Hey if you follow the steps and still get your ass kicked it looks a LOT better in your lawsuit if all the video footage shows you being a compliant suspect. Instead of y'know of leading the police on a nine mile car chance blasting "f the police" running from the stop while pulling godknows what out of your pockets. Fight it in the courts, not the streets. You fight the police in the streets, you're probably leaving in a body bag.

And if you were committing a “moving violation” don’t bs the cop. Just laugh and say yes and chat about it. 99% of the time cop lets you off and on your way. Most are just bored and practicing their job 12hrs a day with no life to speak of. Once you start lying and talking shit they go into a shark frenzy and it won’t end well.
I’m white and have been doing the following every time I’ve been stopped by police (many times, I don’t drive slow). Pull over to the side of the road, switch engine off, roll down drivers window, hands on the wheel. Cops don’t know for sure what they’re walking up to. your car may have been stolen and you aren’t aware of it for example. These easy steps help put the cop at ease. I have been stopped for speeding at least 10 times in the last 20 years and have yet to get a serious citation. They always knock it down to something very minor. Taking the stress off the cop makes a difference.
Police officers deal with so many fools, jerks, bums, criminals, and deadbeats that they are positively eager to let an honest citizen off the hook. All you've got to do is appear to possess a modicum of common sense. It's a really low bar.

You guys do know this is satire right? He is purposefully listing things that shouldn't ALONE get you beaten by the police. Having a gun and a blunt isn't grounds for getting beaten by the police. It may be grounds for arrest. So this is purposefully exaggerated. If you guys knew Chris Rock's stance on law enforcement you'd understand that he does not back the blue. And you'd also understand that this video is literally an indictment of police work in America. The reason why you people can't understand that, is because you think exactly like the satirical nature of the video. Which means Chris Rock was making fun of you specifically. Lol geez... the U.S. education system has failed the lot of you.
How weird, same here. I don't watch anything like this. But in light of all the BLM crap going on I had to watch it. Yes this should be a public service announcement!!!!! Can't stop laughing 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It's exaggerated by intent, because comedy. But it's funny because it is centered around truth. When people do stupid shit and resist arrest or put others at risk, the chance they get a fatal outcome increases significantly.
This should be mandatory viewing about once a month from Junior High School on. The only thing I object to is the "get a White friend." That really isn't needed if you follow the other rules.
Yeah. Every time, when over hear in Europe something with "police brutality" happened in the US and the news report it like "An Afro-American Man got killed during a police control. Police shot him, the community is enraged etc.", people are instantly reacting like "Ah look, the racist american police again"... and when I ask "Well, how did the controlled person behave in the situation, what did he do, what may caused the shooting?", everyone loses their minds... and then days later, when more details are known, often (sadly not always) there is a description like he made a sudden movement to his hip, which the officers interpreted as the guy grabbing for a gun and shot him first or something like that, where I think "Man, why were you so stupid? Why did you do that? Didn't your parents teach you how to behave in the presence of police?" I mean, I personally live in Germany, we have nowhere near such a liberal gun law as the US, so guns are absolutely not as proliferated here as over in the US. But even here police is armed with guns and if I, as a white guy, would get into a control and would make a sudden, unpredicted movement with my hands to the hips behind my back or something, you can be sure as hell that the police officers at the very least would've brandished their pistols and take aim at me (and only that if I'd be lucky in that situation), just as they were trained to do, to protect themselves in case I'm a crazy guy trying to attack them. In German Context it would most probably not a gun but a knife, that crazy people could be armed with at most, but still, a dangerous weapon against which an officer here would have to defend himself, if need be with his gun. I'm not saying that absolutely every case, where an Afro-American died in a police control, was the fault of said Afro-American, there are sadly also cases where the guy behaved correctly and still got his ass booked, beaten or shot by a racist cop in the past. And that Afro-Americans land quicker in jail than white guys is also a proven fact, proven by scientific studies. But there are more than enough cases where the guy fucked up and, unwillingly, provoked the cops to take action against him. So yeah, Chris Rock is absolutely right: Obey the law, be polite, do as you're told by the police and shut the fuck up and you get away fine in every country of the world, not just the US.
@@elliottbaker201 The majority of victims that BLM was "protesting (rioting) in the name of" were killed because they were armed with an illegal weapon that they refused to relinquish, they were on drugs, they fled from the police, they attempted to take the weapon from the officer or they tried to assault the officer. The reality is that only roughly 1% of *all* police shooting victims in the United States are unarmed. The majority of the time, the shooting is found to be justified because of the actions of the victim prior to, or during their interaction with police. Which is the point the person you're replying to is making, and it is absolutely true. Not only that, but they acknowledged that their assessment of these situations doesn't apply to every case. So bringing up one example where it doesn't apply really doesn't refute anything they said. However you saying people only "talk about the actual overreach" is 100% wrong and it's not even debatable.
« doing all of this will literally save so many lives » I'm not sure people unable to naturally follow these advices have to be saved from "ass kicking".
@@noname-ue7lb "black people could follow a few rules". Its not that simple my dude. There's a history in this country, and black people are scared, and for good reason. Police don't always uphold civic trust and treat black men with an added layer of suspicion which leads to unnecessary confrontations. Also, defunding the police is and always was a bad idea. If anything is to get fixed, the police would need more funding, not less.
You wouldn't believe how many wives/girlfriends call to get their man in trouble after an argument, only to take it back 12 hours later after they get locked up. 🙄
Devin O'Mara Sadly true, making someone chase you triggers aggression in the hind brain. While we can HOPE a level headed person can keep it in check, once adrenalin is up, there are no guarantees.
Scorp Sixonesix your not suppose to run from the cops... it doesn't have much to do with the "hind brain". Flight or flight kicked in and you ran like a guilty bitch, they will take you down and once you're ass is subdued they will figure out why you decided running was the better option.
Shane Camburn "90% of the time they just want to know what you are up to. You run, that is like a silent admission of guilt." Not according to the Supreme Court. If you have done nothing wrong and are in what is considered a safe environment, you are under no obligation to stop and can legally ignore a police officer. They won't like it but the law is on your side.
Matthew Bradley You are correct, but at the same time, if an officer approaches, and asks what you are doing, and you break and run for no seemingly particular reason, then you are creating a scenario that places you on a "questionable" side of probable cause. I know it has been contested both ways and won/lost both ways in the past. However, the idea that an innocent man has no reason to run remains a common logic. Therefore, in most cases, this will be viewed as a reasonable act for the pressing of probable cause which lifts the burden of unlawful search and seizure. Yes, technically, by law - you are within rights to not speak to, keep moving, and totally ignore law enforcement - IF you are not being stopped for any law breaking witnessed by the officer. However, this certainly will make you quickly unpopular with the police and they will look for their loopholes to get back at you. I have known to many police officers that make such things a point of their day.
Totally! Though it's sad because this skit was probably made about 20 years ago and still reflects many of the problems in our American society today. Hella funny but has deeper meanings when you think about it. :)

