For you I would recommend you try the one month plan.. give the software a try before you commit too much to the full version.. you don’t need version 6 to get version 7 😁
one humble suggestion here regarding acoustic ,record two times and make hard panning one left, one right ...sound amazing...i believe you already know it but i am just saying ...
Absolutely! 🙂 Thank you for sharing!
Why is it that my focusrite records my mix from input 1 in stereo
Yet in studio one it has no configuration options to have input 1 be stereo other than taking in L mono.
I have tried everything from options menu and recording interface set up on studio ones router assaigner.
🤔 You’ll always need 2 inputs when recording in stereo. Most Focusrite interfaces have Input L + R as an option for stereo.
In your Audio I/O settings page in Studio One, click “Add Stereo” near the bottom of the window.. the stereo track should be assigned to Input L + Input R near the top. It is possible to record two mono tracks separately but you’ll need to pan them out (Input 1/L to the far left, and Input 2/R to the right)
@heychrisgreen weird cause in ableton it has always been able to record stereo of my input 1 mix sent from TRS cable via direct from Headphone out from mixer. I'm just trying to find smoothest work around without having to have big compromises between both softwares of hardware routings. And like to believe that such a great software would have similar compatibility with what I already have been running cause my ableton recordings come out stereo from my single input routings.
@heychrisgreen maybe I just might have to set up my routings direct from mixer out instead of using headphone out like I have been): lol
Hi, thanks for the video, very useful!!!!, but, maybe you can solve my question (can´t find anything anywhere about it...) Why with precount active Cursor moves at beggining of bar? If i need to record in a middle of a bar I can´t!
Hi! For your specific needs I would make use of Auto-Punch. I hope I’m reading you correctly but if you need to record within any specific bar or area, the Punch In function is much more precise.. in fact I hardly ever use pre-count and have just gotten used to punching in almost exclusively, even with new tracks.
There’s a lot of videos on the punch in feature, here’s one where I explain it. Hope it helps!

@@heychrisgreen Thanks a lot!! I like to record wit precounts, but it seems that it´s time to evolutionate! 😅
Hi Cris, what the Presonus version you using. Is StudioOne 6 / 6.5? And i have a question about it, is that version basically same or have any improvement? Thanks before
I’m currently on the most recent version, I believe when I recorded this video I was just in version 6. Honestly I have not noticed any major changes for what I do since version 4 😅 they added some options for surround sound and atmos mixing but I usually use Studio One like a tape machine.
how are you getting 78 timing? You are not mentioning that you have changed the structure of your metronome to a 2/2 timing by turning off the accent and turning up the beat and offbeat only. You do not have 4/4 timing otherwise you would b e somewhere around 130 to 140 at a 4/4 rate. What confuses me is howe you got it to register 76bpm by clicking.
How are you hearing yourself without having the monitor or blue speaker button on while you are recording? Is your interface used for recording only and you output to your earbuds through your computer? I am using a MacBook Pro and I have to have the monitor button on to hear what I am recording through headphones that are plugged into my interface. There is no doubling when I have the blue monitor button on while I record the track. I also have to have my external speakers turned off or I get feedback into the mic. You don't seem to be explaining exactly what you are doing and are apparently not familiar with other ways of recording tracks. Your way might be best for all I know, but I could try to duplicate it on my own but if you were to explain it in some detail it might be easier. Same thing with the click track because you have turned your 4/4 time into 2/2 time and never mention it.
I iii hit subscriiiibe
😂 Thanks for watching!
FYI : Presonus Studio One currently costs $199.99
The drum beats in the background are annoying; please remove.
