    nice video ! i like to set my impact to separate outputs per pad except 808 and HH, then after i program the drums i use the explode pitches to track feature and it will separate the impact pads and you can mix and arrange them separately 😎

    • @ImIvanCalderon
      @ImIvanCalderon  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That’s what I use to do too! Only reason I’m separating from the very beginning now is cause I’ve started to mix as a produce so adding effects as I go from the inspector window is huge for me.

    • @keendnb
      @keendnb 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm with you on that @freeentity..... You can also save your patterns and use the pattern editor and fully edit any element. There's more than one way to skin a cat 😉

    • @keendnb
      @keendnb 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It sounds like you aren't setting your drum elements to individual channels. If you do then you get the same control. You can also explode to tracks which puts each element to its own track when you feel your pattern is where you want it.... It's all a preference in the end both methods have their merits.

    I love your videos man! They are great.. i my case i prefer multi outs on impact or any VSTi, is less cpu hungry and you can add FX on the fly as you say, and u can create a template.. so Quickly you can mixs as you produce too... and also i hear you say in this and others videos that do cant use impact XT to pitch you samples, thats what u use sampleone but you can do it in impact Xt, just automate the pitch that different for every pad, i do it all the time is pretty easy and you dont need múltiple instances of plugins for a simple beat

    • @ImIvanCalderon
      @ImIvanCalderon  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! And yea man honestly it’s whatever works for you. I also use a channel for every Impact pad but to me the benefit of having a separate track attached to each of those pads is so I can use the inspector window to mix as I go quickly. As far as pitching you are 100% correct. Personally though I like to see those changes on a piano roll which is why I use Sample One. At the end of the day as long as you’re making music that’s all that matters!

    dude i really agree i am no pro at using studio one but learning where to put things is super important the main reason i always put the drums in sperate tracks is for more control especially when it comes to sequencing and effects alot of times i want my kick the slap harder so i eq and etc i don't know how to put it in impact and put effects on them seperatly it just hurts my head so ye i agree

  • @keendnb
    @keendnb 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video, I have the Atom SQ and try to use it to it's fullest so I have been changing my workflow to using patterns. I'm finding it ok because I set each drum element to its own channel out so the control is there still, but visually it's not as great as what you do (what I was doing)...... The bonus though with patterns is the variations if you make enough of them you can lay out a really nice beat with plenty of change ups quickly. The ability to save those as editable beats for other tracks is also awesome. Doing your method means you have to bounce sections if you want to use them again somewhere else but you couldn't edit the elements. It's swings and round abouts.

    • @ImIvanCalderon
      @ImIvanCalderon  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks man! So to your last point you actually can! If you are working on a new beat you can head up to the Song menu and select “import song data”. That let’s you select a song file and bring in any elements from any other beat including full editable tracks with effects without needing to bounce anything. I use this all the time to bring drums over from different beats using my method!

    Interesting take on using parts vs patterns. You could use patterns in the same manner, but I still find myself preferring to compose beats in Maschine. I would call this a traditional DAW workflow for building drums, and it is the most flexible way. It just might not be the fastest way for someone who can play the beat entirely.

      I got you. Note that this is only required for Impact XT. Sample One and individual WAV sounds create their own tracks once you bring them into the timeline.
      First, add an instance of Impact XT, and that will create one track. Next, add your samples to each Impact XT pad, create a channel for each sound in the mixer and route each pad to its respective channel. Next, add however many other INSTRUMENT tracks you want to use. Finally, open up the inspector window for each newly added track, and towards the bottom on top of the volume fader, set the parameters as follows:
      Out: Impact XT
      In: All Inputs
      Channel: The channel of the sound you want

    I set up a template very much like this hoping to employ finger drumming; recording multiple pads onto multiple tracks all at the same time. It's as though I was a real drummer with a real mic'd set recording separate drums through separate mics onto separate tracks. However, I discovered that when I arm multiple tracks to record, "everything" I play is recorded on "all" of the armed tracks. That's a bit of a disaster. Is it possible to do what I intend in Studio One?

    • @ImIvanCalderon
      @ImIvanCalderon  ปีที่แล้ว

      For what you’re trying to do it’s best to set up an instance of Impact and load your samples there. Play/record everything into one track and then use the “explode pitches to track” option to separate everything.

    • @abj358
      @abj358 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ImIvanCalderon Yeah. I've used this method. But, only because I seem to have no other choice. Even then, once I've "exploded" to tracks, I still can't arm separate tracks assigned to multiple pads without recording all of the pads onto "all" of the armed tracks. My opinion: This is a flaw. But if you had a way to do this, I wanted to know. Thanks anyway, man.