This is funny and a bit sad at the same time. It's a bit sad that there are many grown ups who actually need to be told these things.
Didn't your parents teach you how to behave in the presence of police?"
I mean, I personally live in Germany, we have nowhere near such a liberal gun law as the US, so guns are absolutely not as proliferated here as over in the US.
@@MagiconIcefolks mainly talk about the actual overreach. Look up Daniel shaver.
" DONT run from the Police, if you make them run, they are bringing an ass whoopin with them "
SO true.
Devin O'Mara 90% of the time they just want to know what you are up to. You run, that is like a silent admission of guilt.
Shane Camburn "90% of the time they just want to know what you are up to. You run, that is like a silent admission of guilt."
Not according to the Supreme Court.

@@matthew_turkmen7482 How do you figure it makes "no sense"? It makes perfect sense and is becoming more believable by the day.

Is the quote stupid or are you too stupid to understand it?
Coming from a man that graduated from Harvard Magna Cum Laude
Then in less than a year later got a Masters from Columbia
Topped it off with a PhD in Economics
Interviewed around the world for his brilliance
Published in all the major magazines, like Forbes, Times, Wall Street Journal etc etc etc for his brilliance.
Written over 50 books
Countless essays and scholarly publications
touted as one of the greatest minds next to Friedman and Stigler "Both Nobel Prize Winners"
Receiving himself over a dozen awards and honors
And considered an intellectual giant of our time.
Based on that and your ham fisted attempted to understand the quote with the bank robbery example, I think it is safe to assume you are just too stupid to understand.

Shit this should actually be shown in schools i think it will definitely help. No joke.
my government teacher in senior year in 2013 showed us this before the whole BLM and fuck all cops mentality kicked in
I was actually thinking the same thing!! :')
Yes
As a lawyer in Florida since 1990, I agree with every word Mr. Rock says. In fact, I agree with the person who wrote this should be required viewing for all young people of any race. Actually, this should be required viewing for everyone regardless of age or race.
louis - you are on to something there! That's actually a good idea!
What Chris Rock is saying is pretty much common sense.
Unfortunately, common sense isn't all too common.
You do realise he is also taking the piss out of 6 cops beating the shit out of someone because they have weed or refuse to give license and registration. Or is that part of the irony of the video lost on you ?
+Lewis C *ding ding ding
Don't give a black friend a ride? Sounds like racism, not common sense.
Is that what he said? Maybe you should watch it again. Sooooo tired of racism being used. If I broke those rules, I would get my ass kicked, and I would have nobody to blame but myself.
Well that's why we have darwin... :)
This is what "the talk" should be
You know there’s a problem when something like a video from 14 years ago is still relevant.
Sad but true
People being stupid, ignorant, and absolutely incapable of learning is nothing new.
@Glenn Beck Only because you're experiencing human stupidity first hand.
I don't think it's a "problem." Good advice is good advice.
Not sure what problem you’re referring to still existing but I can assure you if white people don’t follow those rules too, shit gets outta hand real fast.
This should be shown to every kid multiple times starting in high school.

If you think it should be banned, you are soft.
No, I think this should be required education in all schools and prisons, with some minor revisions, but it would not be politically correct to suggest "people of color" change their behaviors in sny way.
